Oh my goodness cp3 that was chilling how similar it is to our experience. He’s in 2nd grade. The “hate” thing just started maybe a month ago and it is killing me. I’m super sensitive so I hate hearing him say that. You look at him sideways and he’s like “I guess no one wants me here and I should just leave” and I’m like WHAT?? I’m worried about his self esteem and what conversations are in his head because my goodness it doesn’t seem good. Yes it is hard because he will be acting out but then if we would get upset at him he would take it so personal instead of just looking it as the action he did is what I was upset at and not him as a person. He is very sensitive and once he started back in person he was getting in trouble because he was trying so hard to fit in and was doing things he shouldn't be doing so his friends would like him. It's tough. He also struggles with finding his own place with things. Like his dad has very different beliefs about things and my nephew has asked my sister how to know who to listen to because his Dad tells him that appearance and what people think of you is very important but my sister tells him differently and he doesn't know what to believe. I did read that gifted children can struggle with that and finding their identity and how they fit in with the world. This might not relate but I just thought it was interesting how everything ties together and explains a lot of what he struggles with but it's hard dealing with those big emotions and feelings in the mmoment. DS literally just pulled what you described in the first paragraph on his teacher during math partner games. Defiance followed by extreme sensitivity. I don’t think she knew quite what to do with it. Honestly, I don’t either.

At the end of last summer I planted some different colors of cone flower that I’m excited to see this year. And a couple nice clematis to climb the trellis on my chimney.

Oh right, it’s March. Here you all are. 😅
Overzealous gardeners - I have found my people! I have a little greenhouse full of seedlings right now, most of which I’m not sure where they will get planted out. New ones for me this year: licorice mint, Armenian cucumber, Afghan sesame, hibiscus, rhubarb, and purple tomatillo. Plus more cucumbers, tomatoes, and herbs. And in my garden already I have lettuce, radishes, peas, beets, kale, garlic, chard, collards, potatoes, and lots of herbs. Ummm I may have overdone it. 🤣

I shared this on IG the other day. I laughed when you posted it. But that was totally me last spring. It's starting to warm up here and I just told MH today I am really tempted to start gardening but we will still get another freeze or two. We did Roma tomatoes last year that did really well and strawberries that produced but were so tiny. We tried bell peppers but the birds kept eating them. I haven't decided what to do this year but I'm excited. I love seeing everything you plant and I'm jealous of all your gardening space.

I wish I could garden. I kill all the things. Same. I have managed to kill a tomato plant and an agave cactus, both of which I was assured would be near impossible. I dream of a large vegetable garden and fruit trees, but alas.

I shared this on IG the other day. This is me and then in July when my garden is overgrown and I don't have enough hours in the day to weed and tend, I'm always perplexed as to how that happened.

I wish I could garden. I kill all the things. That hasn’t stopped me. I killed rosemary which is supposed to be indestructible.

I asked my mother for a flower subscription for Christmas (where they send a bouquet each month). Instead she bought me one where they send 3 months of live plants. All are dead

I wish I could garden. I kill all the things. Same. And we don’t have a dedicated veggie garden area at the new house, so it would be a lot of extra work to get everything started.. I may just grow a few potted tomato plants on the deck and call it a day this year.

I just bought tickets for Jurassic Park at the drive-in tomorrow night. DS is soooo excited to do something different. I’m also excited because there are going to be food trucks!

H picked up my seeds at the library. The librarian told him to ensure that I knew I was at and beyond my limit for the month. He wasn’t sure if they were being informative or annoyed. I however am overwhelmed as I didn’t think they would let me have this many and was hoping they could fill a few (some showed unavailable). Guess I’m going to need some soil now.

We saw this at a drive in a few months ago. There were lots of people in costumes and Jurassic Park jeeps. Just in case your DS likes dressing up.

At our old house we used to have two raised beds and we’d go plant shopping and DH was always like you know we only have room for like a quarter of these, right? 😂 I’m not a big green thumb, but I am quite proud of an orchid we received in remembrance of FIL’s death almost 2 years ago. It’s still going strong! And for the first time in my orchid experience, it grew new branches that I trained up that bloomed. It’s gorgeous right now.

I love gardening. But do not give me an inside plant as a gift. My mom sent me a bonsai tree for my anniversary in the fall and it’s dead now. It required more care than my children did. I am very survival of the fittest when running my life and choose my house plants accordingly.
My in-laws gave ds sea monkeys for his birthday one year (ds, the nature nerd: AHEM. Mom. They’re brine shrimp.) and I kept those suckers alive for 1.5 years. But again, I have enough things to keep alive thank you very much.

DH was thinking of taking DD1. The food truck line up did look good! My Thursday confession is that my 3 year old has seen and absolutely loves Jurassic Park, so we’re all going. She’s very pro-dinosaur and always roots for the t-rex, be it eating humans or fighting other dinosaurs. I’m so glad that they are doing it again this spring. And the entire ticket cost is donated to charity, which is pretty amazing.

I just don’t think DD2 would enjoy being in the car for the experience/want to leave early. Maybe for Frozen she’d do it. It’s sold out though :/ the website didn’t say sold out, so it tricked me into thinking we still had time to decide.

But whenever we talk about the movie he gets real nervous. I know he'll love it and I'm anxious for him to feel ready. I love that movie so much.

My girls laughed when the cow was fed to velociraptors- weirdos. I remember being so terrified seeing it all for the first time as a kid. But graphics have changed so much and it’s all so obviously fake it didn’t bother them, in the old ones at least.

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies, I can’t wait to show it to my kids. I think the three year old would be fine, but my four year old is much more nervous about scary movies so I’ll wait a few years.

This is a small thing, but it’s been pinging around in my head all day so I’m going to get it out here. DS2 just finished his first week of preschool with speech, OT, and special ed services. His absolute favorite thing is playing with some of his many plastic animals. The little silent dramas can go on for ages, and who knows what is happening. But today he was actually narrating, “dinosaur sad! Oh no, poor dinosaur! Horse butterfly, dinosaur sooo sad.” Such a small thing, but I’ve never heard him do that before, talk when he doesn’t have to and string together ideas. If this is a week in, it gives me such hope for how much progress he could make over time.
A horse butterfly is the winged horse/Pegasus toy my mom gave him. I will never, ever correct him and I hope he calls it that forever 😂
