This is a small thing, but it’s been pinging around in my head all day so I’m going to get it out here. DS2 just finished his first week of preschool with speech, OT, and special ed services. His absolute favorite thing is playing with some of his many plastic animals. The little silent dramas can go on for ages, and who knows what is happening. But today he was actually narrating, “dinosaur sad! Oh no, poor dinosaur! Horse butterfly, dinosaur sooo sad.” Such a small thing, but I’ve never heard him do that before, talk when he doesn’t have to and string together ideas. If this is a week in, it gives me such hope for how much progress he could make over time. A horse butterfly is the winged horse/Pegasus toy my mom gave him. I will never, ever correct him and I hope he calls it that forever 😂 This whole story is so sweet. ❤️ I’m glad he’s doing well.

I love gardening. But do not give me an inside plant as a gift. My mom sent me a bonsai tree for my anniversary in the fall and it’s dead now. It required more care than my children did. I am very survival of the fittest when running my life and choose my house plants accordingly. My in-laws gave ds sea monkeys for his birthday one year (ds, the nature nerd: AHEM. Mom. They’re brine shrimp.) and I kept those suckers alive for 1.5 years. But again, I have enough things to keep alive thank you very much. Have also killed a bonsai. I hate fussy plants.

Thank you so much for sharing his awesome achievement.

Awwww snowyowl that is so precious. I love kid phrases like horse butterfly. I also have a speech kid. The improvements in his speech and increase in his confidence after just one month was amazing.

snowyowl that made my heart all fuzzy My sons second grade teacher messaged me this morning. She found a handmade birthday card on her desk this morning with ten dollars in it. She wanted to let me know and see if it was ok. I didn’t know about any of this. He took the ten dollars out of his piggy bank for her. I told her to keep it and use it when she needs a pick me up. My greatest joy is raising kind and compassionate kids. Today is a good day.

Well, as expected, I checked the "wheres my refund" tool and my IRS account to see if a transcript was ready and nothing. They still don't think I filed. I'm really praying it's just the system glitches that I have heard about. I am already dreading the call I am going to make on Monday since I know after perusing the IRS board on Reddit that this is happening to thousands of people. I'm so frustrated. I just want to make sure my taxes are on record appropriately before the next stimulus. And you know, to get the money I am owed from the IRS.

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies, I can’t wait to show it to my kids. I think the three year old would be fine, but my four year old is much more nervous about scary movies so I’ll wait a few years. If you haven’t seen the Lego Jurassic Park series, they’re a hoot. They’re silly, not scary, so they’re good for sensitive kids.

Unfortunately calling the IRS for help can be quite a fruitless endeavor. Hopefully your experience is different from mine! Yeah, I called earlier this week and I was told I had to wait until Monday to call again because today was the magical "21 days" since they started accepting returns (I filed Feb 10 through Turbo tax and TT said it was accepted by the IRS). This is the information they have been telling a lot of people, is what I have gathered from Reddit, and also that many many people are having problems with their website. It sounds like this tax year is an absolute mess already. I just want to be able to confirm that the system does indeed HAVE my return since I already got my state refund. But yeah, I anticipate waiting some time on Monday to get through. I took the day off though (not related to this lol) so I will have time to just let my phone sit on speaker til I get someone!

Dad's lasted I think 2 years, and I'm approaching 14 months with Bro's but it's not looking good. 🤣 I don't have the heart to tell them, but if I have another death I will tell them to get me a fake one. 🥸

Hellooo. I'm busting in and haven't read. It's been a whole week. None of the nanny candidates so far have worked out — feeling super glad I hired someone to do the legwork. My birthday was Wednesday and it was a wonderful day with my family. Then we had a terrible appointment with my little one's endo yesterday >.<
(ETA: not terrible for his health, terrible bc of the terrible health system)
But I scheduled my second vaccine appointment. And today is Friday! Hope you've all had a good week.

We had Dd1's parent teacher conference and it was so positive and she's made so much progress from the fall. They are graduating her from her Student Assistance Team because she has caught up to where she should be 🙌.
She will still get some extra support from her teacher and the EAs but she has come so far even with her social and behavioral skills. And her teacher has figured out some tricks with her to help boost her confidence which is a major thing with her anxiety. I just love her teacher and she has been so amazing with everything.
I am so relieved and feel way more comfortable with our decision to switch her to in person.

notblanche I hope you find someone perfect. FWIW, we interviewed 8 people before we found our nanny and I am so happy we found her. We went through an agency as well. She is so amazing with our babies and feels like part of the family. I hope you find someone like that!
