I need to do this, too. My doctor’s office sent me a letter last year saying “heyyyyy, you don’t HAVE to do this until you’re 50, but don’t you want to do it now, since you’re 40?” And I said nope! But probably I should. Especially since things have calmed down. Get the mammogram. Don’t wait until you’re 50. I can’t believe a medical professional said that. Breast cancer kills and there’s no reason not to get them checked out. Mammograms really aren’t that bad. Breast cancer diagnosis are down an incredible amount this past year, not because it’s magically disappeared, but because people aren’t getting their mammograms and therefore many have it and it’s advancing undetected This is one of my hills. As someone whose mom was originally diagnosed at 39, I completely agree with you. I can't believe 50 would be recommended to anyone. That seems way too late for so many cases.

At my last appt in fall 2019 (I think?) my PCP didn't recommend mammogram yet, even with my family history, and because my mom didn't test positive for the BRCA genes. But I was only 33 at the time. He said at 35 he would recommend it. So now that I am 35, I will be asking for it as soon as I am done nursing.

I was born there! My parents grew up there, and met in college there. We moved when I was 3. My grandma was there until she passed away a few years ago, and I still have some extended family there. I haven't been back since my grandma's funeral, though.

A friend invited me for a walk so we spent almost an hour walking and went 2.5 miles. My furthest time and distance in a couple months. We talked and she let me vent for a long time. We work together but this was our first meet up outside of work and I’m so grateful for her today.
I need to do some more stretching. I think the hamstring stretches helped the most earlier this week (which are one of my least favorite).

Cody's live DJ ride tonight was as hilarious as I was hoping it would be. He and John Michael could not hold it together. Super cute and fun. And a hard ride, right lunarscallion? I was dead by the end. Struggled through the rest of the HCOF stack, I am really beat. Not looking forward to an 8am lacrosse game on my Saturday morning.

30 min live DJ ride with Cody 5 min cool down with Leanne 5 min lower body stretch with Ben CurlieWhirlie That was definitely hard- the higher cadence sections out of the saddle especially! I got 1 point away from my PR but my perceived effort was so much more today than that ride. It flew by though. I like the format with two people in the studio so it’s not just one person talking to themselves.

I haven't worked out in a week and my H is eyeing the expensive bike I used regularly until last week, haha, worried it's going to become an expensive clothes rack. I have had a weird anxiety block about taking the time at night to work out fully, which I guess I have to unpack and shit. Those of you who do peloton yoga AND weights, how often do you intersperse the two? I am definitely overthinking this. I don't ride as long as most people here, at least it seems that way, especially while training for the half marathon. I run 3 days a week and then I will ride for 10-15 minutes on 3 non-running days, followed by a strength workout or two. No matter what I do for exercise, though, it always sounds like SO MUCH until I get into it, and then the time passes fairly quickly and I'm always glad I did it. Maybe tell yourself you'll ride for 10 minutes? Then you can work yourself up from there.

I am feeling really hungover after dose #2 yesterday, so taking it easy, which, in mom life means still going to Costco, but driving instead of biking to take the kid to school, and not working my full day today to spend some time resting. I will probably go for a long, slow, walk after my costco run and do some restorative yoga. Other than that, it's fluids and rest for me! I was feeling really good that I finally got my shit together to call and schedule with a PCP - the first new patient appointment for either of the doctors recommended to me is in April 2022. I scheduled, and put my name on the cancellation list. At least I was able to get in to see my derm soon-ish. I need to do skin cancer screening, have some skin tags looked at, and find out about laser hair removal. I need to call the derm for a skin check too. It's been way too long since I've been in and I have several I need to have checked.

If you have a family history you can get tested for the gene (brca1 and brca2) that puts you most at risk. Not the same as an annual thing, but the best there is right now. no family history but lost my good friend. she was diagnosed at 27 and gone by 35.
i get worked up about it as there is no smoking gun for ovarian cancer and it's usually caught too late.
and frankly i think in today's day and age, we should have a pre-screen available to all women for it. signs of ovarian cancer are often confused with menstrual symptoms. cramps, weight gain/loss, bloating, etc.
Agreed. I’m so sorry about the loss of your friend. Docs definitely need to find out a good screening procedure.

