We just applied for DS’s first passport yesterday and we were told it will be here in 18 weeks. So if vaccines for his age group could line up with that, that would be just great. I’ll book a flight outta here the day it comes.

The Pfizer CEO was on Andy Slavitt's podcast recently and when asked directly about ages 5-11, he said they thought they'd have data "after summer." I've read elsewhere they said they said having data in "late September" in some shareholder reports. It's taken about a month for FDA EUA approval after having the data. I'm hoping for somewhere between late Sept-late Oct to actually be able to walk in and get a first Pfizer shot for that age range. But we shall see. I thought the issue was they were asked for more data. They presented once and was asked for more. See this next group will be thr first to get a different volume amount so they are unsure how long it is effective. 12 to adult had gotten the same amount. If I'm making sense. They were asked for more as in more time.

Anyone else lost all sense of time with everything? I could not for the life of me remember when I had my vaccine. I had to check my card. 🤦♀️
Could have been spring, could have been a year ago.

Our pediatrician said today that she heard some unofficial news that we could see vaccines for the younger kids at the end of August. She knows the trial doctors at our hospital so I'm going to lean into this info Jesus I fucking hope so!

Re: masks protecting the wearer - this is a doctor I follow and have seen speak in a professional capacity. I trust her information (but also recognize that everyone has to do their own vetting). Anyways, it’s here if you feel it’s for you. www.instagram.com/reel/CSAtJTxJ8O4/?utm_medium=copy_link

Yeah, that tracks. Pfizer is saying data by late September and then we wait for the FDA to approve. They've been taking about a month but it's possible they take longer and it's into November. Not to say that Pfizer isn't being conservative in their public statements and couldn't finish up data slightly earlier. But for shots in arms to happen in late August, they'd have to have the data like now. I asked about that and she said they were already reviewing things. Who the hell knows. I should start one of those super bowl betting square things

Masks do protect the wearer. It's been known since last spring. If the entry to my system is my nose and mouth... But I cover my nose and mouth best I can then... You know.

This article said they were looking for more number of participants (so 3,000 kids in the 5-11 range instead of a required 1,500) but doesn't say anything about following them longer. It does say that the heart conditions typically occur within 2 weeks of shots so I would imagine they were already following the participants that far out. But I don't know and it's a good point. www.nytimes.com/2021/07/26/us/politics/fda-covid-vaccine-trials-children.html

I'm in CA and our county fair is supposed to be next week. Our county ALSO just recorded its fourth highest single day case count since the start of *all this*. I can't imagine having to be the person to make the call about whether or not to cancel when it's a week out. There would be literal riots; but it would be very very wise since people come from all over to go to our fair.

My kids also went unmasked since the CDC initially changed guidance. We had single digital cases daily, basically no hospitalizations, and they had covid so we know they have some level of protection. We felt safe having our kids in the occasional store sans mask. That is no longer the case and we're back to full masking. But yeah, no, H and I fully vaxxed and we made very calculated decisions on risk for them to have some mask free outings. I don't feel bad about it 🤷🏻♀️

Their penis protects them from all harm. Omg imagine if a new variant comes out that makes dicks drop off? 🤞 You should just start a rumor about the new FL variant. It’ll take off like wildfire. We will help you go viral. If the anti vaxxers can spread misinformation so can we.

The baby has spiked a fever and I had to go pick him up from daycare. He tested negative for COVID last weekend. How many COVID tests will he need over the duration of a cold? It’s such a weird time, man. But yea, I know it’s possible he picked up CV in that time but I’m hoping it’s still just the same cold. Ugh I’m sorry. Fx for another negative (I’m assuming you need to test him again?) I wasn’t able to get an appointment today so I’ll try first thing tomorrow.

Don't all come moving to Ohio now. It will lose its appeal. I think you're in the clear on that one.

Hello from urgent care, where there were even people in the waiting room not masked. Despite the giant “masks required” signs. FFS. (Fortunately, I’m here by myself and can wait outside.) I maintain that even if the masks provide a greater benefit to other people, not oneself, the messaging should’ve been “wear a mask to protect yourself.” Because that’s all anyone in ‘Merica cares about. I went to urgent care this past weekend and about 5% of the people I saw were masked, staff included. I thought it was still required in a health care setting, but apparently I was mistaken. It was confusing given Delta. Wow, I don’t know what I would do if I encountered that. People did away with masks very quickly around here but medical settings are still very serious.

I was going to the gym for half of the year wearing two masks because at one point we were told one mask wasn’t enough to protect us from Covid. Like, what happened to that? I’m back to double masking indoors. 🤷🏻♀️

Preschool is only doing masks when the kids leave their classroom because the kids get the masks wet, constant touching so it’s “not working anyway” I’m thinking of sending ds3 in his mask anyway. My kids' preschool did this. They work masks outside of the classroom and when they were playing outside. I will say that the 5 year old's mask was covered in spit and disgusting every day so there were times I questioned was it even doing anything for him. That seems counterintuitive.

I’m back to double masking indoors. 🤷🏻♀️ My point is what happened to that guidance? A few months ago, it was “one mask won’t prevent Covid, you need two.” Now, it’s, “delta is here, put a mask on.” But if delta has a viral load 1000x than the original strain, than what will a single mask do? It’s just inconsistent, there was a hard push for two masks. And now it’s abandoned.
