I only read 5 books in March - I got hung up for a week trying to read House of Leaves before I gave up on it. I also slogged through Theme Music, but I'm not sure why.
I think my favourite read was The Project and Concrete Rose. As for this month, I'm very much a mood reader, but I hope to get through some of the dark fiction/horror books that have come out the last few months such as Children of Chicago, Red Widow, Goddess of Filth and Go Down Hard.

I've been reading A Cuban Girl's Guide to Tea and Tomorrow for-ev-er and I'm not even at 50% yet. I don't know why it's such a slog for me, since it ticks all my usual boxes. It took me forever to get through my last book, too (I'm usually a very fast reader), so maybe it's a me thing.

Where is the BOTM thing through that is spoken about so often? I might look into it since my library sucks and only allows me 4 holds.

I managed to get through 5 books in March. Reading the giant Midnight Sun and then ACOSF back to back in the end of February has really burnt me out. I did manage to read the first Throne of Glass and now I have the Alice Network sitting on my kindle ready to start.

I keep hearing such good things about House in the Cerulean Sea but it just has all the elements of things I never enjoy. Maybe I'll try listening to it. I don’t know. It fits a weird place. Not really fantasy and not really NOT fantasy. In a way it’s a very humdrum tale of an orphanage and the social worker sent to check if the orphanage is taking good care of the children (who just happen to be magical). If it doesn’t appeal to you, I would just ignore everyone who liked it. Too many books to read to force yourself to read something you aren’t really interested in! I agree but I also think it's important to try things out of my comfort zone from time to time. But my list is sooooooo long it's hard to make room for things that don't appeal to me right off the bat. I don't really enjoy fantasy or sci fi but I have liked some books that fit into the "magical realism" genre, which it seems this might.

Oh, interesting. May I ask what you didn't like about it? It's one of my favorites of 2021 so far. I thought it was very sappy. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie in a bad way. It just didn't hit the spot for me although I love magical realism. I thought the dialogue was fun but all the characters seemed so forced quirky to me. But again I totally understand the appeal for others and I think it's a great book, just not for me. So sappy! Also, it was the most predictable book I have read in a very long time.

For March, I enjoyed Me by Elton John and Daisy Jones and the Six. I listened to both of them.
My least favorite was The Event by Whitney Dineen. I borrowed it from the Prime Lending Library, or whatever it is called now.
For April, I'll finish You Had Me at Hello by Mhairi Mcfarlane. I just downloaded Well Met and Furia from the library. I picked up a copy of Disability Visibility from a local bookstore, and I'm looking forward to reading that.

I’m gonna come in here and make an author suggestion 😮 If you’ve never read anything by Mary Roach, you should try her out. She’s funny and her books are so educational in a fun way. My two favs are Stiff and Bonk. I love Mary Roach too! Stiff and Packing for Mars are my favorites!

I found it a very peaceful read and I think it was a good book for the moment for me but I didn’t think about it too much after I finished it, if that makes sense. I know that is very different from a lot of people.

BOTM people what are y’all choosing for April? I was torn between three: Libertie, People We Meet on Vacation, and Adobo & Arsenic. I went with the People We Meet on Vacation and added the others to my library TBR list.

Pretty much all the books sounded good this month and I have credits so I’m sure I’ll wind up ordering more but I’m starting with Hunting Wives

I'm super excited about People We Meet On Vacation. Emily Henry is someone I always enjoy. A Million Junes was my favorite read of the year when I read it. I also really liked Beach Read, and I don't care for romances too often.
Right now I'm reading an ARC of The Drowning Kind, and I think it's going to be really good!! I'm also listening to Crank which is a verse novel about a teenage girl getting addicted to meth. The author based it on her own daughter's addiction, and it is really beautiful and really hard to listen to.

For March, I read 13 books. My favorites were Finlay Donovan and Obsidio (the finale to a YA trilogy that I really ended up loving). My least favorites were The Sanitorium and The Lost Apothecary. Not necessarily that they were the worst books ever, but they were definitely the biggest let downs.

I really strongly disliked it. I'm fine being alone on this island and I didn't think it was poorly written. It just wasn't my taste at all. But most people love it so definitely give it a try. Oh, interesting. May I ask what you didn't like about it? It's one of my favorites of 2021 so far. Same!

I read 12 in March. My favorite was Ethan Hawke's novel- A Bright Ray of Darkness. I'm reading the Magnolia Sword right now (so far so good!) and am looking forward to Maisie next. Rhys Bowen's new stand alone book comes out mid month, Venice Sketchbook. I usually enjoy her.

I need BOTM for non-fiction. It was rainy and gloomy today which led me to accidentally discovering that Gory Details is glow in the dark!! Also, I’m not sure what it says about me that I already knew most of these gory details.

tatorhead328 I forgot I wanted to try The Illuminae Files based on your last recommendation! I’ve added them to my cart for my next purchase. Are you planning on reading Jay Kristoff’s new book (Empire of the Vampire)? Lakes That is so cool that the cover glows in the dark!!!
