I did Tunde and Chelsea's Speak Up pair tonight, a 30 minute ride and 30 minute slow flow. It was so great. Really powerful in very different ways.

Hey y’all. I took the last four days off to rest, stretch, foam roll, and ice my shins. I feel almost back at 100% so I’ll probably go for a run tomorrow. I don’t have anywhere to do a fit test for shoes within an hour of me so I did some research and did the wet foot test to check what was recommended. If I feel like embarrassing myself in front of my neighbors some more, I might have DH record me running so I can check my gait. But for now I’m going to stick with the shoes I already have. I looked to see what they were and they are New Balance 880s which it turns out are actually pretty highly reviewed neutral running shoes 🤦♀️😂 I’m going to keep an eye on how my shins are doing and I might try to find a trail to try out to avoid road running if I can. I don’t know if I’ll be able to catch up on all the pages I missed but I hope everyone is having an awesome week! How often are you running right now? I'm doing the Run with Hal app and I really appreciate the slow step-up in miles and rest days. I've been training about a month now and so far I feel good. Hope your shins feel better soon! I'm in love with my ASICS. I used to get sore soles with my Nikes and these are awesome. www.amazon.com/dp/B082PZK43M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_EP4DjmAq7ekKG

I’m still just doing intervals of 90 seconds running with 1 minute of walking. Part of why I chose this was because it was supposed to be even gentler than C25K and I wanted to avoid shin splints lol. At this point I’m kind of chalking it up to my body being predisposed to getting them. I’ve been dealing with shin splints on and off for as long as I’ve been running. I do love ASICS though! They used to be my go-to. But this was all pre-kid and their line is so different now that I wouldn’t know what to choose without help.

20 min pop ride with Robin 5 min cool down with Robin 5 min lower body stretch with Selena
I am pretty sure this was my first Robin ride though I’ve taken some other classes with her. I didn’t realize she did cycling classes but I think it must be the timing of getting the bike with her maternity leave.

I've always gotten shin splints on and off my whole running life of 21+ years. I have found that the right shoes definitely can keep them at bay. Asics actually give me shin splints, unfortunately. Right now I'm running in Mizuno Wave Riders and they've been very kind to my shins this far.

Morning.
20 minute interval run with Robin 10 minute post run stretch with Robin
I walked everything but the intervals, which I kept at super slow, gentle paces. The first couple my legs were very creaky, but they felt better by the end.
I did a 20 minute postnatal yoga and a 10 minute lower body yoga last night. I'm planning to do another couple today during nap time. I'm very sore and stiff after sleeping, even though I felt fine when I went to bed. Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow.
I'm starving today despite eating a lot a junk yesterday. Today will be pretty awful too, but it's whatever.

i choose sleep again today. I am trying to be ok with choosing more sleep because the body needs the rest. I typically only get 5-6 hours so I am trying to increase to as close to 8 as possible. Hoping this helps in the long run.
I will try to get in a 30 min lunch walk.

Dragged myself up with the sunrise for a 30 minute hip hop run with Selena this morning because H had to leave for work at 6:30. It was worth it afterwards as usual and I’m feeling good now although the run was hard because I haven’t been training regularly for the last month.
Heading to the zoo today so lots of more steps in my future.

30 minute power zone endurance ride with Matt W. Pretty much all zone 2 today. B:eggs, chicken bacon and toast L: chicken burger and salad D: chicken legs and Sunflower crisp salad kit filingjointly I bought padded shorts from Amazon because after the second day I couldn't get back on the bike, it hurt alot. I still wear them for most rides except for the boot camp I did last week. I might try a 20 minute without but it's nice to know I have them if I need them.

There's a spot in the fold between my hip and my upper thigh/groin area that hurts when I walk. It feels like when you need to crack your back. So I just did a 10 minute hip focus yoga and a 20 minute lower body focus yoga it feels so much better. I heard some pops in the first few minutes and got almost instant relief. So excited for a rest day tomorrow, though now H might now come until tomorrow so I won't have anything to do all morning. It'll be hard to keep my brain from wanting to workout.

Today I was meeting free!
30 min Pop ride w/Cody 30 min 90s Rock ride w/Emma 5 min cool down w/Ally

I'm done with July and hit a new record. 48 min cardio this am (stair stepper, rower, and bike + abs) Most calories burned in a month. Will be hard to beat but I've now set a new attainable goal going forward.
B- sprouted toast with an egg, brie, tomatoes, and microgreen. So delicious. + a kiwi L- finished my quinoa dill salad and I'll make that again! D- bruschetta with burrata and spinach. Last "fun" meal before both kids are home from camp. Maybe a glass of wine.

