What apps do you recommend for reminders? I'd love one that covers things like when I need to prune, fertilize, etc. And I have no indoor plants, I need it for my herb garden, raspberries, currants, elderberries, roses, and other outdoor plants like that. I looked for the Planta app mentioned upthread but couldn't find it 🤔 Eta: just realized I couldn't find it bc it's for iOS. Anyone have a recommendation for Android apps? I have planta and have an android

Anyone here good with hydrangeas? We bought 8 in pots intending to plant them and last week we had a night where it got below freezing and snowed, which it wasn't forecast to do. I got them in the garage that morning, but the damage was done. There wasn't much growth on them to begin with but what was there is now terribly wilted and dead. There are, however, a few small spots at the base where new growth is happening. I don't know if I should get them in the ground and hope for the best, toss them altogether, or prune them back a bit to encourage more new growth. I also have absolutely zero clue about pruning.
Can anyone help me? Everywhere I've looked online talks about established plants rather then the younglings I have.

Use transplant shock if you have it. Then heavily feed.

Ls2012, cut anything squishy. Cut it all the way back if you must. Don’t worry, hydrangeas are hardier than they look.

Nooo I think I over watered my String of pearls. And they didn’t even get stringy yet! Have killed many strings of pearls. They’re so pretty but clearly not meant to live with me. 😅

I have literal bushels of peas right now. I’m flash freezing a bunch of them as my preserving method. That way we can throw them in stir fry etc throughout the year (or for awhile at least). This weekend I have to thin the turnips and carrots. I hate thinning but at least we can eat the turnip greens. Maybe the bunny will like the carrot sprouts. Oh I have too many radishes too. I’ll probably quick pickle those. It’s feeling abundant here! If only DS liked more of these veggies. 😅

Speaking of ranunculus the other day (I’ve always adored them), apparently there is a hard to find jumbo variety! These are WOW!

Yesterday I cut back my tomato plants a lot, and the sprawling grape tomato plant I put my 2 trellis for beans behind it and spread out the branches. They are legit 6’ long. 🤦♀️
My zucchini plants are starting to bud with the starts to the first flowers. Can’t wait!
Oh and my new persimmon tree has cute little baby buds on them.

I haven't even planted tomatoes yet and you all can already prune back 😂 Sorry, So Cal, so they are my tomato plants from last year. Also, I’m a covid gardener so I have no idea what I’m really doing. I probably was supposed to cut them back hard in the winter.

Got a decent second year crop. The perks of living in CA.

My purple tomatillos in the greenhouse were getting flower buds, so they’re getting planted out tomorrow. They’re still so small, I hope they can establish before really trying to set fruit. This is my first time growing tomatillos so maybe I did it wrong. 🤷🏼♀️

My garden is coming alive. Hostas, jack-in-the-pulpit, Virginia bluebells. I’d really like some consistent above 50 degrees temps so I can clean out my beds!

I am sorry if this has been covered, but I have to say that after months of being off of the politics board...coming back to seeing a whole thread on gardening is just so wholesome and beautiful. I will definitely be taking some of this advice!!!

My beans and sunflowers have come up! Such happy little sprouts. And DS claims he’s going to eat the beans. 🤞🏻 Our yard is surrounded by blooming citrus trees right now and it smells AMAZING. I feel like I’m in paradise every time I step outside. And we have a ton of baby cherries on the cherry tree!! Production is always hit or miss with that tree, so this is a very nice surprise. My tomatillos seem to be doing well having been transplanted. Will probably plant out purple basil starts this weekend. Tomato babies are growing so slow in the greenhouse. Idk why. Frustrating but oh well. I’m almost out of room for planting anyway.

The last plants (for this year) went into the pollinator garden this morning. It's a mix of swamp milkweed, honeysuckle, lemon hyssop, blueberries, sunflowers, lilies, Salvia, and tulips. I have room to add more next year when I inevitably find something new to fall in love with.

My hostas are coming back and my euphorbia has grown a foot in a week I swear. And the calendula are blooming!
Also my pilea has exploded since I downloaded the planta app. So another plug for the planta app, lol.