Rest day today. I felt a bit better than I have been this week, so hoping that bodes well for my long run tomorrow.
Food was a bit over macros today, but nothing crazy.

Add me to the started mammograms early list. Started at 25 due to family history.
Yesterday I did a 15 minute full body strength with Jess Simms and then a 10 minute full body stretch with Olivia.
Today I have a 5 minute pre ride warm up and two 10 minute Matt W low impact rides.
We're doing a Sake tasting event this afternoon. Various sake with food pairings.

Morning.
45 minute treadmill bootcamp with Adrian 30 minute WHM yoga flow with Kristin
Longer workout was good. My kids only asked a couple things of me during the last few minutes of yoga that really didn't take me out of it. I picked up 5k of running in the bootcamp. I just love Adrian! And that was a hard yoga class. The sun salutations were fast and then there were some more advanced level poses, but I gave everything my best shot. I'll definitely do that one again. It was a hard workout and great stretch.
The baby is sharing my eggs right now off my avocado toast. I'm going to shake myself up a protein shake to make sure I'm plenty full before we go on the hunt for baby gates that fit our new house today. I've got a chicken salad qued up for lunch. Dinner is a question mark.

Got up and got in my long run of 8.5 miles this morning. It started strong, but I was struggling by the end, though that is probably because I pushed pretty hard the last two miles. My pace was 3 seconds faster per mile than last week though, so it couldn’t have been as rough as it felt. The hardest part was these enormous geese that were right in one section of my circuit, I was certain they were waiting to attack (they were staring RIGHT at me) so I had to go out of my way to go around them every time I passed. That messed up my rhythm and tired me out quicker.
Anyway, treated myself to a bagel and iced coffee. Lunch will be a delicious salad that I’m already thinking about. I have thin sliced chicken breasts to use for dinner, I might make Marsala.

Good morning! I went out for my run around the gymnastics parking lot while DD was at gymnastics. My knee felt tight and I didn’t want to aggravate anything so I just did a mile then walked for half an hour. It was nice to be outside!

Longish run this morning, 6 miles. Hip is feeling lots better, my final two miles were actually near my pre-injury speed! My PT suggested stopping to do a few seconds of backbends when my hip starts hurting while running and it’s weirdly effective. Apparently his theory that it’s mostly nerve pain due to lower back issues is accurate?
10 minute warm up run with Becs 30 minute EDM run with Matty 30 minute EDM run with Olivia 5 minute post run stretch with Becs
I attempted my final day of Week 3 Crush your Core but quit after a minute. I think I’m going to repeat week 3 before moving forward with the program, I didn’t feel super confident with this weeks’ workouts.

Bench days for me. Moved into my competition shirt (it's tighter than the one I have been using). Only down to a 3 board to work on control. Worked up to 363 for a stupid easy set of 2.

One of my canceled races is back on the books for July 18th so back at the training! I'm so excited.
I had an awful migraine that kept me up for most of the night and then made me sick all morning so today will probably be a rest day unless I feel significantly better in a few hours.

30 minute walk run with Matt, my first one in months. I was jogging slower than I can walk, but I don't care because I was jogging! Started with a stretch before and did another one after. Fingers crossed I feel as good tonight as I did during the workout.

Evening all!
I was thisclose to skipping out on my workout but knew I would feel better doing something.
I did Ben’s 20 min Full Body Strength (4/12) and with the 6 min EMOM that included burpees every other minute, he packed a lot into those 20 minutes. I had to laugh because he even said what I preach all the time about how 20 minutes can be all the workout you need. I added on a 5 min Core with Ben as well and finished with a 5 min Full Body Stretch with Chase. I’m a sweaty, breathy mess but so glad I got it in.

My food has been pretty crappy this week with multiple DQ trips (and another one about to happen) because I’m eating my feelings after my grandpa was put in hospice on Thursday. I visited him today and he wasn’t awake but it was really hard to just talk cheerily and hope he heard me because it was wrecking me to see him like that.
But thankfully my brain isn’t beating me up over the crappy food. Just letting it happen.
