My library hold for The Push recently came in. I’m maybe 25% through. I’m not sure I can push through….I know this has been such a polarizing book, but I’m finding it super triggering (which I knew it might be going into it). Just thought originally I could handle it. Worth pushing through if I’m finding it intensely hard? If you are finding it hard now my advice would be to not continue. I really liked this but if I had a young child there is no way I could have read it. It’s very triggery for sure. I agree with this - and it gets more upsetting. I LOVED it but there is some extremely TW material in there and I don’t think there’s any reason to keep going if it’s hard for you.

I read some great books in June! I just discovered Elizabeth Acevedo and her books are stunning. I LOVE Acevedo - she's such a lyrical writer. Check out With the Fire on High too. If you like her writing style, Jason Reynolds is a wonderful poet and author too and reminds me a lot of her.

I just finished Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica. I do not recommend. It started off interesting but then just devolved into a mess of wtf. Too many storylines, one that wasn’t even relevant…and the ending sucked. About to start The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher. Fingers crossed it’s a good one!

@icedtea I started shadow and bone last night and I'll probably finish it tonight, I am loving it!
I went ahead and requested 2 and 3 of both that series and ACOTAR for this weekend 😅. After a while with no fantasy I am loving both series a lot!

I already have the second book but I need to finish That Summer first since it’s due first.

Hi, I finally finished a book this year! It took me about 4 months to finish Recursion but not because it was bad, I just wasn’t in a reading mood. Finally finished it last week. Then read The Secret of the Chateau by Kathleen McGurl and finished it in 4 days.
Not sure what to read next but I think I’m in a historic mystery mood

The Historian by Kostova is fun. Also anything by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. i loved Dracula but not sure if I’m in the mood for gothic right now. Shadow of the Wind is one of my all time favourite books. I remember liking the second one too

I just finished listening to the bookshop on the shore, which is a follow up to the bookshop On the corner, by Jenny Colgan. It was really cute and enjoyable.

Loved Secrets of a Charmed Life, read it in a day. Really liking Malibu Rising so far- about 40% in- at least compared to Daisy Jones, which I did not like.

But I’m glad I tried MR, I almost didn’t. I really liked Evelyn Hugo, so hoped it might skew slightly more that direction.

I was visiting family in Oklahoma last weekend and found a really cute independent bookstore in Oklahoma City. Ended up buying The Invisible Husband of Frick Island because of the good reviews here, I'm excited to get to it!

I think if I had read Daisy Jones in paperback I don't think I would've liked it. The audio with different narrators was awesome though.

One True Loves and Forever, Interrupted are also really good.

I finished Pack Up the Moon. I think I liked it? I need to sit on it a little more. It was just relentlessly sad, but I knew that going in. I thought it was well-written but maybe not my best choice for light vacation reading lol.
I’m reading Hostage by Clare Mackintosh now. I’m about 25% in and enjoying it so far. It’s a thriller that takes place on an airplane.

Okay I hated The Silent Patient. I didn't see the twist coming, but when it happened I was like "mmmmm no." I also disliked all of the characters.

I finished The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires - I am perplexed by it and have no idea how to rate it on Goodreads. Like, I liked it...I think; but the gore/horror parts were SO descriptive and I felt it could have been pulled back a little. But I wanted to know what was going to happen - so it served it's purpose.
I downloaded Horrorstor by the same author - but IDK if I am ready to listen to it.
I had the same glitch happen with my library app with Evelyn Hugo that I had a month or two ago. I got the email saying it was my turn to download it, clicked the link to go to the app, and find that it is still listed as "on hold". The first time, it was because I needed to renew my account, I think. But this time it is just still listed as unavailable. I think I might just buy it.

My copy of Midnight Library came in at the library. I need to go pick it up; but I am still working through my June BOTM (Half Sick of Shadows). I skipped BOTM for July; none of them were jumping out at me

I still haven't read any of her other books yet. I have Maybe In Another Life on hold with the library.

I started Lilac Girls last night, but I just don't think I am in the right frame of mind to focus on it. I do have the Rose Code, that I bought, so I may read that so that I can give it to my mom to read when she is here in a couple weeks. She tends to like historical fiction like that.
