I just finished Local Woman Missing and enjoyed it. I do find Mary Kubica’s writing style to be choppy so it doesn’t flow as well as I would like but it was a good story nonetheless.
My hold for The Rose Code came through so I’ll dive into that tonight.

Our woman in Moscow was excellent. If you like historical fiction Beatriz Williams should be a must read.

I finished The Unhoneymooners and I loved it. Are the rest of their books good?
I started Such a Quiet Place I’m a little nervous most of the reviews say the first half is boring

In addition to The Unhoneymooners, I liked Josh & Hazel and The Soulmate Equation, but haven’t liked any of their others.

The rest were meh.

If the Shoe Fits - I liked the premise, but ultimately the romance felt completely forced (insta-love). The main characters just didn’t feel real to me. I ended up skimming the last third just to see how the plot wrapped up.
The Dating Playbook - This was cute. It’s the second in a series, but I thought this one was way better than the first.

I just finished True Colors which was OK. 3.5 stars. Classic OG Hannah where she gives too many details in places that I didn’t really care about and then glosses over the places where I want more.
Now I’m reading The Family Plot, Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria, and The Red Pyramid (with my kid).

I read Meet Me in Paradise and liked it. I actually wasn’t a fan of the first half of the book because the love story felt flat to me but I really liked the second half, although it was definitely bittersweet.
I also finished To Sir, With Love, which was a very fluffy romcom. It’s a pretty faithful update of You’ve Got Mail/Shop Around the Corner. It wasn’t a fast read and pretty cute.
I’m sticking with romance and giving The Secret Bridesmaid a try next.

I can't make myself start another book. I think I'm read out for a bit. This is me right now. I read so many books in July that I burnt myself out.

I can't make myself start another book. I think I'm read out for a bit. Same for me. Instead of forcing myself to push through, I'm just taking a break and watching more TV right now.

I definitely in a bit of a rut too. The only thing that sounds good are beachy reads about nantucket so that's what I've been doing (and at a slow pace).

I'm currently reading The Guncle. It started slow but I'm really getting into it now. So far it's very sweet and delightful. I'm only halfway in though.

I read It Ends With Us yesterday. It wasn't what I was expected and I was really worried how it would end since people talked about how sad it was but I was happy with how it ended up. I saw on Tik Tok that apparently there is a petition going around for Colleen Hoover to make another book. That would be awesome. And the book is going to be made into a movie.

I finished Evelyn Hardcastle a day or two ago. I ended up really loving it.
Now I am listening to People We Meet on Vacation - it's narrated by the same woman who read Malibu Rising. So far it's cute.
I'm bouncing back and forth between The Ladies of the Secret Circus and The Once and Future Witches, as well.

So I was looking for a book I preordered in my digital orders the other day, and I was faced with how much money I spend on Kindle books. It’s indefensible when libraries are a thing. Then I saw my library changed their website so I could apply for a card online! It arrived today and it was stupid easy to find books from the new romance author I like and download them. Excited to see what I can do with all the money I save from not saying “but it’s only $4.99!” A hundred+ times a year. I probably sent Bezos to space. And I won’t have to worry about what happens when my kids get old enough to read my Kindle books. What is ‘The Earl Who Disrobed a Debutante in a Rose Garden and then Had to Marry Her but then They Fell in Love for Real’ about Mom? Too bad kid, it’s headed back to the library!

I DNF A duke, the lady, and a baby. Got almost 30% through and NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. My hold on the kiss quotient came through, so I read that one. Pretty cute. I identified so much with Stella. adelbert my hold on all systems red was super short! I finished it in two days. It loosely reminded me of XJ from the star of the guardians series that I read as a teen. So I’m rereading the first one called The Lost King.

I'm almost done with Malibu Rising. Flying through it, for me. I didn't realize how far I was from finishing Anthropocene Reviewed when my loan ended. Womp womp. I'll definitely check out the audio again to finish. I feel like every chapter is better than the previous.

Finally finished my reread of Outlander #7 yesterday. Man those books are long! It always takes me about a third of the way to get invested and then I obsessively read them non stop through the finish.
It took so long, I’m several books behind on my Goodreads annual goal now. I feel like Outlander books should count for at least 2-3 regular size books.

I finished Secrets of a Charmed Life last night- best book I have read in a LONG time. I couldn’t put it down!
Also finished Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid- I liked it a lot.
I’m trying to read the book with Moon in the title (can’t remember the name right now) about the wife who leaves her husband letters after she dies. I’m barely into it because I keep having to stop due to crying- I kind of feel like I’m reading another P.S I Love You though?

Still working through Agatha Christie and Tessa Dare. I finished The Body in the Library (AC), The Moving Finger (AC), and Say Yes to the Marquess (TD). Next up is When a Scot Ties the Knot, which sounds very promising. Alternating two of my favorite genres seems to be working well to keep me engaged and distracted from perseverating on the current back-to-school mess.

I stayed up late to finish Malibu Rising. Loved it. I think my TJR books go: 1. Evelyn Hugo 2. Malibu Rising 3. Daisy Jones
I tried to read some of her older books after Daisy Jones, but I just couldn't get into them. Maybe I'll give them another shot. I like the way she weaves her characters into the same universe without it being a series.

I just received an email from Amazon with a statement from Kate Quinn that says if I liked The Rose Code, I must try The Riveria House (Natasha Lester) coming out Aug 31- WW2, espionage, protecting art at the Louvre.
