I am almost done with Hello, Summer. I am really enjoying it, but I hope it doesn't drag since it is still about 150 pages till the end.

I listened to Reichl's audiobooks and enjoyed them too! I'm going to look into the other two you mentioned. I haven't heard of Uneasy Street, but it sounds interesting. I'm late but Jenny Lawson's audiobooks are amazing. She's funny and covers some heavy topics too. She reads her own and I just love her beyond measure.Β Not late. Always building my list! I'll add hers to my list. I've read a couple of her books, but a while ago, so I wouldn't mind listening to one even if I've read it.

I just finished Dear Child by Romy Hausmann and thought it was very good; I was glad to not be disappointed by the ending and the way the story unfolded was done really masterfully. I know a lot of people have a hard time when books switch back and forth between perspectives but that's never an issue for me. It's definitely heavy subject material but it was well done.

Also my library lets you request things that aren't in their collection. If you want something and they don't have it, ask! ETA I listen to a lot of audiobooks and I love nonfiction so I have recommendations for days. But right now I'm listening to the Obama book and it's a million discs long so I feel like I can't remember anything else I did recently. I might also recommend Mary Roach or Caitlin Doughty, but you have to be into kinda weird stuff.

junch817 95 books out would give me so much anxiety! Do you know where they are?! π For the most part they are all in our living room or upstairs in my daughters room. Itβs 80% kids books. My 5 year old is obsessed with Elephant and Piggie books, and also loves Peppa Pig, so we just recently went through my phone together and requested pretty much every book that existed in our county.

I just finished The Once and Future Witches and oh my gosh I loved it so much. My hold on this just came in but I'm going to have to wait a few days because I already have like 12 books checked out.

Oh boy, there was fun book twitter drama yesterday. Lauren Hough is a debut author who released a book of essays that came out yesterday. She got on Twitter with screenshots of people who gave her four star reviews and was talking shit about them not giving her five stars. Said the goodreads people are nerds and they need to grow up. So her book went from a 4.5 star rating yesterday to a 1.7 star rating right now because people are MAD at her.

I need to figure out how to stay on top of book drama. I also have no idea why she thought this would end well. Her agent has to be so angry. Like girl!! Stfu!! 4 star reviews are good, omg.

I would change my 4 star to a one star if someone complained on twitter like that. I mean really?! 4 stars is great.

So sheβs blaming her tweets on being stoned at 3am? Good to know you can say whatever you want and not be held accountable if you are stoned and itβs the middle of the night.

I just noticed that I hit my 2021 year goal on goodreads of 52 books. I may need to update my goal π Thatβs amazing! I was full of myself for finishing 5 already π

I canβt believe she is still going after reviewers. Just stop already. She canβt even apologize and backtrack at this point, the damage has been done. Just so much stupidity.

Her and Emily Griffin can start a club At least Emily Griffin has a following before she lost her shit. For a debut author to do this on the day her book is released...my god. Itβs harder to not read a book by an author you previously enjoyed but itβs not that hard at all to skip an author you were slightly interested in and go to the next author you were slightly interested in.

I believe I did read one of Emily's books after her rampage, but I do library books so I justify it that way

Didnβt know that goodreads reviews are such serious business If it is I feel I need to step up my game because I pretty much rate everything a 3 unless I really really liked it then I do a 4. To get a 5 I have to literally try and steal time to read or pass it to everyone I love and know.
I never actually write reviews anymore either. I do read them though

I also saw that she shared some nasty message someone sent her. And it's 100% unacceptable for someone to do that, but she's not at all acknowledging what happened and deleted her tweets. So it just looks like some random mean reviewers attacked her. And she's getting a lot of support over it. I donβt understand this AT ALL. She is literally pretending like she didnβt cause this entire thing. I mean, come on Lauren, did you ever stop to think that maybe the person that tweeted those mean things about you was just stoned when they typed it? π

Do you all mean Emily Giffin? The author of Something Borrowed and Something Blue? I used to love her books but haven't read her in ages. What did she do?

This past week I read Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating. I found Hazel really irritating and felt the story dragged. It was ok, I guess, but not great. I also read Dear Edward which was great! It was sad for sure but also hopeful and a definite thinker. I really enjoyed it and has someone mentioned before, it will stick with me.
I'm onto The Worst Best Man. So far so good.

the 5 star reviews segment on mean book club is my favourite. Like when a book is fucking terrible and then people stan it so hard. I think the episode with Ivanka Trumps book - those reviews were funny.

I cannot imagine putting a piece of myself, like a memoir, out there to be critiqued by others. However, at least I'd know better than to stalk reviews on social media and then bash reviewers! Did she take expect everyone to just give her all 5* reviews? 4* is great! Isn't 3* still "I liked it" for Goodreads?

I read Second First Impressions today. I didnβt remember that she was The Hating Game author until I finished it and saw her other books. It made sense because I spent the whole book thinking that she was such a good writer π I didnβt like it quite as much as The Hating Game, but it was well-written, with a creative setting and drama that felt real and rooted in the charactersβ histories rather than just manufactured. Would recommend.