20 minute walk + run with Matty plus a 5 minute core with Matty this morning. We are in a heat advisory and I donated blood this afternoon, so that will be it for the day besides some stretching tonight.

Hello! I didn’t get an early workout in today so I decided to run around our carport area while the kids played outside and got in two miles. It felt good and I got it so I’m happy about it!

I was short on time today, but I got in a 20 minute HIIT run and a 15 minute barre. My butt is on fire. PT tomorrow, and I want to get in 10k. I have to get in 12 miles this weekend.

I ran 2 miles today. I had been planning on 3, but my heel had been hurting this morning and I started to get a stinging pain in my ankle/shin around 1.5 miles. I walked a bit and it felt better so I tacked on another .5, but I didn't want to push it any further. I have had small bursts of pain since when I move my ankle, but nothing too bad or that is affecting my gait.
I'm strongly considering passing on the half in October. I just feel like I'm not as gung ho as I was in the spring about training and my body has been struggling a lot lately with the heat and with pain and minor injuries. I'm just so torn.

I think you should listen to your body. When in October is it? If it's mid-late month, you don't really need to get your long runs past 6/7 until the beginning of September, which could help with the heat. Maybe try really resting, with just a focus on icing, stretching and non-injury exacerbating activity for a week or so, and then see where you're at. Also, I don't know if you are taping your ankle, or using a brace/ sleeve to help stabilize it, but that could help too.

I just feel like my body hasn't really recovered since the half in June, I can't seem to get my groove back with my running. It's supposed to be mid 70s for the next week though, so I think I'll get a chance to see if it's just the heat or if it's something more. I will stabilize it for work tomorrow, I've been mostly resting this afternoon.

I will stabilize it for work tomorrow, I've been mostly resting this afternoon. I know it sucks, but maybe just aim for 2-3 miles of running 2-3 times a week for a few weeks and do a bunch of spinning to keep up your endurance. I feel like a change up for a few weeks might shift the work from your major muscles used for running a bit and help with recovery. Also, the lower impact of dropping back on running and picking up more spinning should help you recover a bit more without just stopping workouts all together and regressing on endurance. Then in 2-3 weeks reassess your running and decide on your half then. There is definitely no shame in pulling back if your body isn't ready for another one yet.

Good morning.
I'm taking a complete rest day today. Other than some walking or maybe a short and easy yoga I'm not doing anything. I haven't taken a rest day in a while and my legs are feeling a lot better, but my quads could use a day.
Food 🤷🏻♀️

I got up early to go to CF this morning and realized I must have tweaked something in my upper back yesterday because my right trap has a sharp pain that's going both down my back and up into my neck. I figured I could push through it (stupid) and got all ready to go since I knew I wouldn't be able to fall back to sleep, but at the last minute pulled my workout clothes back off and got back into bed. Looking back now I shouldn't have even been considering going, but at 5:30 in the morning my mind was still fuzzy. I actually was able to fall back to sleep and got another 1.5 hours of sleep, so not all was lost.
I may try to take a walk with the dog or do some easy yoga today. I'm feeling my anxiety creeping back in with the whole Delta thing and I need to do something to help relieve that. I remember this feeling from last March, like my whole body is vibrating at a higher frequency, and it.....wasn't good. It doesn't help that our area is pretty much free of all masks (I've only seen a handful out in public in the last couple of months) and isn't an area that will take being forced back into masks without a fight. I'm scared.

I have come around to Peloton, although I’m not nearly as hardcore as many people. May I recommend cute Ben Alldis and his adorable English accent. “FanTAStic work, crew!” Plus he doesn’t sing along to the songs. (As far as I’ve seen.) I know some people enjoy that, but it’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. I really recommend the app for cross-training. There are so many great classes. I have been doing lots of Ben’s short core and body weight strength classes. Denis’s yoga classes.

If you want a ride that probably won't kill you, but will definitely make you laugh, he's your guy. Enjoy!

Hey y’all! Happy Friday.
It’s been a crazy week but I’ve gotten a few rides in. 30 minute Debbie Gibson ride yesterday (fun) Country Happy Hour with Hannah from 7/23 (loved!)
No strength training but I’m happy to just get the cardio squeezed in. Looking forward to a more normal schedule next week.
Have a good weekend!
