Fuck that hurts to read. What happens with adults in charge It really did hurt. They have a population of almost 26 million, vs. our 330 million or so. But still, proportionally with our population, we would be 370,000ish cases and 12,600ish deaths... If we had had adults in charge. And people would fucking follow the rules.

Anecdotally, a lot of our people are starting to get their second shots. Who does and does not get sick on the second shot has been interesting. A lot of the people who had a confirmed positive last spring are not having symptoms for the second shot. That gives me hope for some longer term immunity. Is this Pfizer or Moderna (or a mix of both)? I'm behind so perhaps you have answered, ignore me if that's the case. Almost all my coworkers and I got Moderna, and the reactions to the second shot have been pretty bad (no one I have spoken to about it has previously had covid, though). Lots of sick call outs. My coworker went into work and had to leave early because he felt nauseous and like passing out (he isn't one to exaggerate, normally). Most only lasted 24-48 hours, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit nervous. I am already feeling pretty terrible overall, and this will likely just add to that. I scheduled mine for after work next Friday, so I would have the weekend to recover if it's bad. And then my boss that is the only one I know who had the Pfizer vaccine was fine after her second dose, lol.

We live in a blended branch neighborhood, so the people in our circle are attached to like 5 different stations and are getting them at 2-3 different locations. It seems so random. My mom got a migraine that she was over in about 12 hours but her coworker was out terribly sick for three days.

I haven’t really even let myself dream that my kids could be vaccinated by fall. I really hope this becomes a reality. My kid’s oncologist earlier this month mentioned he thought fall seemed like a possible timeframe for kids. I think there’s been so much focus on getting vaccines out that we’ve overlooked the kid side (not necessarily here, but as a nation).

Hey all- i wanted to share this cloth mask made by a textile company in Portugal. If you wanted to get one (adult and kid sizE available) I'd happily ship it to you. These are cloth resuable masks that have been tested to keep 95% of particles from getting through for at least 4 hours at a time and up to 50 washes. mo-online.com/pt/lp-produtos-antimicrobianos/Produto.html

My kids are 10, 8 and 5. I signed up to be notified if there are any relevant trials starting. If the vaccine is safe for elderly adults with preexisting conditions, I feel pretty safe letting my healthy kiddos get it.

So far Rhode Island has not given teachers any priority for vaccines. But McKee, who will replace Gina when she heads to Washington, wants to push us up the line a bit.
Fingers crossed. The state pushed really hard to open schools and keep them open. I’m a healthy 38 year old, and there are plenty of people who should get it before me due to age, or health, or more dangerous working conditions... but it’s a little annoying to have no priority and be behind people who could be just a year or two older than me and working from home.

Double good news for me today- my bff and God sister both in VA, both got their first doses of their vaccines. I'm thrilled for them.

What’s the over under on Kushner and co having sold off some of these missing vaccines? As soon as I first heard there were some missing, that was my first thought. They’re not missing, they were sold.

Just got my first vaccine dose! Fingers crossed for no side effects. (Still better than Covid though!) Day 2 after my vaccine. Had Moderna in my right arm. I knew there would be arm pain, so I'm taking my prior OB's advice for the TDaP - get it in your dominant arm so you get it moving. I typically have no vaccination related side effects, but am having mild side effects with this one. Mostly interrupted sleep - I freeze, then roast, alternating most of the night. Not sure if the fatigue is directly attributable to the vaccine or the poor sleep. Tomato/tomato. Still worth it. I'd do it again. But fingers crossed for an easy second dose. 😂

What’s the over under on Kushner and co having sold off some of these missing vaccines? 100% believe this with the vaccines and probably the ventilators too. Everything was a money making scheme with them. I already recently read a thread about something called project airbridge that was used for ppe and it was full of similar issues. He was part of that too.

I'm getting so frustrated. MIL just shared a video with a bunch of us that is filled with more nonsense and misinformation about the vaccine and treatments (yes including hydroxychloroquine). I told her I'm not going to listen to an orthopedic surgeon talking about debunked treatments on some far right website. She said she was just sharing information and I could do with it what I wanted. Like can we seriously NOT do this again. It's been a damn year, we know so much more about what works for treatments and there's a vaccine already out there. And she's not anti vaccine (FIL is actually scheduled to get his, BIL got one), they wear masks, stay home and do grocery delivery, etc. She knows better. It's like her logical brain is constantly in a fight with the trumpy conspiracy brain and she always let's the trumpy side win online. Just stop.

goldenlove, UGH. I'm sorry - how frustrating. It's scary how cult-like (and then difficult to shake) those beliefs are.

goldenlove your MIL is my mom. The “just sharing so you know” crap drives me nuts. I don’t need to know about all the lies.

Oooh you mean like how my mom shared a story about how more than 70 doctors in the EU came out against the vaccine because it halts puberty in boys?
Do y’all know how many deep breaths I have to take when I talk to them on the phone?

DD was negative again yesterday. I’m torn because of course I would rather my kids not get sick, but it would be nice to at least get it all done at once. School is following cdc that her 14 isolation will start after our 10 days since we can’t isolate from her. 24 days y’all! Plus I think I would have felt half way safe enough to travel home to Iowa for the first time in almost a year and a half in the next month or so while we will had likely immunity. Maybe, I don’t know. Anyway I’ve got an antibody test also scheduled for Tuesday to see if maybe she had it first with no symptoms and that is why she isn’t positive. Or maybe she has superwoman immune system. 🤷🏼♀️

“I’m just sharing information” No you’re spreading dangerous lies. Stop it. I almost said this but tried to be more civil. H was more direct and told her to stop getting information from right wing conspiracy sites and listen to science and facts instead.
