I think I'm going to go back to my old eating times. I don't dig adding the snack during the day enough and it usually means losing my night treat. What was different about it that didn’t work? How goes the search for a treatment program? It feels like you’re adding more and more stuff (or taking away in the case of food) and it’s all just causing so much stress. I’m going to keep saying this in the hopes that one day you’ll believe me: it doesn’t have to be like this, Rusty. There’s so much more to life than a number on the scale. I just don't like the smaller deficit from adding in snacks. I thought I was ready to up my calories to maintenance but I'm not there yet. I have made some small adjustments. I know where I will go when I decide to start therapy, I'm just not pursuing it yet.

Back in the saddle today. My hip/IT band have been super stiff for months, and regular yoga is basically the only thing that helps. I have to be good about getting the kids to bed by 9 and then having 9-10 be workout and shower time for mom. In other news, my kids had their physicals last night and the doc was like, yeah, the pandemic's been really hard on all of us, but now they're off the charts in terms of weight (or almost) and you need to address it. Whee. I guess this means I have to get serious about myself, right? Lol. I might start using meal kits again to make sure there is something healthy for dinner that my older kid can even help cook. How old are your kids? What did the dr suggest doing? Did he talk about it in front of them? 9 and 5 and she did. My eldest (who tends towards the dramatic) got super woe is me and "The doctor is making me go ON A DIET" and I'm like, no, that's not what she said, drama llama. Dr talked about more activity, portion control, and keeping snacky snacks out of the house (not all snacks, but you know).

I'm feeling out of my routine for workouts. I think I need to join a new gym sooner rather than later so I can have more flexibility on timing. Its been hard to work them in once my office reopened and I couldn't go lift in the middle of the day at lunch.
Today is a rest day but not because I want it to be. Hmph. B: yogurt with protein powder, muesli, berries and almonds S: protein shake L: salad with grilled chicken D: wine, burger, roasted potatoes, broccoli

cnf, does your H work nights? Because if he doesn't than he needs to start getting up as well - oh wait are you breast feeding? Because again, if you are using bottles, dude can feed the baby as well. You should not be taking it all on. You work during the day just like him. I think you need to tap out for a night and let him handle. He's parenting and WFH on call a day while I'm at work, then he goes into work for the night as soon as I get home in the afternoon. So we're both taking a hit. Yes, I'm breastfeeding. He's pretty good about dealing with girls at night if they wake up, but I tend to be the lighter sleeper and usually hear them first. Or if they come in our room they default to waking me, not him. He does get up with them on weekends and let's me try to sleep in. His current work schedule is temporary because pandemic. Come July he'll go back to working normal 9-5 days again.

cnf I'm sorry you are struggling. Your post reminded me that my manager just had twins a few months ago and because it's two, there really is no relief in his house right now. One day at work he said to me "wait....so you parents really haven't slept in like, years? And you are still working like normal people?" I was like LOL basically, yes. You need a break, girl. Something's got to give.

Morning. I did a 10 minute warm up run with Selena and a 30 minute boot camp with Matty, for a total of 3 miles. I’m pretty proud of myself - I sprinted for the first time at 8.5. I’ve been slowly working my way up from my usual 7.5 sprint speed and I’m still tentative because sprints used to trigger my heart issue but I did it today and that’s a win!

I would be outaged if my child left a well check thinking their doctor was putting them on a diet. But jorkzy has science and stuff about this, I’m sure. I'm not necessarily worried that paying more attention to what she's eating will make her obsess over food, since she thinks about food all the time anyway! She likes to cook, so I signed back up for Gobble and she and her babysitter or me can prepare those meals together. Not as ideal as buying whole ingredients not already prepped, but my energy is FINITE and we all do what we can! I also reached out to the peds office for a dietician referral.

Last night was my first night back at the gym with my trainer. It was so nice to see him again! Apparently all but one other trainer left that gym so he got all their clients too and so he's busy, so that makes me happy for him after a tough 2020. We did chest and shoulders but it ended up being mostly shoulders and core, lol. My shoulders are going to feel it later I am sure.

No, weight isn't everything, of course. But this past year, we've all gained so, so much weight (it's visible on my kids and CERTAINLY on me, haha). The activity piece is big, and we have no yard to kick them out to when I want them to run around, so anytime we go out, it has to be a conscious choice. And that takes so much energy from me that I feel has been in short supply this entire year, and I am certainly less mobile now with fifty extra lbs (on top of the thirty five I already had). But, hopefully a better diet on my end will give me more of that energy. Solidarity! Our situation is similar — no yard, each trip out requires thought and planning. It's tough, I hear you. We can do it! We have a patio, not a yard, and it's actually one of my wins of the pandemic that my kids know that in the afternoon (when we're all done with school/work/whatever) we go outside as a family. Sometimes it's literally a walk around the block, and sometimes it's much longer, or a bike ride, or kicking a soccer ball around. It's something that I hope sticks on the days when we don't have activities, moving forward, but it's really hard to get going! I hope you guys (and your kids) can find joy in it!

