Good morning! I haven't checked in in a while, but my workouts have been good! Yesterday was a rest day, but I've been either doing CF or running daily. I sat down yesterday and put together our schedule for the next few weeks. The kids start school next Wednesday and their fall sports practices start today. They both have practices this week M-Th from 5:45 - 9:00 PM, then DS keeps on his M-Th 6-9 PM schedule and DD switches to T/Th 5:45-8 PM. I have no idea how I'm going to manage dinners. By the time I drop them both off I'll be able to get home for about an hour and a half before having to turn around and get them, but I have to sit around for an hour after I pick DD up while I wait for DS to finish. I've already been down on myself for how much weight I've put on and my inability to take it back off. This is going to be a nightmare. Oof. That’s a tough schedule. Is there any way to just have some easy stuff made a pre-portioned that you can just grab for dinners? I'm going through my meal ideas list now to see if there's anything that will be good to make-ahead. I hadn't thought about pre-portioning stuff for myself, that's a great idea. I was too busy freaking out about how I'm going to feed my kids!

I know your SO travels regularly, but, is he not able to pick up sometimes so it's only an issue 2 nights a week rather than every night?

I was too busy freaking out about how I'm going to feed my kids! This is where you need to keep it simple. Either make some chicken or get a rotisserie chicken. Put it on a salad. Put it in a wrap. Want something warm? Get some containers that will keep things warm (we have some Thermos Funtainers). You can throw chicken and rice in those, or mac and cheese or whatever. Nuke it, put it in, close them up. Done. If the kids will eat wraps, great. If not, sandwiches are easy to transport. Add some veggie (sliced cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, whatever they will eat) and some fruit with it. Don't try to get fancy with it. Save those for the nights you aren't running around. And check what options are at gas stations. Some really have some decent choices, and it's ok to have a burger or pizza with them.

I convinced MH to go out with us this morning before going to bed (he’s post call). It was soo humid. We got 1.3 miles in and I jogged maybe half that to keep up with DS on his bike. Did post-run yoga when we got home and then my PT stretches.
It’s weird to have a non-routine routine. Sticking with “something is better than nothing” especially mental health wise.

Buy some meal portion containers and pre make a week's worth of dinners for yourself on Sunday in advance. If you kids are less picky then just feed them whatever.

Oof to last week, but I enjoyed it. Vacation and no tracking, lots of ice cream cake and the scale is definitely showing it. No biggie, though, for once I'm not panicking. It will drop.
Now I need advice from fellow runners. Things like speed intervals, hill intervals, fartleks, tempo, I don't mind those. Once in a while, though, Hal hits me with a race simulation in my training, like today is a 5K sim, so I need to run the 3.1 at a much faster pace than normal. For some reason these workouts FREAK ME OUT. I don't know how to get out of my head about them.

My advice would be to get off the treadmill, put your favorite race playlist on your headphones, and do it by feel, so that you aren’t constantly looking at your pace. But I know you love the treadmill, so this might not work for you. Maybe throw a towel over your dashboard and do something similar on the tread.

I have been trying to keep up, but haven’t posted. My new project has so many meetings, it’s already killing me. 😂 I did a 20 minute Pop ride w/Cody last week, but mainly have been trying to get in walks with H when we have a break at the same time. H’s birthday was also last week so we had take out a couple times.
This morning I did 45 min Pop ride w/Cody. Food has been good, but I am making someone’s wedding cake today (they get married Wednesday) and it’s going to be hard to resist the scraps!

Hey hey.
20 min glutes and legs with Selena, 10 min glutes with Chase, 10 min core with Callie, 20 min pop ride with Cody.
B - toast, turkey bacon, fruit L - SmartOnes fettucine alfredo (running low on groceries) + salad D - chicken fajitas S - ?
Weekend was super fun but lots of eating out and boat drinking. This will honestly be so much easier for me in the fall when I am not day drinking so much, lol.

