I was 6 minutes into a 30 min country ride when my internet cut out, so I threw on youtube for another 30ish mins. If anyone needs some super random jams to ride or run to, my account mixed up:
Tracy Chapman: Fast Car (I turned my resistance way up on this one) Pink ft. Nate Ruess: Just Give Me A Reason The Greatest Showman: This Is Me Kenny Chesney: Come Over Calvin Harris ft. Rihanna: This is what you came for Sia: Chandelier Lewis Capaldi: Someone You Loved
It might be because this is the music I like listening to anyway, but I went seriously hard and was dying by the time I got off. I might do that again a few times this week instead of using the peloton app.
Now to keep my diet in check this week 🤞🏼

I got my watch charged and back in action recently. I am motivated by data. The watch insisted I increase my Move/ calorie burn goal this week, and we'll see if I'm up to the challenge. I've been walking and doing spin. But I need to get my food under control.

This might be kind of silly, but a "cheat" I've done for my exercise this month is when I'm out walking, if I wear a mask I breathe just harder enough that it registers on my watch but I don't feel like I'm expending any more effort. So like without a mask, I might register 10 exercise minutes out of my 40 minute walk. If I wear a mask, I'll register 38/39 out of 40 minutes walking at the same pace. I tell myself that has to be giving me some type of cardiovascular benefit.

fatpony Ugh, I’m sorry. Those indoor places are so deceptive. The kids make it all look so easy and my adult body can’t move like their bodies do. Hope you’re on the mend!

I walked two miles this afternoon with a Peloton outdoor audio class. Walking is 💯 my preferred method of exercise, and I’m happy to see that my pace is improving as I walk more.

Ran 6.3 miles in an hour tonight. My longest run in over a year. Not too shabby on the pace, though it's a far cry from my 10k PR pace from 2018. I'll get there though. It felt really good.
I had some cake at school, but otherwise my food was great!

I think my biggest challenge right now is that I’m so, so hungry when I get home. I lose any sense of making good choices and portion size. Normally I’d snack more thoughtout the day. But since we are always in a mask, and we have much less downtime this year, there are no good breaks to eat.
So it goes: Healthy breakfast Healthy lunch Come home and inhale whatever I can get my hands on Not very hungry for dinner. Late evening meal because whatever I ate at 3:45 isn’t going to sustain me all night.
I’ve tried leaving healthier options handy for the afternoon, but they just don’t cut it when I’m that hungry. I don’t know what to try next. My breakfast and lunch are satisfying amounts of food for me, but maybe I should add to them?

snowyowl could you have ready to go healthy snacks you can grab once you’re home from work? Or maybe add some protein to your lunch? I’m still very much a work in progress but these have helped me.

Or I might even suggest making dinner at 4pm if you are that hungry to see if that would work. Don't make it a snack where you feel like you have to eat dinner later- just make it dinner, with a planned small evening snack if you need it.

So far the healthy snacks I’ve planned ahead aren’t cutting it, so I should probably try switching it up. Normally I go for a couple hard boiled eggs, cheese sticks, maybe some crackers. But I’ll eat all those and still be going on to leftover dinner from last night and whatever else I can find. byjove Just planning to have my meal right after school would work in the sense that I need to actually take a plate out and sit down to eat. Currently it’s “I’ll just have a few bites of the spaghetti from last night to tide me over” and instead eat the whole thing out of the Tupperware standing in front of the fridge. That’s just not a mindful way to eat in general.

I got up and did YWA's Yoga for new perspective at 7:30; oooh my muscles are stiff in the morning. Nice to move and shower first thing though.

It might hold off some of the intense hunger if you have it with you and eat before you even get home. Then be able to put together a meal or a different snack without going all out.

I typically drink a premier protein on the way home from work so I can make it until dinner. I buy mine at target and Amazon, and like cinnamon roll, cookies and cream and peanut butter chocolate!

I think what I'd probably try is a healthy snack on my drive home, chug a big glass of water and then check in with myself to see if I'm really still hungry. But yeah also sitting down with a pre portioned amount on a plate and intentional eating is always a good idea for everyone!

Has anyone tried Barre 3's online classes? I've been doing a mix of workouts and am wanting to add a barre class to the mix. Just wondering if anyone had any experience or other barre classes online.
For reference, I'm using Nike training club app, blogilates, and corepower yoga. I started jogging/running again last spring but I'm a wimp when it comes to cold so it'll be a whole before I start that again.

The latte flavored premier protein shake is 👌🏼 Sometimes I’ll run to Starbucks and get a double shot of espresso over ice and mix it with the premier protein - let. Me. Tell. You. It’s so good. 🤤

I do start drinking water as soon as I get home. Being in a mask all day has changed my eating and drinking habits a lot.

I had no idea G Hughes had a sweet chili sauce! I use his hickory BBQ all the time. I'll have to scour my grocery store shelves for this! Thanks!

Does anyone have a rowing machine? I bought a cheap bike to see if I’d keep up with it before committing to a more expensive version. And I have, but I don’t feel like I’m exercising my whole body. Buying a bike that works for spin would fix that, but I’m a little lazy and I’d probably fall back on just regular cycling a lot.
We always had a rowing machine when I was a kid, because my dad was a rower. I remember it being a really good workout, and now I’m seeing ads for pelaton style smart rowing machines.

We do not, but a big part of my husband's job deals with fitness equipment. He will always recommend the Concept 2 rower to anyone who asks. If you search for fitness equipment or at home gym on GD brux had a thread a while back about buying at home fitness equipment and there was a great deal of discussion in it around smart rowers. I can't remember the exact thread title, but if you find it there's a plethora of information in there regarding various rowing machines and the digital platforms to take classes with them.

Motivation/ gardening crossover: 200 bricks and 80 bags of dirt, loaded, unloaded, and stacked in the yard was my exercise today. I'm exhausted, and pulled a muscle in my left arm.
Gardening week is shaping up to be fitness week.

I hope it’s ok if I jump in here. I was quickly overwhelmed with the GD thread. I’ve yo-yo’d my whole life. Five years ago something clicked, and I lost over forty pounds. I’ve gained it all back and more. ☹️ Tracking food is key for me. But I cannot stick with anything lately. I need a kick in the ass.

overboard, welcome to the less scary version of the GD motivation thread 😂! Hi, I also need a kick in the ass about eating. Are you using an app for tracking? I've been bouncing between Carb Manager and MyFitnessPal.

I totally agree with the Concept2. It's pricey, but IMO it's the best one to have for accuracy, consistency and smooth rowing capabilities.

I've definitely been low on motivation lately. My March feels like a bust for me and it's bumming me out. I'm looking forward to starting over fresh for April.
I was so excited to do a long run outside, alone today since my parents can watch my kids. But it's like 25F with 40mph wind gusts and snow flurries. Pretty par for the course for how March has felt for me. Stands to be seen if I'll run outside or not now. I'm so bummed.
