Yeah. It's a tough one. Because it's difficult or near impossible to tell if there's nefarious intent. But meaning/ symbolism evolves over time, and in the context of what's happening today... Idk. I think there's an additional level of care to be taken. I agree with you. Is there a generally acceptable hand signal to use to indicate something is ok, though? Especially now with physical distancing and masks, I've often caught myself starting to use, or actually using, the OK sign to say, well, OK when dealing with a drive through attendant, etc. A thumbs up is my go to!

Are we talking about the okay sign? I'm really angry that it's been taken over by these folks. I'm old and I've used this sign a million times in my life. Yeah. It's a tough one. Because it's difficult or near impossible to tell if there's nefarious intent. But meaning/ symbolism evolves over time, and in the context of what's happening today... Idk. I think there's an additional level of care to be taken. Anyone not paying attention won't know that. So it's yet another game of clueless or an asshole

If that ever gets co-opted by evil people, I'll move to the take-off signal from West Wing

I showed the Lincoln statue tweet to my H, and his guess (emphasis on guess) is that a bust of Churchill has been in the Oval for 40+ years, and Trump removed it for a bust of Lincoln. So maybe just making the way for Churchill to come back? Either way, the optics suck. Yeah, I thought it was just items being returned to whatever storage place they have for all that furniture and whatnot. I thought there was an article or books somewhere that talks about the process of transitioning. ETA: Found the article. It’s the “transfer of families”. www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/local/white-house-transition/

I doubt that is real life but just be aware if you ever text a Real Housewife.

Lol ok it looks bad but it's completely possible it's going down the street to the Smithsonian for cleaning/restoration/whatever. Or Biden chose something else to go where that was. They totally overhaul the Oval for each POTUS and the first family choose artwork for places around the building.

Idk, it seems like the top of the ticket name is often bigger on signage and such but I really don't have science to back that up. Overall, I feel like they've gone out of their way to not treat her like a second fiddle and I really hope that's how it is behind the scenes too. Veep can be a rough job.

I could also legitimately see him stealing it and trying to sell it on ebay because grifters gon' grift.

I am still in skeptical land on two stories:
The one about the capital tours being a reconnaissance thing
That they are taking stuff out of the WH to keep
I need more evidence on both and feel the “reporting” has been feverish.

They're not taking things out of the WH to keep. I'll dig for the tweet if you want, but presidents borrow things from museums to display, and those items are returned at the end of their term. The tours...I think so far the story is a stretch, unless further evidence comes out. Giving tours that people then use nefariously is not the same as "giving recon tours."

Yes to both. The first was frenzied today trying to tie bullhorn lady to a possible attendee to a tour. I don’t agree with it but also was glued to it watching Twitter.

I am prepared to admit my error if I'm wrong here, but I'm side eyeing that blue check self proclaimed YouTube journalist for the highly clickbaity tweet with the Lincoln bust. It feels intentionally vague and like a followers grab. Regarding the "recon tours," the Rep who made the allegation is military and would obviously know much better than I would. With all due respect, however, I need more evidence than, "The people who ignore Covid violated the Covid rules by giving Capitol tours."

Also, a whole lot of people have worked in that building for, you know, 150 years. The fact that outsiders know architectural details and weak points doesn't point immediately to a guided Member tour less than 24 hours before the attack. I'd much sooner suspect someone giving details on their creepy dark web sites.
