They just won't believe it's him, or think it was done under duress, which to be fair, is probably true, lol. “It’s all part of the plan...” 🙄 When he's not inaugurated and stops fighting, I do think a certain percent will turn on their demigod

Illinois peeps: This police reform bill that passed the house last night is getting a lot of play on my Facebook and I can't sort out factual information about it. Any of you have any thoughts?

I've been distracted by impeachment, so hadn't seen much. I think it's a good first step. Especially with the elimination of cash bail. I need to do more research though. I am not shocked that police are against it though

I know some are complaining about unfunded mandates (like body cams on at all times) which as an educator, I'm used to those. And we have a lot of small police forces around here on tight budgets, so I'm sympathetic to that, but I'm just searching for the part the everyone is all upset about.

From what I see, it's the longer certification process. Which is absolutely necessary. They say that it will be easier to fire cops (which good, some don't need to be cops anyways) and the longer training and certification will make it harder to hire them. From what I see, overall, it's a good step. And other professions have longer certification processes and find people joining them just fine. There will be an adjustment period, but I don't see this as an end to policing.

This sounds awesome! I do think the state should help local jurisdictions with funding, if they are going to impose these sweeping reforms on them. But the reforms themselves sound great. This will not eliminate the police. That sounds like a police union talking point.

I don't know how I found this account, but I started following Sharon McMahon (@sharonsaysso) on IG this week and she's been very informative. She is an educator who studied constitutional law and just posts about the facts interspersed with random animal breaks. She also does these stories where she hears from right and left leaning folks about issues which I've appreciated so far. www.instagram.com/sharonsaysso/?hl=en

We have a lot of threads going but I think it maybe goes here that I just saw Biden is thought to be puttin Jaime Harrison in as the next D.N.C. Chair. I was thinking it would be Ms. Abrams so I am kind of surprised. Not disappointed though. I wonder what Stacey wants because I can't imagine Biden and Harris didn't offer her whatever she wanted. Maybe planning on Governor, hopefully! www.nytimes.com/2021/01/14/us/politics/jaime-harrison-dnc-chairman.html

Yay for Jamie Harrison! I wish he would have taken Graham’s seat but I will eagerly await his bigger and better. I wonder what Abrams will do, when does the GA Governor’s term run?