Hello! I had a rough weekend at work followed by two lackluster workouts and a shit ton of homework. 3.5 more weeks of the semester and I can’t wait. I’ve been so sedentary during school it kind of bums me out. I also think I’ve developed some SPD problems, it’s not overly painful but my pelvis just feels... floppy. I see my OB in 2 weeks so I am hoping I can get a PT referral so I can stay active.

Hey all. I’ve recently started browsing again here and there. Been super busy with work and life and trying to cut down on social media use.
I’m still at it with my workouts. I started a new weightlifting lifting program somewhere around October after coming off a hybrid CF/weightlifting program and am seeing some real gains that I’m excited about because my goal of looking buff is coming true. My arms and shoulders are poppin’ and my legs are looking pretty nice. My stomach...well...kids...so that will always be an area that needs surgical assistance but I’m OK with it.
I lost 10lbs from Dec - Feb and feel much more like myself now. I am in maintenance but not using the scale and going by how I feel and my clothes to guide me.

Like swellist said, there’s a whole ton of data that putting kids on diets (or kids feeling like they’re being put on diets) can impact their relationship with food and their body. Even words like portion control and healthy snacks can contribute. So I like to think what can we add to your day, rather than what needs to be taken away or restricted. There’s a place for fun foods, just like there’s a place for fruits and veg too. There’s a place for movement she enjoys just like there’s a place for rest when her body’s asking for it. Any kind of focus on foods being good/bad and her weight or body being wrong or in need of fixing is not ideal. (Not saying you do this, just speaking in general). What did you mean by she’s already obsessed with food?

Walked the girls to school again today - I'm really enjoying it and it sets a good tone for the day. Tonight my mom comes to hang with them so I'll get in a trail run with the dog.
AM Snack: Dried coconut B: Yogurt w granola L: Big salad D: Not sure yet - either a salad or baked potato

I got a workout in over lunch and feel so good about getting it in.
I knocked out:
- W2/D1 of Couch to 10K (2.04 miles - the first half of the 31 minutes was a nice incline with the last 5-6 minutes before the turnaround a decidedly steep incline but that made for a nice downhill to flat 2nd half.) - 5 min Core with Chase - 11 min Lilly Sabri Booty Band (my ass was feeling fine until we got to the clamshells with a kick-out part...my lord...my ass was screaming, "What did I ever do to you, bitch?"). But I think, for the most part, between resuming running and these classes, my glutes are definitely much stronger than they were a year ago.
I stretched on my own for about 4 minutes (not enough, I know, but I do get a walking cooldown as part of the Couch to 10k session) as I had to jump on a conference call.
Speaking of a year ago, I just realized that I've achieved a 52 week streak with the Peloton app. I am so, so glad I downloaded the app and even more grateful to find the welcoming, inspiring folks on this thread. It's been...a year but all of you have made me feel a little less alone.

I am back to tracking all food - i finally put new batteries in my scale on Saturday and it lit a fire under me. I am trying to lose 6 lbs by the beginning of June for now.
Biking tonight and meal prepping for the rest of the week, we got home from my mom's too late last night to do anything.

My first 30 minute ride today. It was the 30 minute advanced beginner ride with Hannah from the mastering the basics program. It ended up being more like 28 minutes as I had to jump off the bike and run upstairs and close the doggie door because my lawn guy showed up early.
Thanks all who commented yesterday about my struggle on my 10th ride. I know eventually I'll get better at it and if in the meantime I modify but challenge myself I'll end up ok.
Does anyone know if there's a Taylor Swift ride? I tried to find one but didn't see it under the artist series.

Does anyone know if there's a Taylor Swift ride? I tried to find one but didn't see it under the artist series. There isn't a T Swift ride that I am aware of. Cody is not a fan. I have never heard any of her music in any class, let alone an artist series, so it may be that she won't give her permission to Peloton to use her songs.

I don't know if this is your issue at all, but I needed ALL the seat padding when I started, because the discomfort of the saddle made everything worse. I ordered a padded seat cover (easy to find on Amazon) and those padded shorts. Now, I'm okay with just the seat cover, and I am someone who doesn't stand on the bike except to give my butt a break.

She won't eat a bunch of lunch if she doesn't love it, which is good, since you shouldn't eat what you don't like! But then wants snacks (and often processed snacky snacks, which have their place, of course, but it's becoming her go-to). It's funny, both my kids are off the charts, but she is the one for whom I was super conscious of food as a baby and toddler (no snacky snacks in the house, just fruit, yogurt, cheese for snacks, yada yada). She's not picky necessarily (she tries a lot as my H is a major foodie), but wants to eat a little of a ton of stuff often, which logistically isn't always possible.

Hey y’all!
First workout in awhile. I’ve been dealing with a really tight lower back and biking aggravates it so I took a break. Then DD got sick so I took a longer break! I made some adjustments today so hopefully that will help. I’m also going to get commit to lots of stretching and core work.
30 minute 80s ride with Sam 10 minute arms with Sam 20 minutes of core, legs, and stretching on my own
