Rowing is kicking my butt, but I know when I start a new exercise I always see improvement faster then I think I will.
My eating has been terrible. So many meals eaten over the sink, or whatever the kids didn’t finish. Pretty sure today was just carbs? I feel puffy and sluggish. So I’m going to start logging tomorrow to get a sense of what I’m eating and try to balance it out. More protein, more veggies

I did a 25 minute run today. DD1 joined me for the first 10 minutes before walking home. She was so proud of herself for running the whole time without stopping and I enjoyed getting to share something I enjoy with her. I did 30 minutes of back and biceps afterwards. I think I might need to buy some heavier weights soon. I started with only 5s and 8s and now my heaviest (15s) are feeling lighter. I mean, it’s not a huge amount of weight but it was a lot for me when I started 8 weeks ago.

I'm also trying to work on my trash attitude toward some training things too, so I've been looking into some sports psychology books for athletes. I finished an Audible one at work this week and bought another to read at home. Ohhh which books? Also, enjoy the cookies and milk. That sounds amazing. The Audible was "The Brave Athlete: Calm the Fuck Down". My next read is "Mind Gym". I haven't decided what my next Audible will be.

We left the house early today for a string of plans that kept us out all day, so I was proud of myself for following through with a short workout this morning. I did a 10 min climb ride with Olivia and tied my PR output. Then, I did the 10 min FB workout from this Tuesday's HCOTF calendar (it sounded more appealing than today's choices and I'm planning to run on Tuesday). Then, we walked about 2 miles with me pulling the kids in the wagon at one of our activities and another 1.5 miles tonight with H when we went out. So my rings are looking good today, even though food wasn't ideal (but it was delicious).

Saturday morning I did 10 minutes arms and light weights, 15 minute beginner yoga and a 5 minute glutes and legs stretch. Then checked out a new winery. Food was meh B: protein bar 1/2 egg sandwich L: leftover baked ziti D: 2 slices of margherita pizza S; charcuterie board whole wine tasting.
I have to get more water in today. I definitely had more oz of wine vs water yesterday

I have officially completed the Beginner Strength program. My Week 6, Day 3 workout was:
- 10 min Warm Up with Olivia - 30 min Full Body Strength with Matty and Olivia - 10 min Stretch with Matty
I’m so glad I did this program as even though I was not a novice to strength, I really needed a reset to get back my form and focus and reclaimed both as a result.
My plan for the next 2 weeks is to finish out the You Can Run program and add on a 10-15 min Lower Body Strength + Stretch after (2 days/week), do 15-20 min of Upper Body + 5-10 min of Core (2 days/week), a cardio day with a walk or ride, and the other 2 days as rest or active recovery.

Hello.
Got in my 45 minute marathon prep run with Becs for 5 miles this morning. Those are hard classes and I love them. This one was from March 14, 2020 and it was the last day they were in studio (alone, no in person runners with her) before they had to switch to doing classes from home. Kind of eery and foreboding, but it was a solid workout. I have a 20 minute yoga stacked still for tonight.
I'm going to hit 300 runs this week, but it looks like it's going to happen on my long run day, so I don't anticipate being able to do a live class. Bummer.
Food yesterday was better. Not great, but ok enough. Today is again a big question mark. Just going to make good choices where I can.

Hello all!
I have been digging all the swimming on vacation. I am just futzing around and not doing laps or anything, and I doubt it's really a workout, but it is movement and makes me feel SO much better. I have succeeded in not buying chips/dip/snacky things while on vacation (for the most part) and keeping fruit around. The downfall is cereal, which my kids like and will eat for breakfast, so I feel bad restricting that for them because I have trouble controlling myself. There's no scale here, so I have no idea what my weight is. Pants seem to fit just fine.

Hey all. Another active recovery day here. I logged some workout time with vigorous cleaning the house and then took a 2 mile walk pushing the stroller in our 75 degree dew point humidity so I was a dripping mess when we got back.

Yesterday I was a slug, but I got it together today for 13.1— such a mental milestone in training! I strung together 3 45 min peloton outdoor runs, and it also helped mentally to break it into chunks like that. Although in the first, when Matty announced we were at the halfway point, I chuckled to myself— not even close! I had a very laugh sob reaction to Becs telling me I was at the half way point during my 12 miler the other day because I was only 3 miles in. I feel for you on that! Nice work on the half. It is always such a milestone in marathon training.

Stayed up late last night as we were spending time with family at the lake (whom I haven’t seen in a year). We spent 3 hours driving home today, and I’m wiped, but managed a 5 mile ride.

Was feeling a bit smug after doing some of the workouts on the rower app and finding them fairly easy. Decided to do a race or two. Had to absolutely destroy myself to get fourth (they automatically match you with people of similar ability). So only the one race then. Cool, yes. Also will not be doing the laundry folding I had planned tonight.

I’ve been slacking on checking in but I’m still here chugging along. Got my 5th workout this week in tonight & my classes are stacked for tomorrow. Food has been fine this week but I’ve really been slacking on getting water in. I’ll have to make it a bigger focus this week. 10 min core w/ Adrian 10 min arms & shoulders w/ Jess 10 min chest & back w/ Olivia 20 min tabata ride w/ Robin

I spent the weekend taking care of things around the house. Lots of moving bins around in the garage, assembling an IKEA desk (kicking myself for not paying the $35 for Task Rabbit to deal with it), and organizing the new closets. I didn’t get a formal workout in but I’m pretty sore so I guess it all added up. My husband mentioned he hardly ever saw me sit down all weekend.

