I loved the YA series Lockwood and Co about an alternate reality with ghosts in London and a group of children who fight them. My description is terrible but the books are so fun! He also wrote the Bartimaeous Trilogy which is another really good YA fantasy series.
Anyway just saw Jonathan Stroud has a new series The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne and I'm so excited.
Set in a fragmented future England, The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne introduces us to a world where gunfights and monsters collide, and where the formidable outlaw Scarlett McCain fights daily against the odds.
So I guess I'll be reading all Easter break. (Fri/Sun/Mon) are all holidays here.

tatorhead328 I forgot I wanted to try The Illuminae Files based on your last recommendation! Iโve added them to my cart for my next purchase. Are you planning on reading Jay Kristoffโs new book (Empire of the Vampire)? Lakes That is so cool that the cover glows in the dark!!! Oohh I hadn't even heard of it, but I'm on board after reading the description. I also have his Lifelike series on my TBR. His concepts are always so interesting!

Iโve had his Nevernight books on my list for years and have also had the Illuminae Files on there for years. I always think his books sound great but have never gotten around to reading them. But you recommended Illuminae right around the same time Robin Hobb posted a recommendation of Empire of the Vampire. Then Kristoffโs summary/review of Empire of the Vampire on Goodreads had me laughing so I think the universe is telling me it is time to give him a try!

I started reading again after a serious rut after having my last kid. I just need to default to reading rather than wasting time donโt other things after the kids go to bed. I love reading and it makes me so happy to find good books.
In the last few weeks I read Educated, Where the Crawdads Sing and Born a Crime, the Trevor Noah autobiography. Would recommend all of those.

I reads about 10 books in march nothing too exciting.
Add me to the club to the club of not being happy with the Libby updates. So confused and donโt like the layout.

i read 10 books in march - my favorites were: the great believers, 84, charing cross road, and the midnight library. least favorite was such a fun age.
i just finished she lies in wait which was a decent british procedural. up next is eight perfect murders. all of my holds are at least 2 weeks out so iโll have to find something quick until those come through.

I finished The Craftman and loved it. I also read You Deserve Each Other and was so into it and it kind of just ended. I wanted to follow what happened with the wedding and mother in law. It was a quick fun read though.

I finished Whoโs That Girl and thought it was super cute. Now Iโve officially read all of her books and the countdown is on for Mhairi MacFarlaneโs next book being released next month. I really love her romances.
Iโm sticking with romcoms and giving Christina Laurenโs My Favorite Half Night Stand a try next.

It was a quick fun read though. I really enjoyed You Deserve Each Other, but I don't feel like I got a lot of insight from his POV. Why was he acting the way he was? I felt like some things were missing and definitely wanted more, too.

BOTM people, if you havenโt shipped your box yet, they just added Good Company as an add on choice, too. Just, if the previous options werenโt good enough. ๐

I just finished the Book of Longing. That was quite the book to read the week of Easter. Quite enjoyed it though, loved the feminist themes and the risk the author took in writing it.

The Magnolia Sword was sooo good. Iโm going to have to read everything by Sherry Thomas now. Iโm so glad you liked it! I was just thinking the same thing so I looked at her historical romances. Unfortunately, my local bookstore doesnโt have them so Iโm resorting to Amazon. I also own her Heart of the Blade duology, which has Leighton Atwood (from Art of Theft) as the hero. She hasnโt missed for me yet!

My reading has been eclectic lately, to say the least!
I picked up King Leopoldโs Ghost again after putting it down for months. Almost finished now. I havenโt collected all my thoughts on it yet, but I do recommend it. (By Adam Hochschild, chronicling the atrocities of the European colonization of the Congo.)
I read the first three novels in Eloisa Jamesโ Wilde series as my โfluffโ reading and liked them. Iโve just started the 4th (Viola), but it isnโt grabbing me yet.
Also on my short stack for this month, some library books:
A Bright Ray of Darkness by Ethan Hawke (hold just came in!)
Travels with Myself and Another by Martha Gellhorn
(Kind of goes along with a paperback of Hemingway short stories that I randomly bought at Costco this week; planning to revisit some of my college reading.)
The Race for Paris by Meg Waite Clayton, just because it looked intriguing. (โTwo female journalists, denied access to press camps and the front, join forces with a military photographer and race toward Paris, to record its liberation from the Nazis and thereby make history.โ)

Itโs been a while since I worked in a a library but Iโm sure there are some confused customers out there. They should have eased into the changes rather than all at once.

Good Morning!
I think I'm starting to get out of my reading slump. I finished Much Ado About You earlier this week and it was really cute. I'm currently reading The Worst Best Man and it seems decent so far, too.
There are some good deals on Kindle books today! I bought The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See. I'm debating a few others (One by One by Ruth Ware and Shipped by Angie Hockman). Ugly Love, The Unhoneymooners, and Invisible Girl were all good.

I finished My Favorite Half Night Stand and kind of hated it. Christina Lauren is really hit and miss for me and this one was definitely a miss. Itโs a romcom pet peeve of mine but I hate when the author(s) have to tell you that a character is cool and funny, rather than, you know, making them cool and funny.
Iโm reading Yes & I Love You now, another romcom. I like it so far. Itโs set partly in the improv comedy world and I love improv so thatโs fun. Another romcom preference of mine - I donโt love overly long, very detailed love scenes. Like I love the lead up to them but I donโt need pages of โthe P goes in the Vโ and this one has a lot of that. But putting that aside, itโs a fun read.

Speaking of Evelyn Hardcastle, itโs on sale today for $2.99 on Amazon if anyone is waiting to read it. I liked it - it wasnโt perfect but I thought it was super unique and really fun overall. I just scored that deal for my nook from Barnes and noble. Thanks for the info!

I think I read 5 during March - my favorite was The Nightingale but I really enjoyed Verity too. I'm reading The Good Daughter by Slaughter now and enjoying it so far. I'll do a few more thrillers and then head back to some historical fiction.
I don't know how you guys read so many in a month. I don't watch any TV but can't manage to get through more than 1-2 a week.
