Happy weekend!
I did Cody's 20 minute Disney ride this morning. It was delightful and perfect to shake my legs out. That's it for me today.
The baby has his one year pictures this morning then the kids and I are going to Syracuse for a couple of days while H works crazy hours, so food is whatever.
I am both looking forward to and dreading tomorrow's long run.

Trying to get the motivation to remove myself from my outdoor couch, set down my coffee and magazine, and move. It hasn’t happened yet. I’m sore from CF this week - it was a ton of squats and lunges. I was thinking of doing an easy outdoor walk/run on the peloton app, but H suggested taking the kids and dogs to the park for a walk/run/kids bike on the 8.5 mile paved loop around the lake. It will be a complete and utter shit show I’m sure, but it also sounds nice to do something different. And I can use the kids/dogs are tired to not push myself too hard. 😉

7+ mile walk at a quick pace this AM with a girlfriend; I'm whipped but glad to have gotten that done. We chatted nonstop and it went by quickly.
Enjoy your Saturday!
Dinner will be skinny taste / Paleomg carnitas (I combine the 2 recipes.)

Man I'm really bummed out 😟 Last Saturday I ran 8 miles, then 4 miles Monday. I left for a work trip, and when I put on my shoes Tuesday, I couldn't even walk in them. I have a pain below my right ankle; it doesn't hurt at all when I walk but I definitely couldn't wear my shoes. So I figured I'll just rest through my trip, get home Friday and in the afternoon try to do a treadmill run and still can't run. The relay race starts next Friday and I'm freaking out a bit. I'm going to RICE as much as possible but I don't know what else to do at this point. Ordering new shoes seems risky - I have Asics and I've LOVED them so far, absolutely no foot pain up until now. And this morning I woke up with what I hope is a just a cold. Ugh. I'm just really hoping I can run because I don't want to let down the team! Plus I'll be super pissed if I did all this training for nothing!

I have been sort of absent this week around here, mostly because my mental space has been all over the place. But I’m still sticking to my workouts so that is good.
Today I did a bit of cardio and strength. 20 min 2000s ride with Cody 10 min arms and shoulders with Adrian 10 min light weights and arms with Cody
I really hate pike push-ups and that was one of two moves that were EMOMs for the whole time with Adrian, I was not happy, ha.

I think 45 minute rides are my jam. I ended in the top 15 in the here now (with like 80 people, but still). I’m like that with running too, I just need that time to warm up before I really hit my stride I think. New PR today!
I love this bike.

Disappeared for a couple days after both my kids came home with colds on their first day at school so I’ve been preoccupied with them being home since. Got out to the gym this morning for a nice 4 mile run though.
5 minute warm up run with Matty 20 minute Happy run with Becs 20 minute Pop Punk run with Chase
I agree on the lack of running content. I don’t run every day so there is usually plenty of tread content for me, but I end up doing every outdoor run and walk that aren’t intervals or HIIT multiple times. Especially the 45-60 minute, is there really such a high demand for 20 minute runs? That’s barely a workout for me, I always have to stack them. Probably because I’m slow - I can’t even get to two miles in a 20 minute run. And yes - more Wilpers runs, always. He is my favorite run instructor, tied with Becs.

30 minute outdoor run with Selena this afternoon. I went to go this morning, but the kids insisted it was the perfect time to go to the library. It was a bit warm, but not terrible, and I got it done.

budders I like your organizer! shesellscshells I hope you and your family feel better soon. Glad all tests were negative! snowyowl I hope your shoulder feels better soon notexactly Congratulations on your 50th run! FlightView I don’t always have sore muscles from workouts. They tend to show up after I increase/add/change things, but it’s still usually less than when I first started. lunarscallion I hope you feel better soon. beatch I hope your foot/ankle feels better soon. It might be worth looking into doing an ice massage instead of just ice packs - I hate them, but they get swelling down faster for me. I freeze a paper cup full of water, then tear the top of the paper off so I have about 1/4 inch of just ice sticking out, and tear off more paper as needed. You can use just ice cubes, especially for a tiny area, but the paper gives you something to hold onto. For ankles/feet, my physical therapist has me do 4-7 minutes of rubbing the ice in circles directly on the swollen/painful areas. Since it’s ice directly on skin instead of an ice pack with a barrier, you do 4-7 minutes instead of 15-20, and you do need to watch your skin and make sure you’re not getting it too cold.

