Anyone have any non-fiction audiobooks to recommend? I am interested in a variety of subjects. I think I'd prefer something other than a book written by a celebrity, unless it is really awesome. I enjoy them, but I'm maxing out right now and need a break. I struggle with fiction audiobooks, but if there is one I should try, I'm open to it. I did enjoy Daisy Jones and the Six. I just recommended Love, Nina upthread. It's kind of a light & funny series of letters by author Nina Stibbe to her sister in the 1980s. She reads the audiobook herself and it's quite nice. I looked this up when I saw that, but my library doesn't have it!

I really enjoyed How to Be a Family by Dan Kois. It's part parenting book, but mostly a travel memoir.Β Ugh, another one my library doesn't have! I'm always surprised that there are so many things I can't get at the library. I added the actual book to my TBR though!

I really enjoyed Ruth Reichls books (garlic and sapphires and save me the plums) Hood Feminism was great Uneasy Street: The Anxieties of Affluence - this one was SO fascinating. And honestly made me glad I am not wealthy and it made me very thankful for what I have in a really weird way. I listened to Reichl's audiobooks and enjoyed them too! I'm going to look into the other two you mentioned. I haven't heard of Uneasy Street, but it sounds interesting.

For as meh as I feel about the Lady Darby books, I am on the 5th π they are nice background at the least. There 4 or 5 more that I will no doubt read.

I was bogged down in To Love and To Loathe, bored out of my mind. So I ditched it for Twice Shy, and I absolutely loved it. That was so not the book I expected. I might read You Deserve Each Other now, which I originally passed on because I didnβt get the appeal of two people being crappy to each other for a whole book.

I watched the replay with Ashley Audrain this morning and really enjoyed it. She seems very sweet and thoughtful and I liked hearing about her experience writing The Push.
Iβm excited to hear that she has another book in the works and LOVED the concept - she said it focuses on that part in your life (mid 30s- mid 40s) where all the big decisions of your life are basically over and that feeling of being stuck with those choices. She said itβs a period of life that doesnβt get much discussion and I agree.
Did anyone else watch?

I didn't watch her interview yet but it's on my to do list today. April has definitely been a better reading month for me. I guess I just needed a few rom-com's to get me out of my rut. Much Ado About You was very cute and I'd recommend it. The Worst Best Man was also pretty good. I did not love Life's Too Short. It was the weakest in this series IMO. There was just too much heavy stuff and not enough fluffy moments. I'll probably keep the rom-com theme going and read Twice Shy next.

I started People You Meet On Vacation yesterday, and I am OBSESSED. Goodreads is so ridiculous. I wanted to add this book to my "to read" list and in the search *0* results came up. Why would they when the title is "People We Meet on Vacation". I mean a programmer must be able to fix this search function in an afternoon. It's so bad.

It's amazing how bad Goodreads is as a website. There's no reason for it to be so crappy. Also, the fact that you can't search an author and just be brought straight to their author page is dumb.

I just finished Confessions on the 7:45 wind wasnβt too impressed. I didnβt like anyone and guessed most of the twists early on. I also felt like the author repeated whole sentences a lot. I found myself wondering who edited this book more than once.
I think Iβm going to do Josh and Hazel or Dear Edward next. Very different books so I need to figure out what mood Iβm in.

I think when Amazon bought it, they were like, well, cornered another market, so now we donβt need to do anything to improve it. So disappointing. I almost deleted my account when Amazon bought it, but Iβm not aware of any competing sites, and I liked being able to see what my friends are reading. Which Amazon knows.

Omg Goodreads search is the worst!! How can an app that is so completely amazing have such a terrible search function?! I will start to type a title and then I will see it pop up below, and as I lift my finger to go down and click the book, sometimes my finger slides onto another letter and then BAM, the book is now gone.... yet it will show me 20 other random books. Or I will see the book pop up as the 5th option, and then it registers a new letter I typed because there is a slight delay, and the order completely changes, but it has registered my click and Iβm now looking at some other random book. Or like you said, accidentally replacing βweβ with βyouβ, and itβs suddenly like, I have no idea what book you could possibly be talking about.
And how in the world do they not have a recent search feature?!
