yes, thank you! First tequila in 2 weeks, I'm breaking dry January this weekend (the 1st anniversary of my brother's death - head pats not expected, but won't be turned away either). 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓

Shall I pass you the crystal goblet? ![](https://media.tenor.com/images/834738cceb9e63282e166c5c1f7c4ae2/tenor.gif) I don't talk to any of them, so I won't see it. But I look forward to hearing about it from my mom. This is pretty much it, just with a gold rim so here you go ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210116/353a295719fff042ed2a02d222e3b0d7.jpg)

There's gotta be an -ism, someone let me know. I hate the stigma that adults who work in fast food, retail, gas stations, grocery stores, etc for some reason should be paid less.. because reasons. For fuck sake if someone is fulfilled doing those things then GOOD. They are critical! This is an even more salient point. There is nothing dishonorable about working in the service industry, or cleaning houses, or picking berries. All work should be compensated fairly and with a wage that is livable.

It’s everyone’s 90000 yr old grandpa who inexplicably gets an IPhone for Christmas from a relative that only visits twice a decade. Grandpa just now learned how to access the cable guide.

When she first came into FB it was when the page post option said "what are you up to" or whatever it was. MILs first post was "Not much, who is this?" 🤣 We still say it regularly.

My grandmother would fight with her church lady friends and post 40 recipes in a row. Or share random pictures that other people post of themselves, like a new profile pic. I miss that lady.

My great aunt types into the post bar like it's a search bar regularly. Almost every Sunday morning she types "xxx church" looking for the stream. If I see it, I just reply with a link to the stream, because Bless her heart. She's also not a united States Senator.

Also, I'm sorry but training programs? Sure, but let's cut the patronizing of the poor. I had a degree, a year of americorps, a year of peace corps, and I was STILL living below the poverty line working full time as a school secretary at a charter school (don't EVEN get me started). Know what would have helped? $15/hour minimum wage. Not more training into a higher paying field. I'm passionate about my career and that was the job I had at the time. Thank god I was able to get into the public school world. But this argument for not raising the minimum wage because it won't break the cycle of poverty is, in a word, bullshit. This is a bit ridiculous to assume that those who are trying to live in on minimum wage do not have trained positions, or that they may have trauma/addiction/emotional and physical health aspects that put them there. in many areas, EMTs make poverty level wages. Especially if they try to have a family on that income. or if the company keeps them below full time so they don't have to give any benefits

The job she interviewed for was offering something like $14/hr. Only 35 hours in order to avoid health benefits. There’s are a lot of careers that pay very shitty even with the right qualifications. See journalism. See teaching. See general office entry level stuff that requires a bachelors at like $11/hr.

It. is. infuriating. And yes, your son should be able to support his family as an EMT and it makes me rage that it's even a struggle. edit: I hope I got the right son there

I finally found a track that can lead to future opportunities and a program that I can pay out of pocket so long as we live lean for a couple years. Everything is broken.

He makes usually $13 an hour unless he goes on a call and then he gets a bonus $1 for that hour. or works overnights and weekends. But he's not full time. Which works out cause he's in school. But he has school 2 days a week, most weeks. so there's days he could work. he's looking at joining the local place giving covid vaccines at $21/hr. But have to see if it will work around his school. And it's only "temporary" But at the rate we are going we will be giving covid vaccines for the next 10 years.
