I think Iβve been reading too much. Everything is just kind blah. House By the Cerulean Sea was meh. Bookish Life of Nina Hill had a few really great parts, but was ok. I have the Royal Holiday from the library and Iβm not even interested. I hate when this happens. Sometimes i find a complete change of my usual genre can help

Finally finished Local Woman Missing. I flew through the first half but then didn't have much reading time so it took me awhile to finish. Overall I really enjoyed it and thought it was a good page turner. There were a few story holes that bugged me and I guessed the ending pretty quickly but I would still say it's one of the better thrillers I have read recently. Pretty sure I want to read another. Any suggestions? I know Iβve recommended her here before but have you tried any of Sharon Boltonβs mysteries? I really like her and enjoyed her latest, The Pact. I also thought her book Little Black Lies was great. Looking these up now

I couldnβt even finish Nina Hill, I thought it went dramatically downhill in the second half after a promising start.

I just finished Fugitive Telemetry which is #6 in the Murderbot Series by Martha Wells. It was fantastic.
Also I recommend this series to *anyone* who likes sci fi even just a bit. It's a series about a human like sentient "Bot" who is used by corporations in space. The first book is the Bot escaping from that and then the following books are the Bot's journey. So much growth happens and the Bot has a sarcastic humor that I really enjoy.
Plus almost all the books are novellas so really easy to read even when a lot is going on.
The series makes me really happy so if you're in a slump I suggest it.

I finished Local Woman Missing I liked it but was disappointed by the end, but that seems normal for these types of books with me. {Spoiler}I really didn't like Meredith. Why so much secrets

I recently finished Bunny and The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. tatorhead328 I absolutely loved Bunny! I feel like I want to write a thesis on it lol. It was so insightful about so many things, and she captured perfectly the feeling of being trapped in a nightmare, which is a feeling I love in a book. And it was just so well crafted, I was so impressed by her writing. I put a hold on both her previous novel and her new one. I enjoyed Evelyn Hardcastle but the enjoyment came from the fascinating premise and being propelled by the plot. The actual writing was unremarkable and I felt like the pacing was off at times. I'm 1/3 of the way through Long Bright River. I remember somebody here saying they liked this book, so when I went into the library to pick up some holds I grabbed it when I saw it on the front shelf. It's an express loan so I only have a week to read it. I am now firmly trapped in the library loop and my TBR pile at home will be neglected for some time. Next up are What Was She Thinking? by Zoe Heller and The Night Watch by Sarah Waters.

Has anyone read Exciting Times by Naoise Dolan? I read about it this morning as it's been optioned by Phoebe Dynevor who will star in and produce - and the premise looks good! Lots of positive feedback on Goodreads about it, but I admit I skimmed because I don't want to accidentally read a spoiler.

mintyblueair, YES EXACTLY. You know how some books just have this... aesthetic, or something? That book makes me feel fuzzy around the edges like a dream sequence from an unsettling movie. I don't know how authors even do that, but Bunny was it for me. I thought it was crazy impressive.

The Plot wasβ¦weird. Has anyone else read it? I would say it was a quasi-thriller with lots of meta elements. I loved it at times but I think I mostly hated it? It left me feeling very confused lol. Not about what happened, just about what it was trying to do/be.
Anyway, Iβm going to try Meet Me in Paradise next. Iβm in the mood for a romance.

I just need a short break from the murder and mayhem of thrillers.

Welcome to Subirdia by John Marzluff focused on a interesting subject matter (birds adapting to suburban/urban settings, environmental amnesia, etc) but his writing didnβt grab me. The fact that I loved the last couple books Iβve read is probably influencing my opinion. It also makes me nervous since I have some of his other books on my tbr list.

I'm currently reading When The Reckoning Comes by LaTanya McQueen an I'm liking it so far. It's a horror story (ish) that is about a young woman returning home for a friends wedding - the first few pages gripped me, so I'm excited about it.
From Goodreads: A haunting novel about a black woman who returns to her hometown for a plantation wedding and the horror that ensues as she reconnects with the blood-soaked history of the land and the best friends she left behind.

I did really enjoy some pieces of Bunny. I felt she really captured self consciousness, group think, and some serious morality topics. Itβs definitely a thinker but Iβm not sure if I liked itβ¦

Iβve been in a reading slump lately, but my mom took me book shopping for my birthday and I came home with 3 historical fiction novels Iβm excited about. Starting Our Woman in Moscow after bedtime and then Woman of Intelligence and Yours Cheerfully will be going on my getaway with me next week.

I read It's Better This Way. I had started it outside Saturday thinking I wanted a quick romance, but put it down because I guessed the Conflict already. I finished it last night and yep I was right. It was an ok book

I started The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty since it was on Kindle Unlimited. Itβs kind of all over the place at the beginning.
I also plan to start watching the Nine Perfect Strangers Hulu series when we get back home.

I read A Good Mother. It was ok. I'm halfway through Long Bright River which is excellent and extra fun because it takes place so geographically close to me.