I did the Tunde 30 minute live ride this morning with my sister for her birthday. Unfortunately she didn’t get a shout out like she hoped, but she definitely motivated me to get on the bike. It’s been forever since I’ve done a live ride, and it was fun to be there with her from a distance. My birthday is in a few weeks, so I think I’ll ask her to do the same.
I really want to get out for a run tomorrow. If I can’t get at least 5 miles in tomorrow, I am not sure that I’ll be able to salvage any plans of doing the half in October, especially since we will be away on vacation this upcoming week and I don’t see myself being able to run while we’re gone. It’s just been so hard to get myself up and out in the morning since I’m out of my normal work routine, and then the day gets away from me.

Now I am doing a 5 min “just run” to see if it will make my badge show up!

7 mile run outside this morning & then 6 hours at the beach. I'm ready for a cool bath after so much sun. Sorry that you're sick, lunarscallion-hope you enjoyed the pho! Yum. Fx your injury is feeling better soon, beatch. What crappy timing, I'm sorry. If you're unable to do the relay maybe you can find another fun race to put all that hard training towards something.

Hate, hate, hate them 😂 But they work really well, and I hate ice in general. So taking less time is a good thing 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t mind them on the swelling around my knee - but under my ankle? Damn it’s cold.

I just finished an ice massage on both knees, ankles, feet, and one wrist. I’m sitting here with ice on my ribs and one hip, and heating pads on my back, neck, and shoulders.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to start a new exercise program again (Jeannie Di Bon's program). I did it for a while, but I dropped it because I didn’t have enough time. I have to be careful about how quickly I add activity, so I’ll start slow.
I have been doing really well with meditating and foam rolling lately. Those really help keep me in a good place.

melohdy I bet it’s so nice to have your DH back home again! lunarscallion hope you are feeling better now. beatch major bummer about your injury and the timing. On Thursday I hit 2,000 overall miles on my bike odometer. That was fun to see. I have to look up when I originally got it but I know I added 835 miles last summer. Yesterday I biked 6 miles.

Fuck, man.
That long run was complete bullshit. I knew a mile in it wasn't going to happen. I only did 11 out of the 16 I needed and I walked quite a bit, causing my average pace to be a good minute plus slower than usual for my current long run pace. I'm super frustrated. I did everything right,I had everything right, but my body was very HARD NO BITCH at me. I'm feeling a bit discouraged about my race. It's in 6 weeks and I'm definitely not going to be as thoroughly trained as I wanted to be. Frick.
Food will be whatever. Don't care.

Happy Sunday! It's been a few days since I posted. I've been busy this week with DS being home due to daycare being closed for vacation, and also getting ready for his 5th birthday party, which was yesterday. I did get all the HCOTF workouts in this week (the main strength ones, I always skip the yoga days). I did the 30 min Spice Girls boot camp yesterday + 5 min core with Olivia for a quick workout before the party. No workout today.
Food hasn't been great this weekend - takeout Friday night, pizza and other party food yesterday, plus we had friends over for drinks both Fri and Sat night. DS is 5 today so we'll probably get ice cream later. I'll try to do better Mon-Thurs lol.

I’m sorry cnf. I think with any training plan for a long distance race, there are going to be runs that suck, sometimes for no apparent reason. Hang in there!

I’m sorry cnf. I think with any training plan for a long distance race, there are going to be runs that suck, sometimes for no apparent reason. Hang in there! Absolutely. I remember last time I trained for a marathon my 17 miler felt so good and I could have easily kept running for miles more. My 18 miler was brutal and awful and I hated every second of it. Same conditions, same fuel, same rest, same pre run rituals and foods, and hydrating. I don't know. Bodies are weird. It just sucks because my parents were willing to watch my kids for as long as I wanted to run today. Now I'm going to have to do the rest of my long runs on the treadmill.

Bench went ok yesterday. I was dragging a bit (a lot) and had trouble focusing. It's been a while since I spaced out in the middle of a bench rep. Always a quality idea with 203 in your hands.
I think my arm issue is stemming from my scalenes, which is just lovely. Not a new issue, just a change in the referred pain pattern.
My weight is stalled which I know will change but it's annoying. Libra telling me I will hit my goal in 2298 isn't as motivating as they think it is.

I made it to Denis' live reggae slow flow this morning (8am PST) and got a shoutout for my 200th class. It was a lovely and relaxing flow, balance-focused but not too challenging. I barely got sweaty. It was so relaxed that my Apple Watch didn't even give me 30 exercise minutes! (Not going to lie, annoyed about that.)
I'm hoping to get a walk + run in on the multi-use path later today, but for now I have to help H get packed and prepped for his trip up to Portland this afternoon. He'll only be gone until Tuesday evening, really quick trip to move his oldest into his dorm (!!).
