Minerva I received an email from labcorp that the Pixel at home tests are offered in our area and there is no cost (insurance covered) if you are in school and need a test to return from quarantine (etc), are symptomatic, or were directed by a health professional to get one. PM me and I can forward you the email I got if that's helpful.

oh my god I could cry at that news for the under 5 age group 😭. That would be amazing. I'd been betting on like February.

I was hoping for Oct for the 5yo so that's excellent news. If I could get the twins at least one shot by Christmas, I'd probably cry. I mean, I will probably cry when I bring the 5yo to his first shot anyway.

Anyone else scheduling their 5-11s for a wellness check in December hoping to get them vaccinated? Just me?

If my son can get a shot for his 11th birthday in October, he will think it's the best birthday present ever. Even better will be him going back to school after winter break, because as soon as he is vaxxed, I will send him back.

I keep hearing 6mos-5yrs being broken down further, with 6mos-2yrs being the last to be rolled out but 6mos-5yrs getting approved all at the same time would be amazing, for my family.

Damnit a judge blocked the NY Health care worker vaccine mandate.

I'll be calling the office the minute they get approval. My kids get their well visits in the summer, and insurance won't cover a second.

We just had our work Health and Safety Committee meeting. I asked about the vaccine (not)mandate. The admin rep was very, I don't know anything. So far they're working under the assumption that they would have to provide the weekly testing. I wanted to Hmph at it and tell him to charge the anti-vaxxers, but I bit my tongue.

My work has a mandate and every new employee has to give their vaccine proof like 3 times. I know they are trying to keep records straight for 30k people but this is getting old. It creates a lot of “panic” when someone ends up on a non vaccinated list that goes to my VP.

What I know about our Board makes me believe that they will do everything possible to allow for people to avoid the shot. The Board straight up does not want to do a mandate. I'm furious at the board for multiple reasons right now.

I will pull my 5yo out of school early if that is when I can get the first appointment. I don't even care. I'll buy him whatever lego he wants to avoid pushback. I have no fucks left to give.

Remember that your pediatrician may not be giving the shots. You may be better off going to a CVS or whatever store is giving them. I was able to get my 12 year old his at CVS the first day they were available

Wtfshouldmynamebe That is a good point. I am planning on just finding whatever is the first available appt, I don't care where. I did ask their pediatrician in July if they would have the shots ready when authorization is made and she said yes (they have them now for 12+) but I am fine with anywhere else as well. I also just realized that if the twins could get fully vaxxed by the end of the year, it would line up perfectly for them going to an actual daycare center starting January 3. The idea that I could let them go to school unmasked (since they'll still be under 2) and fully vaxxed is like a pipe dream that is seeming more real.

I'm kind of assuming my county will do mass vaccination sites for the kids like they did for the adults. It worked well so I don't see why they'd reinvent the wheel.

Our health district does flu shot clinics for kids, i'm assuming they'll do the same with covid shots for the younger set.

Our county is already recruiting volunteers for a mass vaxx site for kids, just like they did for adults.

Anyone else scheduling their 5-11s for a wellness check in December hoping to get them vaccinated? Just me? Mine have theirs in dec anyway, but I plan to message our ped in advance for her input on whether to vax 5 yo DD and will just go straight to a CVS source when the EUA drops. Unfortunately Kaiser is really strict about wellness checks being over 365 days past the last, so even though DD is a Nov bday, because I did hers with DS in Dec for my sanity, I now can’t move hers back up. 😒

Damnit a judge blocked the NY Health care worker vaccine mandate. It’s just a formality and for those with religious exemptions. They did this when they did away with religious exemptions to MMR as well
