jlaur21 I’m sorry that happened. My coworker didn’t pass out but nearly did after shot 1. She took dose 2 laying down in a more secluded area (like behind curtains) and did much better.

That’s the plan for round 2, and the nurses that were there said they would be there on that day so that helps some too.

I got Pfizer #2 yesterday around 9am. Totally fine all day, my arm wasn't even sore. Last night around 10, the chills and body aches started. My body feels like one big cramp.

I posted this in the Tuesday thread yesterday but I need to word vomit a little. Yesterday, my husband and I got our first dose of Pfizer. When he was a kid he passed out twice after vaccines, but it hasn’t happened since then and he isn’t particularly nervous about needles or anything. We were doing the 15 minute watch after, and he was completely fine and chatting with me, 10 minutes in he started feeling unwell and got on his hands and knees and told me to get help. Once the dr got over there he was completely out and it felt like an eternity (although was not long at all) until he was back. They brought him to a stretcher and made sure his vitals were all good, etc. before we left. Shot number 2, we were told to tell them this happened and he will get it while laying down. It was absolutely terrifying, and brought up some serious PTSD for me. I’m struggling. I am worried for when we have to go back. Logically, I know this happens and that he’s fine. But it’s messing with me. I’m sorry, how scary. I’m glad he was ok and there is a good plan in place for the second shot.

That sounds so scary jlaur21. I’m glad he seems to be doing okay after that and hopefully the precautions they take next time will help.

jlaur21, that really does sound scary - i'm sorry. there were paramedics on site at the clinic i went to for "just in case" situations. i'm glad he's ok. i'd be really nervous about the second shot too but it sounds like they have a good, appropriate plan in place.

jlaur21 I get vasovagal response/reflex syncope after anything having to do with needles, and this sounds just like what I experience. The drop in blood pressure is often delayed, so laying down for a shot, but also continuing to lay down for a bit afterwards, makes a big difference. That sounds very scary, I’m sorry you both went through it, but just knowing this ahead of time and taking the extra step to lay down and not get up and go right after the shot should be all he needs to do. I’m sorry for the extra anxiety it causes!

I’m sorry for the extra anxiety it causes! Thank you for this! I think what surprised both of us was how delayed it was. I was thinking we were in the clear, and then BAM. I’m a re-married widow, so the trauma response in me was super strong. I know it isn’t a big deal and he’s ok, but it scared the daylights out of me.

jlaur21 it’s a scary situation for anybody and coupled with your past it must have been extremely triggering. I’m sorry it turned into such a stressful experience for you and I assume you’ll probably be stressing about it until after his next dose is finished. Luckily it sounds like you were at a medical facility or somewhere that was equipped to handle it. My H and I both got our shots done at different pharmacies and they were so busy with their normal work I don’t think they would’ve even been aware if someone had a reaction during the observation period. It sounds like you have a good plan in place for next time with him laying down. I think the biggest concern if it’s a vasovagal response is falling and getting injured in the fall. I would also make sure your H is hydrating super well in the few days prior and not be dressed too warm at the time because dehydration and heat can make it more likely to happen.

Got my second Pfizer dose around 11am today. I didn’t have anything other than a sore arm and maybe a little tiredness from the first one. My sister didn’t have anything major after her second, so I hope that runs in the family. 😂

jlaur21 I’m sorry that was scary. We had a handful (out of 1600) people have that response Sunday, and even in a building full of medical people it’s nerve wracking.

since i've seen a few people mention brain fog, i'll add my experience here. i hadn't before because it seems a bit OTT. tl;dr i had no idea delayed and severe brain fog was a potential side effect, but it is.
after my second moderna injection, i had the typical fever/chills/general malaise for 36 hours or so. fairly miserable but manageable. a MONTH later, i got out of bed one morning and was really dizzy. that went on for a week or so, then escalated to the craziest brain fog i have ever experienced. it was so long after the vaccine that i didn't even consider that it might be related. the brain fog persisted for 2 weeks, and at one point i was certain i had a brain tumor or something. i could barely function or parent, couldn't make my brain connect dots to do anything good at work, couldn't play board games with H. like my turn would come up and i'd just stare and have no idea what to do. i was sleeping for 12 hours a night and then napping twice a day. it was strange.
long story short, after all the tests and bloodwork to rule out some scary stuff, the neurologist said i'm one of a few young/otherwise healthy patients he's seen with this delayed reaction to the vaccine. it eventually did get better (about 3.5 weeks in total), and i'd still get it if i'd known this could happen. the neurologist said he has so many patients 6+ months into this kind of brain fog after an actual covid infection, so i'll take a couple weeks. i just wish i'd known it might happen.

oceanblue We were at a theatre of all places, but it was run by a local healthcare system so there were a lot of nurses and a doctor ready to assist. They didn’t notice at first but I got their attention quickly!

I had my second shot on CD 3 and my cycle has been so messed up ever since. I've been tracking ovulation with OPKs and had surges on day 19 and then another surge on day 27. Solid lines both times. My "period" started on Day 43 (I usually have 33-35 day cycles). But it was very light bleeding, almost not enough to need anything more than a liner. I usually have extremely heavy periods and have to change my tampon every 2 hours. My period usually lasts five days and I am still spotting 9 days later.
I have never had two LH surges and have never had a light period before. I even took a pregnancy test to make sure I wasn't pregnant. I also always have severe pms symptoms and besides some minor cramping, I've had no symptoms. I'm so frustrated.

Side note: my mom is going through menopause and hasn't had a period in 6 months. AF paid a visit twice last month, about two weeks after she got her second vaccine and then again four weeks after.

I have endo and don't quite understand the connection. Sure! Since endo is inflammatory and vaccines trigger such a big response in your body, it causes inflammation to at least some degree. So if your body is already “primed” for inflammation by something like endo, it can cause a flare up. It’s not a definite thing though- I have stage 1 endo and didn’t notice any effects whatsoever.

Thanks for sharing, I didn't make the connection at the time, but I had an autoimmune flare and increased endo symptoms following my second shot. I was down for sbout a week.

It scared her enough to go to the urgent gyn.

I’m so intrigued by the period anecdotes I’m reading here and elsewhere. I’m two weeks post J&J, and my period is now 2 days late. That’s not totally unusual for me, but it will be interesting to see what this cycle is like.

Second dose of Moderna was yesterday afternoon. Today my arm is tender and I'm feeling a little achy. But the achiness could be from my bootcamp class yesterday too.

The period thing is interesting. Because of my running and diet, my periods are light or non-existent most of the time. This month, though, she came in like a wrecking ball.
