I finished In Five Years on audio. It was not at all what the blurb made it sound like, it wasn't really a romance at all. But I kept wanting to listen to it more so I guess I did like it?
It's about a woman who nails a job interview and gets engaged and the same night, has a dream/vision/something of herself in five years in a different apartment with a different man. She wakes back up in her own time but can't shake the dream. Fast forward 4.5 years later, and she runs into the man from the dream!

I finished Survive the Night and it was sooooo Meh and made me glad I didn't waste a BOTM credit on it.
Now I am trying to decide between A Good Marriage and When No One is Watching

Blew through Beach Read in less than a day. Some of the dad stuff dragged, but overall loved it. Right book at the right time for me.

This looks good- were you able to read it via kindle? I can’t find it on digital. hmm not sure, I actually bought that one paperback it surprisingly doesn't seem to be available by audio or digital in the US. Odd.

Just finished The Spanish Love Deception. I really enjoyed it. My only complaint was that it dragged a but at first. Otherwise it was a great rom-com similar to The Hating Game.
Next I have 2 days to read Better Than the Movies before it's due back to the library.

I began Emma’s Laugh (holliberry sister wrote it true story), I’m 92% done and it’s getting to a point I’m not ready for so I had to take a break. I don’t have words right now for how beautiful it is. More on that when I am brave enough to finish.
I finished All things Bad and Wonderful. 4/5⭐️ -careful there is a major trigger theme /very controversial topic throughout, but it is remarkably written, complex characters, but it’s not for everyone. But it’s just a book and not real people so I was able to love it for what it was.
Currently like ten percent into Addie Larue so I’ll come back with more on that too.

I enjoyed it, but I thought it would be totally different.

I’m going to start Adirondack: Life and Wildlife in the Wild, Wild East by Edward Kanze because I’m vacationing in the Adirondacks and I love a good theme. Update: Two thumbs down. This book was all over the place. The beginning felt like the ramblings of an egotistical man. The middle was good because it was all nature things. And the end was a collection of his journal entries that I wouldn’t have minded except I was already annoyed with him.

I finished the First Mortal Instruments Series and book 6 was my favorite! Really makes me want to read the rest Cassandra Clare as done in that world.

I loved (knowing it’s a book and not real) it but it’s not for everyone.

Anyone have a fav romcom or mystery or something else relatively light set in Europe or elsewhere with escapist travel to recommend? The Secret Bridesmaid!

Did I already mention the Sonali Dev Raje series? Pride, Prejudice and Other Flavors, A Recipe for Persuasion, and Incense and Sensibility. I listened to all 3 this week and last and love them. They are long but so so good. Rom coms, but heavy on the family drama too. Will absolutely make you hungry.

I finished Addie LaRue last night. I'm so glad something kept me super engaged after 3 DNFs in a row. I had some issues with it, but it was definitely compelling and kept me reading. My hold for Malibu Rising just came up, so I guess that's next. I just finished Addie LaRue and largely enjoyed it. I'm curious about your thoughts.

I enjoyed it, I just had a few things that bugged me. Let me try to spoiler. {Spoiler} I didn't feel like I actually knew Addie at the end of the book. We followed her around a lot, but I never felt like I knew anything about what was going on in her head. I read a lot of 1st person narratives, and this is a problem I have a lot with 3rd person in general, but I felt very disconnected from her as a character and who she actually was. And, honestly, why Henry would be interested in her aside from the fact that she was immune to his curse. I also felt like she didn't really change much from the beginning of the book to the end. She felt like largely the same person without much growth. Henry's portion of the book was significantly shorter, but I felt like I got to know him so much better and we saw him change from beginning to end. Maybe this is a side-effect of writing immortal characters? Or people who aren't really human? I don't know. I just wanted more out of her character.

It was a really interesting concept. I think you hit her relationship with Henry right on the nose. The only thing that seemed to draw them to one another was the deal they'd each made with Luc.

I brought this on vacation last year and was thinking it was gonna be a cute romance too 😅. I still read it quickly and enjoyed it but damn it was not at all what I expected.

I finished Better Than The Movies. It was a cute YA romcom, nothing extraordinary.
Now I'm reading Don't You Forget About Me by Mhairi McFarlane.

Just randomly got a $5 credit from Amazon to use on The Invisible Husband of Frick Island so I got it for $4.99! I'm so excited because I've really been wanting to read this one but none of my libraries have it.

It Happened One Summer was decent. I really enjoyed the first half but thought it got a bit long and had a lot of manufactured drama in the second half. I’ve made this complaint before but I’m also not a fan of sex scenes that last like 20 pages lol. But overall it was cute and I’ll definitely read the next book when it comes out.
I’m going to read The Therapist next, which is B.A. Paris’s new book.

I finished The Midnight Library.
If you read it, what did you think?
I liked the ending and the main point of the book, but it was just ok to me overall.

Has anyone read the series by Elena Ferrante? I remember my aunt really enjoyed them, but sometimes she and I don't agree. The whole series is $3.99 on Amazon. Wondering if I should use my credits to buy them. I read the first one, My Brilliant Friend maybe? And I was strongly not a fan. It read really slow and boring to me, and I like slow-moving books. It was repetitive too. And meandering. Ugh. I gave up on the series after that. I know a lot of people who have felt the opposite though. I think it’s a pretty polarizing series. I read the first one and didn’t like it at all. I couldn’t understand what all the hype is about.
