I just finished In A Holidaze. Not my fave Christina Lauren book, but not my least fave, either. The beginning was a little too much telling, but it was cute once it got settled.
I was so slow getting through A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow that it got returned out from under me with 15% left to read. Oops. Now I need to track down a copy so I can read the end, because I'm back at the end of the ebook hold line.

I started Anna K on audio today and I am really enjoying it. Iβve never read Anna Karenina, but this is a YA retelling and Iβm about an hour into it. Just downloaded this. I usually donβt do audiobooks but itβs our spring break and my kid and I have like 12 hours of drive time in the next few days. I havenβt read Anna Karenina, so I was a little shocked by the turn the end took, but if youβre familiar with that story I guess itβs expected. But I am π³ right now.

Three finds from my libraryβs used book sale that have been on my TBR list for awhile. I saw The Help but always wanted to read the book. Who knows when that will ever happen since my TBR list is miles long π€

I'm listening to Love, Nina (letters from author Nina Stibbe to her sister in the early 80s) and it is highly enjoyable, esp for an audiobook (they are usually a "only if I have to on a long drive" thing for me). But I started reading the hard copy and switched to the audiobook for a long drive and I'm enjoying the audio more than the paper. Anyway, I recommend it for anyone looking for some funny light non-fiction.

It took me awhile to get through The Four Winds, by Kristin Hannah. It was harder for me to get into initially than some of her other heavier novels (The Nightingale, The Great Alone). Once I did, I really enjoyed it and thought that the ending really came to an excellent climax with both the plot and Elsa and Loredaβs character arcs. Iβm hitting Bridgerton novel #2 next. It will be nice to have a HEE after reading about the Dust Bowl and Great Depression. I just finished The Four Winds a few days ago and had the same thoughts. It was really good in the end (although it felt, ironically, a bit rushed in the last few chapters) but not nearly as good as The Nightingale or Winter Garden. The latter two have stuck with me all these years later. Iβm finally reading Jessica Simpsonβs Open Book as a palate cleanser of sorts.

I finished Dear Edward a few days ago, and my g-d, it was so heartbreakingly beautiful! From the first paragraph I knew it was going to break my heart, and it did, in the most devastatingly gorgeous way. Itβs one of those books Iβll think about periodically for the rest of my life.

I just finished Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah last night. The end just had me sobbing. Such a good book. Not sure what to read next. I have a ton of BOTM books on my shelves, so probably one of those.

LOL. I finished it and was like, "Meh, it was fine," but then I started talking about everything I hated and really riled myself up into realizing that it was terrible. This was totally me. I just read all your comments and couldnβt agree more. The more I think about it Iβm just like βreally!?!?β Ok, Iβm gonna let it go and try to pick something better for my next read. I just finished it and same. I loved the setting and the set up but the ending was like what? {Spoiler About Ending} I think the "reason" behind it fell so flat. it was way too relatable in the way that.... too many women know what sexual assault is like and yet...this kind of plot just doesn't happen as a result of it so it was soooo unbelievable.
I enjoyed it until closer to the end when I realized it wasn't going to actually be tied together in some sort of twist that made everything make sense.
My favourite review was:
"character has this nervous habit of chipping her nail polish, and then sheβs hiding somewhere within the hotel, and they find her because they follow a TRAIL OF NAIL POLISH CHIPS.
I believe this about sums this novel up."

ooh The Huntress was a really great book too.
We picked up our new camper last night and the first thing to go into it was my new books! I slept in it in the driveway, reading A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow and it felt like a Wednesday night mini vacation.

I just finished The Push and I am so glad I'm done with it. It's the saddest, most depressing book I've ever read in a long time. It was just a beat down page after page.
I'm on You Love Me now.

For those in the Peloton group, are you going to "attend" the author discussion for The Push tonight? I'm going to try to get on. It's right before the boy's bedtime so we'll see.

Anyone have any non-fiction audiobooks to recommend?
I am interested in a variety of subjects. I think I'd prefer something other than a book written by a celebrity, unless it is really awesome. I enjoy them, but I'm maxing out right now and need a break.
I struggle with fiction audiobooks, but if there is one I should try, I'm open to it. I did enjoy Daisy Jones and the Six.

I really enjoyed How to Be a Family by Dan Kois. It's part parenting book, but mostly a travel memoir.

I really enjoyed Ruth Reichls books (garlic and sapphires and save me the plums) Hood Feminism was great Uneasy Street: The Anxieties of Affluence - this one was SO fascinating. And honestly made me glad I am not wealthy and it made me very thankful for what I have in a really weird way.

I just finished Scythe. It's the first in a YA trilogy about a world where mortality has been solved and nobody dies. But to keep the world from being overpopulated, scythes have to determine who dies and reap them basically. I liked it, but I had a lot of issues with the believability of the world that took away from it quite a bit for me. I think I'll probably still read the second one though.

I just recommended Love, Nina upthread. It's kind of a light & funny series of letters by author Nina Stibbe to her sister in the 1980s. She reads the audiobook herself and it's quite nice.
