Hi all!
I’ve been terrible with checking in. I scrolled through what I missed and per usual, you all are inspiring and kicking ass.
Work has been intense to say the least. I have been incredibly determined to not give up working out despite the hours I’m working and so far, so good, but August is going to be worse than July.
This week has been great. So far I’ve gotten 2 rides and 2 runs in. I realized I’ve been neglecting runs (before this week, it had been 3 weeks since my last one 😬), so I’m focusing on trying to get 3 runs in a week along with my 3-rides a week PZ challenge. I also am managing 2 strength days and core 4-5 times per week.
My runs have been awful. It’s been 100+ here this week and the humidity is crazy, and that usually means breathing issues for me. The only time I’ve been able to workout is evenings, and it’s still over 90, so I’ve been ignoring pace and just making sure I don’t push too hard. But it feels good to be out there again!
Today I’m planning a fun 20 minute ride for #200, and then a 30 minute PZ endurance ride for my challenge. Tomorrow I have a 5k set up.

Happy Friday, all! I thought it would never get here.
I ended up working a 12-hour day yesterday and was wiped so I took another rest day.
Which meant doubling up cardio and strength today, which I haven't done in an age.
I did Week 5, Day 1 of You Can Run with Wilpers, which was 30 minutes of walk + run on the tread and I jogged most of the recoveries over the 30-min session. I had a meeting coming up, so I did a 5-min post-ride stretch with Alex so I could stretch and join the call. How's that for multi-tasking?
I had another meeting that was going to go a full hour and with a lot of participation, so once that was done, I knocked out my workouts for Day 2 of Week 5 of Beginner Strength:
- 10 min Warm Up with Olivia (okay, I mostly skipped this one and let it play during the last 10 minutes of my meeting) as it's the same warm up for the entire program and I'm bored with it and they always do 4 minutes of warm up for the 30 min strength session and I feel like that's plenty - 30 min Lower Body Strength with Olivia (she reminded me of why she's the ninja glitter demon we love to hate as even though I was using 5 lb dumbbells, my legs felt like they had wet sandbags in them by the time I was done with all the squats and deadlifts and lunges, including curtsy lunges) - 10 min Stretch with Matty (okay, I fast-forwarded this one, too, because again, the same for the whole program and I wanted something with more lower body focus along with checking this one off) - so I did a 10 min Lower Body Stretch with Matty (I was startled to see people then realized it was one from 2019 as I filtered to 10-min Lower Body Stretch workouts I hadn't done before)
Hope everyone has a great day!

I don't think I checked in yesterday - Ran 3 miles in the morning, and not a whole lot else.
Today, I did 20 minutes of yoga (Focus flow, hips) and then took a walk around the block. Likely another walk is in our future.

I took an inadvertent rest day again. My mom took my kids overnight and came later than expected, and I had been waiting for them to go. H and I went to dinner and had some drinks once they left, and I don't really regret it. I'll run or bike tomorrow morning before I pick them up.
My triceps are still on fire from the full body workout I did on Tuesday. I am hoping I just re-aggravated them by carrying groceries or my kids yesterday.

I did a rock ride with Hannah F and then the HCOF stack.
DS2’s COVID test came back negative, so looks like it is a regular old summer cold that is causing all the snot and coughing in our house. Yay?
The Jungle Cruise movie is fun and delightful. Lots of little treats for lovers of the ride at Disneyland, too!

Morning.
Got outside and did Andy's 30 minute advanced outdoor interval run. It was excellent and I'll do it again. Picked up 3.25 miles and all my interval times were awesome. Loved it.
Food today will suck. We're headed to the Renaissance faire then we're on our own for dinner, as in my mom isn't cooking because they're going out. No clue what we'll do, but I can pretty much guarantee it'll be unhealthy, lol.
It'll be nice to be back to my routine after the weekend.

July has sucked for workouts. The lack of routine and schedule is killing me! I have barely done anything all month. Tomorrow I have a sprint tri then I am heading to my mom’s for the week. I plan on running almost every day while I’m there.
My plans for August and back to school are set. Adding HIIT classes twice a week and yoga on Fridays, 10 mile Tuesdays, early morning swims. I am ready! Signed up for a half marathon in October and a half Iron in May.
Oh, except FIL was diagnosed with colon cancer this week and is coming to stay with us for surgery and recovery and maybe treatment if he needs it. All my plans are crushed and I feel so defeated. I am happy to care for him and truly grateful to be able to do it but The selfish part of me feels like the rug has been yanked out from under me. My kids all go to school this year, my baby is starting 1st grade. My time with little children has come and gone and I am ready to put that behind me and embrace a new phase in life, but no.
Anyway, I’ll figure everything out and it will be fine. I just have to carve out the time. Ugh, I feel like a slug right now. Who even am I?

Happy Saturday. Today I did:
- 10 minute core with Matty - 10 minute arms with Leanne - 10 minute warmup run with Becs - 20 minute HIIT with Matty
Heading to a picnic later and then leaving for NJ tomorrow to visit family so there will be lots of yummy food and booze in my future.

It’s the 5 year olds birthday party today so I am getting my heart rate up by deep cleaning everything. Otherwise it’s a rest day.
Also Adrian from Peloton posted videos on his stories of him playing with toddlers and my gosh my ovaries.

Yesterday I did a 10 minute arms and light weights and a 10 minute Glutes and Legs. Last night we went to a new restaurant downtown. Food and service were impeccable. Then we saw a Sinatra tribute show at one of the local theatres. Today was a 30 minute advanced beginner ride with Sam Yo and two 5 minute yoga beginner classes. I fell over doing the low lunge, not my finest moment.

I love Saturday workouts because I can take my time and not feel guilty! Today was:
30 minute intervals and arms with Ally (all the cycling blocks were endurance) 10 minute core with Matty 20 minute arms and shoulders with Andy 15 minute calm full body stretch with Selena
My legs are so sore from yesterday's HCOF stack! That combo of barre plus Chase's love of squats, yikes!

I got in a two mile run this morning despite being a bit dehydrated and full of breakfast. I was slow but it felt pretty good. We sat in a car most of the day after so my hip is sore right now and I need to stretch.

Most of my workouts were rough this week. PMS and heat and cutting and volume combined are trying to kill me. But my bench went well today. Finally.

20 min EDM trap run with Adrian 30 min classical music run with Becs 20 min new tracks run with Matty
Fun stack today! Got through 7.5 easy miles. I was skeptical of the classical music run but oh man, it was so great. I'll definitely do that one again.
