Started and finished Letters to the Lost today and I absolutely loved it. Such a touching and meaningful story and so much more than I expected.

I just noticed that I hit my 2021 year goal on goodreads of 52 books. I may need to update my goal ๐

I finished the newest Grishaverse, Rule of Wolves. Nothing ever compares to Six of Crows for me in this series but I enjoyed it! Felt a bit longer than necessary and some parts of the ending were way too convenient, but I still gave it 4/5 stars.

I just finished The Lost Village : Supposed to be a creepy horror book about a village in Sweden where everyone disappeared 60 years ago and now a small group of people are back to try and film a documentary. I didn't enjoy it. I didn't find it scary. It switches between the past and the present and I didn't like either storyline. The writing was fine though.
I'm switching between about 4 books right now that haven't really caught my attention and now I'm trying to just finish them all and move on.

The strap on my free library tote bag broke the other day - my dog had been chewing on it. If you use something fun specifically for your library bag, please share it with me! Iโm sure I have some random tote bags throughout my house, but thatโs not as fun as buying something new ๐ Also, I sometimes come back with 20 books at a time when Iโm picking up things that came in for myself and both kids, so I definitely need it to be sturdy. I love all the Out of Print ones. I have โWhen in doubt, go to the library.โ outofprint.com/collections/totes

My mom is super crafty and made me a tote that looks like this. (This one is from Out of Print.)

I am about half way through Hello, Summer. It is not high level writing, but it has a suspicious death, family drama, romance, and the beach what could be better. I may read some more from this author now.

I just finished Think Again by Adam Grant. I had been 3/4 of the way through for weeks and finally finished today. I really enjoyed it. It's a non-fiction all about rethinking our beliefs and being willing to unlearn. I would definitely recommend it.

Finished The Lost Apothecary - as others have said, I was disappointed. It had such a huge amount of potential. It wasn't even that bad; but I was just annoyed that it didn't go very far. There were also weird details that were put in that were unnecessary; where the author was trying to paint a picture...I think.
I started A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab on audiobook this morning. I hope it is good and gets me out of my three-star slump.
I'm about 75% through Spellbreaker by Charlie N. Holmberg and I really like the world he created. I took a big break about 30% in and have forgotten some of the details from the start of the book.

I just finished Piranesi by Susanna Clarke and absolutely loved it and loved the narrator. And I love when authors take a million years to crank out a book because the book usually turns out to be worth it.

I finished A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow and it was cute. I agree it dragged a bit in the middle but I really enjoyed all of the food imagery and the story was cute. The Paris Library and One By One are up next on audio.
Midnight Library up next in paperback!

I barely got through the Beach Club by Elin Hilderbrand. It was just... not my fave.
I started Winter Garden.

I just finished the Rose Code. I enjoyed it but it took me longer to get into than the Huntress and Alice Network. I read all the Bridgeton books lately. I can read them quickly and they are enjoyable escapes.

Finished The Push (by Ashley Audrain) yesterday - that ending! Now I finally know what people meant when I would simply read โthat endingโ before I had read the book.
About 1/4 into No Exit by Taylor Adams, which has been on my list for awhile.

Eagles, I'm so excited to hear what you think about Code Name Verity! I read it a few years ago and thought it was absolutely amazing - I remember recommending it to everyone. I recently bought a used copy of it plus the sequel, and I'm hoping I love it just as much years later. junch817, No Exit is another one of my favorites. I read it all in about a day because I was so stressed.

I also have a Code Name Verity spare copy.
Iโm in a reading rut. I donโt know how I have no holds but I just canโt focus on reading. I may need a YA book to read quickly so I get my mojo back.

iโve had code name verity on my shelf for years and havenโt read - sounds like i should read it. i finished all adults here. it was alright, a nice change of pace from the thrillers iโve been reading.
iโm currently listening to uneasy street (heard about it here). itโs pretty interesting and i do like listening while i get house stuff done, just not sure how much iโm actually absorbing. iโm currently reading we are all the same in the dark - wonderful, atmospheric writing.

It sounds counterintuitive, but when this happens to me, grazing on a big meaty classic that Iโve been meaning to read a long time seems to help. โ60 percent of the time, it works every time.โ

Bookshelves Thatโs not a bad idea. I have Pachinko and Overstory on my to-read shelf. I also was just looking at Brandi Carlisleโs memoir. It looks like the audiobook version has songs included somehow. I donโt usually audiobook though.

I finished The Gift and it was fine. A fairly standard thriller, nothing really remarkable about it, but fine for a $0.99 book.
Iโm reading Black-Eyed Susans now. Itโs by the same author as We Are All the Same in the Dark, which I loved. Iโm only 15% into this book but itโs excellent so far.

Tangential to the thread but yesterday was one of those rare days I felt I won at parenting because I overheard my son calling my daughter โtricksy little hobbitโ. ๐๐๐

I'm a third of the way through the latest Maisie Dobbs and it is as wonderful as ever. I've been really feeling the void that there wasn't an installment last year, spending time with it now. Listening to the narrator is like hearing your best friend talk to you. I laid in bed for 2 hours in the dark just listening last night. Winspear's writing is lyrical and descriptive in the very best ways.

I really enjoyed Ruth Reichls books (garlic and sapphires and save me the plums) Hood Feminism was great Uneasy Street: The Anxieties of Affluence - this one was SO fascinating. And honestly made me glad I am not wealthy and it made me very thankful for what I have in a really weird way. I listened to Reichl's audiobooks and enjoyed them too! I'm going to look into the other two you mentioned. I haven't heard of Uneasy Street, but it sounds interesting. I'm late but Jenny Lawson's audiobooks are amazing. She's funny and covers some heavy topics too. She reads her own and I just love her beyond measure.
