My hold for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo finally came up and I started it right away. I just REALLY like her writing.

So sad to finish Maisie. I hope there is another next year. It was great if you like Maisie Dobbs. I started the Venice Sketchbook- Rhys Bowen's new stand alone. I don't think it's my favorite. Also, 9/11 is described through the eyes of the British and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I get it was 20 years ago now, but I wasn't prepared to read about it.

Thereβs no greater joy than hating a book and then reading all of the bad reviews about it on Goodreads.

I'm having a hard time getting into, "The Rose Code" by Kate Quinn. I have only read about 15% of the book, so I'm not giving up yet, but I expected to find it more interesting right away. I really enjoyed, "The Alice Network," and thought "The Huntress," was decent.

byjove, I can't wait to read the new Maisie. I might have to buy it at this rate, my library doesn't have it yet. Or at least hadn't last time I looked, lol I'll look again.

Welp Iβm 0/2 on my book of the month club picks. Just finished People We Meet on Vacation and it was really not for me.
Next up is the One. I havenβt seen the show.

This past week I read Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating. I found Hazel really irritating and felt the story dragged. It was ok, I guess, but not great. I also read Dear Edward which was great! It was sad for sure but also hopeful and a definite thinker. I really enjoyed it and has someone mentioned before, it will stick with me. I'm onto The Worst Best Man. So far so good. I feel like Iβm the only one who was βmehβ about Dear Edward. Am i broken?

I finished Black Eyed Susans and thought it was terrific. I think the writer does such a wonderful job creating memorable characters and her writing is so lyrical, especially for a thriller.
Next Iβm going to read When the Stars Go Dark. Itβs a another thriller - Iβve heard good things about it so fingers crossed itβs decent.

Not yet. The only other one I've read so far is Daisy Jones, but I completely loved it. I'm 75% through Evelyn Hugo already and I'm dying to know what happens.

Iβm definitely broken but I do think some books speak to you when you need to hear them. For me the existential crisis and resolution spoke to me at this moment where I feel like Iβm floating untethered. If I read it a year ago, it likely wouldnβt have hit how it did.

Ok, finished up Evelyn Hugo tonight because I had to know how it ended. I really enjoyed that book.
I also read an early copy of a YA book called Never Saw You Coming. It was a little too much Jesus for me personally, but I think it will be important to a lot of kids. If you know of any teens who have Christian beliefs but are struggling with the messaging of the church, this will be a good one for them when it comes out in September.
Now I'm not sure what to read next.

I am liking Winter Garden so far.
I started Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine on Audible and I think Iβm probably going to end up being meh. I know there were mixed reviews here.

Has anyone read The Ladies of the Secret Circus? It has more magic in it than I realized, but Iβm liking it so far. Iβm about 100 pages in.

I reread the first 2 books in the Shadow and Bone trilogy and now I'm starting The 3rd book. I don't think I ever read past the first 1-2 books. I'm really excited for the show next week!
Also working on Girl A and The Unhoneymooners, both are hard copies from the library and I've had for weeks but they keep getting pushed back because I have others to read.
I also have A Curse so Dark and Lonely ebook checked out. It's kind of a beauty and the beast retelling. It's decent so far.
I think I have several ebook holds that came in too so I need to get through these all so I can get those.

I finished Hello, Summer. Like most romance mysteries the ending was fast and a little weird but I still enjoyed it!

Iβve been stuck in fan fiction land and slacking with my book pile. I did read The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert (YA series). I liked the idea of it and was really into some parts but overall I was meh about it. I made it 50 pages into the sequel, The Night Country, and gave up. It was too dark and I felt like the characters were totally different. The third book, Tales from the Hinterland, is a collection of stand alone fairytales that are mentioned in the first two books. I picked a couple that I was interested in but didnβt read the entire collection. The covers of all three are so gorgeous and the reason why I impulse grabbed them from the library so Iβm disappointed that I couldnβt get into them.

I finished White Feminism by Koa Beck and I thought it was important, very eloquent and dry as hell. It was just one of those books that I wanted to read, thought the message was important, but every time I picked it up my mind wandered and I would start checking my phone or reading the same paragraph three times. Itβs almost embarrassing because I felt I was disrespecting the authorβs point but I just couldnβt concentrate on it. But I persevered!
I read a Jennifer Crusie after that, Tell Me Lies, and I didnβt think it was her best but it was still bonkers and enjoyable.

I still haven't got my hands on the seven husbands of evelyn hugo, but I see that the author has a new book coming out June 1st called Malibu Rising that looks good!
I have been reading The Paris Library and it's been pretty good so far.

I sped through Bridgerton books 5&6 over the past few days. Things have been rough this week because we had to put our cat to sleep and they were exactly what I needed to be reading.
