I had a NSV today. Both my shorts and a pair of jeans that were tight at the beginning of the summer, now fit comfortably! Not loose yet to need the next size down but definite progress.

Bench this morning. Still having some issues with keeping my butt down, but I managed to keep it down for at least couple reps.
I think the 102.5kg (226) was a PR.

7 mile ride yesterday 10 mile ride this morning
My clothes are fitting a little snug so decided I needed to weigh to confirm my suspicions, and yep, I’ve up a few pounds. Typically I lose a little in the summer due to all the activity but I guess I’ve been a little more indulgent than I should. Chips & chocolate are my weakness. I’m not cutting out, just cutting back.

Neighbor and I started walking together when covid hit but we gave it up as it got cold. She got a peloton and I went back to the gym. We decided to walk to the land bridge our city built. 8 miles r/t at abt 16 min mile pace. I’m whipped! It was great exercise and a great workout and we hope to start back up on Saturdays.

I’m sore from yesterday, it’s stinkin hot and we have packing to do. Our PODS get here Mon. 😳. Will do a long yoga today or this evening.
I think... I feel more like “me” lately. Like I legit have no idea where we are gonna be living, we have a super temporary place when we leave here. And it’s all... ok?! I’m aware that I’m just one trigger away from having to do some serious deep breathing, I’m watching the whole delta thing from far far away and still avoiding such topics and thoughts but I’m def not as on edge as I have been.
Also NSV, we did “it” for the first time since my panic attack.... back in March I think? 😳😬. Was vvv good.

I’ve gotten in a better groove with workouts this week. I ran 3 miles yesterday and did a 30 minute ride this morning. I’m hoping to walk a little bit later but first I need to get my disaster of a house cleaned.

20 minute 80s ride with Sam 10 minute arms with Tunde 10 minute core with Andy 20 minute chest and back with Chase (buyer beware, this class is ONLY pushups and rows) 15 minute intermediate yoga flow with Kirra
I really need to get chores done around the house today, but I got sucked into searching for Lego pieces for a very specific set we're trying to put back together. Ouch.
Happy weekend!

14 mile run done! I didn't get out until noon so it was HOT, but I ran around the bay and the breeze helped. Plus the scenery and people watching. I peeled off my tank and took a swim in my sports bra and shorts afterward, which really felt amazing. Leaving old beach towels in my trunk really paid off!

Finally starting to get back in the swing of things! 2 rides in 2 days.
45 minute intervals and arms with Emma yesterday 45 minute pop ride with Hannah F today
Both were good. Really loved the pop ride! Super fun eclectic playlist.
Next week my goal is to add back in strength. Hopefully school isn’t a complete shitshow and I can get back into a routine! I will need to do some serious meal planning, too.

Got out for a 5 mile run today. It is beautiful out. I will try to get up and bike in the morning before church and maybe run in the evening. This week has been crazy and next will not be better. FIL has colon surgery and the kids start school. I’m just trying to do what I can when I can.

I went to turn my bike on last night and it was not powering on. I checked all cables, everything was plugged in and nothing. 😨 Then I saw that the cable connecting in the middle was unplugged, but one of running shoes was blocking it, so I didn’t see it right away. Phewww. I seriously thought it was done for.

Did my first ever outdoor 8-mile run yesterday. OMG. It was pretty tough. The longest distance I've previously run outdoors is 4 miles and very early before it got sunny and hot. It took me 1 hour 33 minutes with a few walk breaks.
My cousin, who's part of our relay team at the end of this month, ran a 15k and then went off to a day of family activities like it was nothing. BITCH. It took me probably 4 hours to feel decent afterwards. I did a cool soak and drank a lot of protein and Gatorade afterwards. I also probably should have hydrated better before this race.
For more long-distance runners - what do you eat before a run of this distance? I had a piece of peanut butter toast, which probably wasn't enough.
Going to walk a couple of miles on the treadmill today. My legs actually don't feel that bad today, but I did a ton of stretching and used our massage gun on them, so that helped for sure.

I tried to google but the “beginner” workouts seem intimidating.
My gym has a weight lifting circuit setup, what is a good general rep count to start with? I’ll start with the lowest weight I guess.
I also read cardio should be done after weights.
So is it-
Warm up Weights Cardio
What should a workout frequency be for a beginner?

Congrats on the new distance accomplishment! Before a long run, I like to have water, coffee, and toast with PB or AB, sliced banana (about 1/2 a banana) and honey.

I’m on vacation!!!! I did not get up early enough this morning to do my long run before it was too hot, but I got in 5 miles barefoot on the beach. It felt amazing. 2 hour run on deck for tomorrow morning.

Congrats, great job getting it done! I think it’s completely individual preference re: what to eat. I run on a empty stomach until I get to 10+ miles, then I just have a granola or power bar and I take fuel (usually gummies of some kind). But you should try out different things to see what works best for you!

We had a debate about this a while back in this thread, there is no "right" order to do weights and cardio. I personally like doing cardio first, I find it easier to warm my body up that way, and then do weights. So do what feels good for you!

They have some great beginner strength (and cardio) programs. I know most of us are hardcore peloton junkies so this probably isn’t a surprise that that would be the recommendation lol. But I love it!

I’m finally utilizing their kid care.

I also read cardio should be done after weights. So is it- Warm up Weights Cardio What should a workout frequency be for a beginner? As was said, whatever order works better for you. You also don't have to do both the same day, but for starting out you probably won't want long weight sessions anyway. For the first week, I wouldn't get hung up on a routine. How many things are in the circuit? If it's a bunch, then split it up to upper body stuff and lower body stuff. This week aim for sets of 8-10 reps. Start with the lowest and work up from there. Try to find a weight that the last 2 or 3 are challenging and if you did more, your form would start to fall apart (and if you overshoot and it does get too heavy, it's fine. That happens. It's not a single rep max so not a huge deal). Get an idea of what weight you can handle for things, then work on picking a workout setup. What all do you have access too? Lots of machines, mostly free weights/dumbbells? If there are both, try out both options.

It's gorgeous out today so I walked to the multi-use path to do a couple of walk/run classes on the Peloton app. It's a little more than a mile from my house, so that walk plus two 20-minute classes plus the walk back added up to almost 6 miles! Finished up with a core class and the 20 minute quads-focused yoga flow from today's HCOF stack.
We're going to the pool with a classmate of DS2 later today. School starts Thursday!

GhoatMonket thank you that was helpful. I did 8 reps of 3 on 5 different machines, they had 10 machines in the circuit. The first 5 focused on legs so that’s also good. I actually ran out of time, the cardio and weights took longer than I expected. I was reading the instructions on each machine… luckily the gym was empty this Sunday morning. I did 35 minutes on an elliptical, they don’t have peloton 😂

Family let me sleep in again today. 🥰 we made pancakes, watched church and then went out for a bit longer today, nearly 4 miles. My shins are sore, hopefully won’t be worse tomorrow. Otherwise it’s been a restful Sunday.

I haven’t checked in all week but I’ve done what I can while in Maine. I did a handful of short runs, some barre and core classes and called it good. We’re headed home tomorrow and I’ll be happy to be back with my tread and weights!
