If anything mammograms should probably start earlier in life not later. I'm super happy to see people making their appointments!! Also in case anyone is unaware apparently colonoscopies are recommended earlier now, too. My doctor told me at my last yearly appointment that they start at 45 now instead of 50. So I'm not quite there yet but close. Ugh. When I first started on a version of these boards it was all about wedding dresses and first houses. Now we have progressed to this. Not sure I want to know what is next, lol!! Yes, I am working on getting a colonoscopy scheduled for sometime this year. I have now known two women diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in their early-mid thirties and one died after only 2.5 years. It's crazy that they haven't updated those recommendations yet.

I haven't worked out in a week and my H is eyeing the expensive bike I used regularly until last week, haha, worried it's going to become an expensive clothes rack. I have had a weird anxiety block about taking the time at night to work out fully, which I guess I have to unpack and shit.
Those of you who do peloton yoga AND weights, how often do you intersperse the two? I am definitely overthinking this.

I’m having some struggles lately because my DD is coming up on the age I was when she passed (DD is 10; I was 13) and it’s giving me feels about what it was like navigating lots of life things solo at that age and also seeing what my mom missed out on. I didn't have time to pack my lunch today - i'm trying to think of where i can get something that is fairly ok, i might have to make a longer drive to Wholefoods, there are no good/healthy options here there are healthy options you just don't think of it when you think of places like mcdonalds.
mcdonalds - big mac no bun (or any burger) / side salad with dressing - cut up burger and top salad.
grilled chicken salad.
chick-fil-a - any grilled chicken sandwich original chicken sandwich isn't that bad either if you count macros. you can do with no bun as well.
taco bell - they have a power up menu - or even like a burrito isn't bad
subway - you can have your sub as a salad now - double the protein.
any grocery store deli or go to the store and buy salad ingredients or sandwich ingredients.
chipolte - you can double your protein on any meal they have healthy lifestyle bowls now, they are damn good too
You can search on pinterest for macro friendly options for fast food. I did this once and it showed me a new way to order when I am at fast food joints with kids.

Now, if science and doctors could only come up with a pre-screen for ovarian cancer.....
If you have a family history you can get tested for the gene (brca1 and brca2) that puts you most at risk. Not the same as an annual thing, but the best there is right now. no family history but lost my good friend. she was diagnosed at 27 and gone by 35.
i get worked up about it as there is no smoking gun for ovarian cancer and it's usually caught too late.
and frankly i think in today's day and age, we should have a pre-screen available to all women for it. signs of ovarian cancer are often confused with menstrual symptoms. cramps, weight gain/loss, bloating, etc.

Since I've started doing the HCOF calendar my workouts have been lasting 1-1.5 hours, and sometimes I do feel guilty about taking that time. I do yoga usually two or three days a week. There's an active recovery day built into the HCOF calendar that is just yoga and core work, no weights, and then I like to do longer yoga flows on the weekends before I do my workout, or separately from the rest of my workout. But that's when I have the time.

I try to aim for 3-4 of each per week as a rolling seven day average.

I just did this a couple weeks ago with my OB. I did the test through Empower. It tested 40 genetic mutations including the BRCA ones. I was very relieved that my results were negative.

I am feeling really hungover after dose #2 yesterday, so taking it easy, which, in mom life means still going to Costco, but driving instead of biking to take the kid to school, and not working my full day today to spend some time resting. I will probably go for a long, slow, walk after my costco run and do some restorative yoga. Other than that, it's fluids and rest for me!
I was feeling really good that I finally got my shit together to call and schedule with a PCP - the first new patient appointment for either of the doctors recommended to me is in April 2022. I scheduled, and put my name on the cancellation list. At least I was able to get in to see my derm soon-ish. I need to do skin cancer screening, have some skin tags looked at, and find out about laser hair removal.

true - but i am also a vegetarian so some of these are limited. I ended up going to wholefoods as they have a salad bar - it was just kind of a pain in the neck. I wish we had a chipotle nearby though, that sounds good right now.

TGIF, all!
I got my workout in over lunch. A true spring day and not the whackadoodle snow and cold we've had the previous few days.
- Couch to 10K, W2/D2 (2.1 in 31 minutes) - Selena's 10 min Core from 4/21 (I nixed using a dumbbell for the side plank because I would have wasted too much time putting the dumbbell between my legs) - also, her "I'm watching the clock" is starting to annoy me as much as her "neutch" usage - still a good workout though - Lilly Sabri's 11 min Booty Band (it was Day 5 of a 5-day Challenge) and she decided the band wasn't torture enough and added in cardio segments (including these evil pop squats that we got to do 2x as she did 2 sets of everything) - especially on my somewhat tired legs - Matty's 5 min Lower Body Stretch - lots of Lizard and Pigeon, two of my faves

cnf It is ok to complain about everything that is going on. We have all had our various struggles and sometimes it helps to know we are not all alone in what is going on. You've had a lot of stuff happen, both with being pregnant, giving birth, the trauma from your DD that is ongoing, etc. I completely empathize because I have on an off been reaching 'breaking' points as well. I hope at least the encouraging and empathizing words here can help you know that it's ok to not be ok.

I can't remember if I mentioned here or just posted on FB that I decided to bag my virtual half tomorrow. I'm just not prepared to do it outside, how badly running outside has hurt this week with lesser mileage has proven that to me. So I will have a shirt and a medal that sits in a bag. LOL not my first one to do that.

Today was active recovery for me and thank goodness because man I am FEELING it in my arms and back from last night at the gym. So good to have that feeling again, knowing how hard I worked with my trainer. 20 min recovery ride with Christine 20 min BHM recovery ride with Sam I'll get some good stretching in as well. Also, another NSV. Yesterday I had a laser hair removal session and I've been going roughly every 5-6 weeks for about 10 months now and see the same woman. Yesterday she was like "Have you lost some weight recently?" I replied that I had been working out a lot and mindful eating and so I have continued to get slimmer. She said "I thought so, because when you stood up to approach me, I thought, damn she looks good!" So that was a nice confidence booster.

The length of the workouts was one of the reason I went to doing my own HCOF calendar because 60 minutes is my usual max for working out (not counting walks with MH) and more often than not, it would be 90 minutes start to finish and that's just too much most days for me. I also noticed that towards the end of what I sometimes found to be a duplicative/overkill 2nd strength class, I would start to get really fatigued and sloppy. Trust, this is not a knock on HCOF and I appreciate those who shared the Feb calendar for me as that inspired me to do more than just a strength day or a cardio day and mix it up and get more strength training in as well as active recovery with yoga, etc. It also gave me the structure that I crave. All of this to say - and I've said this before - even 20 minutes can be enough if you are really pushing it and by pushing it, I'm not gonna use the "GDL" lingo LOL but elevated heart rate, breathing, and a bit of sweat.

I got some chicken ravioli and a bag of salad, so, yes! We usually get the street tacos, but I think everyone is a bit burnt out on them. Thankfully, I expected that we'd be out of it yesterday and today, and planned on leftovers and mac and cheese from the box. We'll make it!

Hi.
My day has been decent.
I did grab a bag of kettle chips from the vending machine even though I said I wouldn't. But I had a chicken salad for dinner and just had a greek yogurt. I'm still hungry somehow so I'll have something else tonight, but I'm not sure what yet.
15 minute pop ride with Jess King
I meant to do more, but I got a super late start, then my kids all imploded simultaneously, then H came home, so that's it. Better luck tomorrow and better than nothing.
