It's a new month!
Did you finish the books you wanted to read in March? Were there any books you absolutely hated or loved? Any books coming out this month that you're excited about?

I said it before but I'll say it again, I loved Temporary by Hilary Leichter and encourage everyone to give it a try and see what they think. I just realized that the "Fall of Koli" by M.R. Carey came out at the end of last month and I'm so excited to start. It's the last book in a trilogy and I loved the other two. He also wrote "The Girl with all the Gifts" which some of you might know or have seen the film but I'm enjoying the Koli trilogy more than those two books.

March was a good reading month for me. I read 15 books. My favorite was We Are All the Same in the Dark. My least favorite was Finlay Donovan.
I think the only books on my TBR list that are being released this month are Mother May I by Joshilyn Jackson and Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle.

I read 18 books in March and it wasn’t all great. I one-starred 3 books and two-starred two others which is a pretty high percentage of low ratings for me. But I read some really good ones too, especially right at the end (from yesterday’s post but I will plug them again: Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton, The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa and The House in the Cerulean Sea). I really wanted to get to the next Expanse book last month but I ran out of time so that is on my list for April. I also have The Midnight Library from the library. For releases this month, I really want to try Dial A For Aunties and I agree with caer that I am super excited about the new Sarah Hogle.

Twice Shy totally reminds me of the Netflix movie, "Falling Inn Love" which is a real guilty pleasure of mine so I might have to check that out.

I'm still listening to Barack but I'm almost done. I finished Confessions on the 745 and I really liked it. Often these types of books have endings that are dumb to me and ruin it so that was a happy surprise.
I just started I am I am I am by Maggie O'Farrell. But it's a few years old

The Devil and the Dark Water sounds really interesting. I think I'm going to give it a try as well! Oh wait just saw that it's the same author who wrote the 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and I'm one of the few people in the world who didn't really enjoy that so maybe I'll wait on it a bit
Also 18 books? I'm feeling like a big underachiever LOL.

I'm fine being alone on this island and I didn't think it was poorly written. It just wasn't my taste at all. But most people love it so definitely give it a try.

March was a pretty terrible reading month for me. So was February, so was January, and most months for the past year. I think my anxiety is just getting in the way of relaxing with a good book.
There are a bunch of books coming out this summer I'm excited for so hopefully I'll get out of my slump soon!
Life's Too Short by Abby Jimenez comes out on April 6th. Looking forward to that one!

I read 13 books last month. 7 were MG/YA books. Chris Hadfield’s An Astronaut’s Guide was the most fun to read.
I finished Beyond the Bright Sea by Lauren Wolk the other day. I enjoyed it so I’ll try to get to her Wolf Hollow book this month.
I’m in the middle of Gory Details: Adventures from the Dark Side of Science by Erika Engelhaupt. It was recommended since I read Dark Archives. It’s not as engaging since it covers a wide range of topics but I like it enough to finish it.
Library holds that are coming my way this month: A World on the Wing by Scott Weidensaul The Home Place: memoirs of a colored man’s love affair with nature by J.Drew Lanham Ms. Adventure: my wild explorations in science, lava, and life by Jess Phoenix

I finished 8 books in March, my favorites being Daisy Jones and the 6 and A Court of Silver Flames.
I have started the Mortal Instruments series and really enjoyed book 1. I’m unsure about listening to the final Discovery of Witches book, I feel so meh about them

I finished 11 books in March. Addie LaRue and Evelyn Hardcastle were my faves of the month. Eat smarter was very good in an informational way too. Currently reading: The Sanatorium Super Attractor Everything is Figureoutable

adelbert I haven’t read Evelyn Hardcastle. Why didn’t you like that one? I’ve read a lot more since the pandemic but I’m starting to go back into the office May 3rd (I’ll be fully vaccinated) so my high number days are almost over!

I read a chapter or 2 of Watching from the Dark last night too but I was so tired I may have to start over
But I am picking up The Hunting Party today so I may do that instead.

Not really fantasy and not really NOT fantasy. In a way it’s a very humdrum tale of an orphanage and the social worker sent to check if the orphanage is taking good care of the children (who just happen to be magical). If it doesn’t appeal to you, I would just ignore everyone who liked it. Too many books to read to force yourself to read something you aren’t really interested in!

I had a good month for reading, I read 25 books this month. Favorites were A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, Much Ado About You, Anxious People, House of Salt and Sorrow, The Wrath and the Dawn, The Inheritance Games, and Josh & Hazel's Guide to Not Dating. I did have a few 1 star reads, mostly KU romances.

I’m gonna come in here and make an author suggestion 😮
If you’ve never read anything by Mary Roach, you should try her out. She’s funny and her books are so educational in a fun way. My two favs are Stiff and Bonk.

Oh, interesting. May I ask what you didn't like about it? It's one of my favorites of 2021 so far. I thought it was very sappy. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie in a bad way. It just didn't hit the spot for me although I love magical realism. I thought the dialogue was fun but all the characters seemed so forced quirky to me. But again I totally understand the appeal for others and I think it's a great book, just not for me.

Speaking of Evelyn Hardcastle, it’s on sale today for $2.99 on Amazon if anyone is waiting to read it. I liked it - it wasn’t perfect but I thought it was super unique and really fun overall.

I didn't love how he wrote the female characters. I found them a bit one dimensional. I did enjoy the journey though.

I read 17 books last month. My favorites were Home Before Dark by Riley Sager and Unraveling Oliver by Liz Nugent. My least favorites were Necessary People by Anna Pitoniak and Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert.
I have about 10 pages left in The Craftsman by Sharon Bolton and I am really enjoying it. I had to really force myself to put it down at 1am last night!
