The Unhoneymooners is seeeexxxy! Do recommend. Reading thread confession: I always feel a little guilty reading sexy romances when my kids are in the same room. 🤣 Hahaha! Especially when DD is like what are you reading? What’s it about? Ummm.

Me scrambling to think of something besides the title “his captive lady”

Has anyone read the series by Elena Ferrante? I remember my aunt really enjoyed them, but sometimes she and I don't agree. The whole series is $3.99 on Amazon. Wondering if I should use my credits to buy them. I read the first one, My Brilliant Friend maybe? And I was strongly not a fan. It read really slow and boring to me, and I like slow-moving books. It was repetitive too. And meandering. Ugh. I gave up on the series after that. I know a lot of people who have felt the opposite though. I think it’s a pretty polarizing series.

I absolutely adored them all and there was a big hole in my life when I was finished. I've read a couple of other novels by her as well and loved them. I think she's a truly masterful writer.

I can't remember if I mentioned it but I read We Ride Upon Sticks last month and it was so great. Really smart and fun and different. I read this a couple months ago and also enjoyed it.

I was looking for the title of Last House on Needless Street to preorder. and for some reason thought googling “last house horror book” was going to narrow it down 😂 I should have just asked here, you guys would have known right away.
But it led me to a list of horror books coming out this year, and I ended up buying and preordering several. I just finished The Valancourt Book of World Horror Stories. I really liked a few stories, but overall I was underwhelmed. I like to be scared by my horror, but these were more “ugh, these people’s lives are going to be ruined right?” suspense most of the time. Which is a valid form of horror! But I want scary. I do like the idea, which is to find short-form horror that has never been translated into English. I’ll probably try the next anthology that comes out this year.

The Secret Bridesmaid is so cute. I’m halfway through and unless it goes totally left in the next half I’d definitely recommend for rom com readers. Royal adjacent as well of that interests you. It stayed right. Ended to fast though.

cdnfroggy Are you the one into horror novels? I just read Intercepts by T.J. Payne and it was a fun read. Only 3 1/2 stars for me because it was very predictable but still a nice gruesome horror story that I think you might enjoy.

I finally finished Just Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane. It took me awhile to get in to it but the second half really made it the worth the read. Would recommend!

I stayed up too late reading a truly terrible book. Why do I do this to myself?

I’m reading Project Hail Mary and some stupid vampire book.
I DnF The 5th Wave. It was too ridiculous.
I finished Girl with a Gun and All Creatures Great and Small and enjoyed both.

I finished Addie LaRue last night. I'm so glad something kept me super engaged after 3 DNFs in a row. I had some issues with it, but it was definitely compelling and kept me reading.
My hold for Malibu Rising just came up, so I guess that's next.

I am in a reading slump, I'm hoping a few days at the lake will help me get out of it.

I finished Project Hail Mary yesterday.
Wow. Wowww!!!
That was an amazing book that I never ever want to read again! The story was incredible. It was so so good!! But, it was a lot of science, and sometimes it was just a little harder to get through some spots because of that, and it was almost 500 pages! So that is why I could never read it again (I never read books more than once anyway, so that’s kind of a moot point) but I would 100% recommend that book to everyone! Amazing story!
I need it turned into a movie ASAP!!!

I just finished Eliza Starts a Rumor. I was disappointed. I found a lot of the storyline boring and wasn't a huge fan of a lot of the characters.
I'm reading The Spanish Love Deception next and then I think I am going to cancel my KU subscription for a while. I've not read hardly any books from it lately and I have a ton of library books to catch up on.

I finished The Perfect Find- slow in a couple of places, but overall great. I’m 3 chapters into Beach Read and like it so far, but my grandmother recently unexpectedly died and it’s been tough, and it is giving me big feelings.

I finished Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris and it was…intense. I can’t say that I really enjoyed it - it was less thriller than a tale of psychological torture and it was a lot. But I do like the author’s style and it was definitely a page-turner.
I’m going to try a new romcom, It Happened One Summer, next.
