caer whatβs The Replay? I assume a podcast, but Googling is not clarifying it for me. Oh sorry, itβs the replay of the zoom last night on the Peloton book club page. I canβt remember- are you a part of the group? If not, you should be, they have a ton of authors coming through! I'm impressed with what they've been able to put on the schedule. The one thing I don't like about the group is that people post pictures of the book instead of writing the title in their post.

I just finished Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, who is an author I adore but this particular book fell a little flat for me.
I read Justine by Forsyth Harmon before that and I can not get it out of my head. Itβs a short read, technically YA I think, but about an obsessive relationship between two teens in the 90βs, so a lot of the pop culture details were those of my formative teen years. I read it in one sitting and the way it wrapped up literally made me gasp.

I agree, it makes it hard to search. I think there was some discussion about changing that but I havenβt seen any changes yet.

Has anyone here read House of Leaves? I just got it in the mail, and I'm very intimidated!

Iβm slogging through a bunch of library holds that came up one right after another.
Pillars of the Earth was beautifully written and it sucked me in by like page 200, but holy long descriptions Batman.
The Rose Code was in between The Alice Network and The Huntress for me. I loved the stuff about code breaking and the machines they used. Some of the characters (Beth) were sort of one dimensional or flat or something for me.
The Survivors was a quick read with a classic mystery formula. Nothing spectacular but worth reading.
7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle was good but Iβm not sure it stood up to all the hype for me. A week or so out from finishing I keep getting details mixed up with Mexican Gothic, which I read over a month ago.
Fly Away was meh for me. I didnβt love Firefly Lane either, and Iβm usually a Hannah fan.
Iβm 1/2 way through The Four Winds and really liking that. I also started The Likeness but am not far enough in to really know what I think yet.
Still need to finish The Count of Monte Cristo when my hold comes up in a few days.

It was one of those books I added to my list based on lists I read last year. It had high ratings on Goodreads but I have noticed the rating slowly decline over the last few months as more and more people read it. Guess I will push that one back on my list and read something else

I donβt want to say more to spoil anything but if you do read it I would love to talk about it with you.

I read and enjoyed Eight Perfect Murders. I really liked the meta aspects of the book and itβs discussion of classic mysteries. I did feel like it lost some steam towards the end but I still liked it overall.
I also read a romcom, Love Songs For Skeptics. It was cute. I think itβs a debut novel and it did feel that way at times - it was a little long in some places, underdeveloped in others. But it reminded me a bit of Mhairi MacFarlaneβs books, which is a big plus for me.
I bought an older thriller, The Gift, from Amazon for $0.99 yesterday, so Iβm going to give that a try next.

I blew through the 3rd Bridgerton novel last night. Iβm about 25% into the 4th novel today. Iβm enjoying them a lot!

I read American Dirt last week and wow, that is one that will stick with me for awhile. Iβm aware there is some controversy about the author but I didnβt realize that when I started it.
Enjoyed House in the Cerulean Sea a lot!!
I began reading The Book of Two ways by Jodi Picoult and it just wasnβt grabbing me. So I put that aside and Iβm reading the new Peter Swanson book Every Vow You Break. Should be a good read.

Started and finished Take A Hint Dani Brown today. Loved it. I'm so excited for the last book but there's like an 18 week wait at my library.
Now I'm starting One to Watch and The Wife Upstairs.

My very last Julia Quinn just became available- because of Miss Bridgerton. Sigh. These have been fun.

Finished One to Watch and I enjoyed it, it was a fun book. Read it in one sitting while DH watched the new Justice League, lol. I decided to skip The Wife Upstairs because I just saw a bunch of bad reviews.
I need to do my reread of Shadow and Bone because it's due back Monday. I'm also working on Unhoneymooners and Letters to the Lost which are also both due back soon.

nelzie I didnβt like The Wife Upstairs but I like to be able to have someone, anyone!, to root for. In this book I found all the characters to be horribly unlikeable. This past week I finished the first two Carsington books by Loretta Chase. I quite liked them but I liked most of Tessa Dareβs books better. Most things Iβve seen say Mr Impossible is better than Miss Wonderful, but I actually think I liked Miss Wonderful better. Going against the grain again! I also finished People We Meet On Vacation. It was lovely.

Iβm debating whether to start #5 right away or if Iβd like to read something a bit heavier in between regency popcorn novels. Maybe Iβll try Winter Garden - itβs been on my list for awhile.

The strap on my free library tote bag broke the other day - my dog had been chewing on it. If you use something fun specifically for your library bag, please share it with me! Iβm sure I have some random tote bags throughout my house, but thatβs not as fun as buying something new π Also, I sometimes come back with 20 books at a time when Iβm picking up things that came in for myself and both kids, so I definitely need it to be sturdy.