We go home from the beach tomorrow and it's been a lot of fried food and wine. I've walked on the beach 3x so that's better than nothing. As of tomorrow I'm back to no alcohol for the foreseeable future. Food needs to be cleaned up majorly.

I had several appts. today and then received some sad/shocking news about some people I’m close to. Decided I had to jump on my bike just to take the emotional edge off. 5 miles only but it helped.

Glad you had a good vacation Rusty Red! As for the run, having speed or hill intervals, etc gives me something to focus on so I too struggle with the other ones sometimes. It helps to try distracting myself so I will sometimes cover up the dashboard and turn on a show or movie while I do the run.

Hi everyone! I haven’t been checking in lately and will never catch up if I start at the beginning so I’m just starting the thread on this page. Our air quality has been terrible here lately and therefore my asthma has been terrible too, so I spent most of July just walking and didn’t get many miles in. The lack of physical activity isn’t great for my mental health so I’m trying to get my running built back up. As our boo Cody would say, I “need to get my life together” this month on the exercise front and get into more of a routine with my days. I’ll worry about my nutrition next month.
Today I ran 3 miles and did an upper body workout.

Met with my trainer for chest, shoulders, and core today. It was a hard one too. I love chest day, I always feel strong doing tough push movements.

He's trying to kill me with squats guys. Today was the same as Friday (4 sets of 4) except add a little more weight. And the heat index was over 110, so fun. My back is still toast from Friday/Saturday. Then some heavy singles on bench that I had to reign in as well because my back is freaking tired. Took the weight that was there today and will save the PR for the platform.

Today was a rest day for me. I took my kids to the park though and embarrassed myself playing basketball. Then they complained the whole way home so I took a rage walk and let DH deal with all of that lol. I also took myself out to dinner. I crossed the river into MN for the first time in months and grabbed some Chipotle. It did remind me that I’m only a couple of miles away from being able to run the whole river crossing loop. I’m going to set that as a goal for myself.

has anybody done cupping? I have an appt this afternoon to try it. This comes after I pretended like I was a child and took my kids to an inflatable water park on the lake. My shoulders and arms are destroyed lol. There were no footholds on anything. Just all reliant on upper body strength. It was fun tho haha. yes. It was helpful but needling works better for me. I actually need to make an appointment.

Yup, he's actually coaching football on the days he's home, so it will be a lot easier on those nights. I can get DD at 8, then come home and get her fed and ready for bed. Days like today when he's traveling, I'll have to pick DD up then go sit at DS's practice until it's over. I think I need to just accept that our nights will be late and dinner may or may not happen. This is our life for awhile. Good bye to my 9:30/10 PM bedtime.

Thanks, all. I really thought I would panic but I was pretty good with it all. I had a couple of oh hell moments, but mostly just enjoyed the time with DS.
I also managed the 5K sim yesterday, it wasn't an actual race, just a prescribed run on my plan. Wasn't quite as fast as it should have been, but I did all right, managed to just barely squeak out sub-30 on the 5K portion.
Today was my Tuesday bike/run brick. That was a little ouch after yesterday. Arms too.

I did a sweat steady ride yesterday afternoon and my legs were mush. Idk what I’m doing today but not that!
Anyone have favorite arm workouts? I like the ride + arms ones okay but want a good 10 min upper body option I think.

CF this morning. It was already 74 degrees at 6 AM. The afternoon classes are going to melt. My legs are super sore from lunges and squat cleans yesterday, and my upper body is going to be sore from snatches and pull-ups today. 95% sure tomorrow will be a rest day.
I need to force myself to make a menu for the rest of this month. Right now I have ground venison and ground pork thawing on the counter. I figure I should be able to do something with that, right?

And if the next oh hell moment start going another way mentally, come back to this (whether it's this thread or journal about it or whatever) as a reminder that it is temporary and corrects itself when you go back to your normal.