I had hoped to run today but had to take an unplanned rest day. My right knee and ankle have hurt all day today since I walked nearly 4 miles yesterday in flat shoes with no support. I have super high arches and as I get older I am realizing how I really need to wear sneakers for most activities so that I don't injure my feet and joints. Hoping it's better by tomorrow so that I can do the bike and strength after work.

We’re on our last night in the mountains and it’s been quite an active trip! Lots of walking and fun activities - I did an aerial park with the big kids this morning and was up 5 stories in the air, then they have you jump off a platform to get back down (harnessed) 😳. Fun, glad I did it as I’m not usually into extreme sports. Then I took the gondola up to the top of the mountain with the toddler to walk around while the big kids did this rollercoaster thing down the mountain with h.
Had some epic ice cream. Good weekend 👍

I am about to drive home, 9 hours, with 3 kids and FIL. It’s gonna be a long day! I ran 3 of the 4 mornings I was here and walked the 4th. Today I will skip and start back strong tomorrow. I have a ridiculously busy day scheduled so I’ll get up early and get a ride done.
Food has been pretty decent all week, but I’m ready to get back to routine.

30 minute interval run with Becs 30 minute strength for runners with Wilpers
I'll do a 20 minute yoga at bedtime too. I'm tired. The kids and I are going grocery shopping in a bit and I'm planning to have a good food day today. Not sure what I'm eating yet, but I'll figure it out. Food tomorrow and Wednesday will be meh because of plans we have and I'm kind of dreading it. I go back to work in a few weeks and none of my work clothes fit and I just want to slash my calories and dump some pounds. Ugh. I'm so annoyed with my body.

I haven't been great about checking in. Saturday I did 20 minute upper body strength with Callie and 10 minute core for runners with Becs. I felt the shoulder work on Saturday, so I would say it was a successful workout. Yesterday was an old 30 minute Motown run with Matty that I had bookmarked awhile ago. Now that I've made it ok with myself to not adhere strictly to the speed/incline cues, I'm going to go back through some old runs I have bookmarked and take them at my snail's pace. I was proud of myself for working out both days this weekend. Unfortunately, I couldn't fall asleep last night so I ended up sleeping in this morning instead of getting up.

Good morning! I haven't checked in in a while, but my workouts have been good! Yesterday was a rest day, but I've been either doing CF or running daily.
I sat down yesterday and put together our schedule for the next few weeks. The kids start school next Wednesday and their fall sports practices start today. They both have practices this week M-Th from 5:45 - 9:00 PM, then DS keeps on his M-Th 6-9 PM schedule and DD switches to T/Th 5:45-8 PM. I have no idea how I'm going to manage dinners. By the time I drop them both off I'll be able to get home for about an hour and a half before having to turn around and get them, but I have to sit around for an hour after I pick DD up while I wait for DS to finish. I've already been down on myself for how much weight I've put on and my inability to take it back off. This is going to be a nightmare.

Good morning everyone! I have been camping in a place with no phone service, which was nice and also I'm done with that. DH and I decided we've probably had enough so after next weekend we cancelled all of our camping reservations and I think we both felt kind of relieved. It's been an awesome summer but I think I want to enjoy the rest at home.
After the craziness of this summer I was practically dying to get up early this morning and come to work haha. I guess the vacation did it's magic. I started another fitness challenge with my cousins today and am trying to focus on the hardcore calendar this month, as well as home cooked meals.

I'm still down with the kids cold, so nothing serious happening yet, but I feel quite a bit better this morning, so I walked 3 miles at a much quicker pace than I have been. Hoping I just continue to feel better this week, and can add back in yoga and strength.

Active recovery day so I mowed the lawn and swept up the trimmings the bag didn't catch. It's hot out already, so I'm glad we have a postage stamp size yard.

Happy Monday! I had an appointment with my sports med doc this morning. I still have hip/ IT band pain, but it no longer radiates to my knee, and he said I’m much stronger after the 2 months of PT I’ve been doing. He also said I have the best glute strength of any of his marathoners, so I guess the hill work, barre, squats and band walks I’ve been doing are paying off!
I’m going to look into getting some acupuncture to supplement the physical therapy (recommended by my doc), and if at the end of September, I still have pain, I’ll get a cortisone shot.
Today should be a rest day for me. I may do an easy 5k, or I might just do a 30 minute recovery ride on the bike. Focusing on hydrating and lots of vegetables this week.

Hey all. I’ve been MIA for 2 weeks because we were on vacation at my parents’ house and I wasn’t posting much. The vacation was a mixed bag, healthwise. We all caught a nasty cold halfway through, but when we were healthy we did lots of hiking and swimming. My parents cook fairly healthy food, but use a lot of ingredients that irritate my IBS (all the beans), so I was not feeling my best while there in general.
The rest of August is going to be dedicated to getting back to a healthy baseline, in terms of exercise, nutrition, and GI tract comfort. I have a follow up GP appointment and I’d like to get my A1C down (it was at 6.5 my last visit and I’m considered high risk for metabolic syndrome). I’ve upped my exercise and reduced sugary carb snacking over the past few months, but I want to make sure to finish strong. Now that I’m home, I’m back to higher intensity hills on the elliptical three times a week, daily dog walks, and frequent pool swims. 🙂
B - half a blueberry muffin, coffee with creamer, banana L - chicken Caesar salad, apple S - trail mix D - chicken breast, grilled zucchini, onion, and cherry tomatoes, rice
