I read an article today that said at the current pace we are receiving vaccine in CA it will take until June to vaccinate 70% of those over 65. I almost fainted. Neither of our parents are in that age group so.... I need all that stuff announced today to work out so we can speed things up out here. My mom is very unhappy about how her county has been handling vaccinations. I guess there was a free for all in Stockton somewhere where they were just vaccinating everyone and not prioritizing. She will turn 65 in April, but she also has stage 4 cancer, so she is really anxious to get the vaccine, especially with my dad still working in the hospital (he did get both doses, at least). Can her doctors help? I swear it’s everyone for themselves up here. It’s a mess.

My mom said her job is bringing in people to give everyone the vaccine. They been doing weekly tests. So that’s good news I think. Also my in-laws for their first dose. I’m hoping the light at the end of the tunnel keeps getting a tad bit bigger each day.

enchanted I'm so with you. I am so fucking done. We've been doing this for over 10 months. That's a lot to ask of people and I can completely understand COVID fatigue and why we as a country are losing our kinds dealing with this.

Thank you for the thoughts that so far, the vaccines have mostly been for healthcare workers and nursing home residents, etc. People already gathered and tracked. Going into the general public and keeping that 1M 1pace is a big challenge. This is good feedback for my facebook responses. 🤣
This might be an UO, but I wish whatever Biden official that is slipping stuff out like, "they left us no plan!" would stop. Or at least clarify there was little plan past step 1a or whatever.
(I am very worried about Dems getting an accurate message out.)

So I know things have moved on, but I just wanted to add that my middle DD has been in virtual K all year, and while not perfect, has really been pretty good. She has been learning and progressing, they did MAP assessments successfully, and her teacher has been awesome. The district is now back to in person for those who choose and so we have had some tears that she can't join her friends, but really it has been fine. Our district has teachers teaching concurrently so we have not had to switch teachers at all. I believe all K classes have an additional paraprofessional, aide, or 2nd teacher in them to assist. I think we will feel more comfortable considering in person once the district gets teachers vaccinated, but this has really been working. Along with a hearty supply of gummy bears.

Listening to Fauci on Rachel Maddow’s show tonight. He said he wouldn’t be surprised if Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine is coming up for approval in about 2 weeks and it’s a single dose vaccine. And he said it was 100M people vaccinated in the first 100 days. I’m not sure if that’s the initial shot or not.

Oof, this is not a good look for Pfizer. I don’t think this is a strictly hate on DT moment though, since Pfizer was able to negotiate this in the EU too. It’s all about $$. Pfizer requested that the vaccine vials be changed from 5 to 6 doses, but 6th dose often not extractable and requires a special needle, which there is a shortage of (hence why those vials had previously said 5 doses). Biden has included those needles in the DPA request (will take time), but this gives Pfizer a loophole to ship less vials and claim the same quantity in the interim.

Huzzah! I hope your family is able to have a fun weekend out of the house. 🙂 Minerva , first stop, playground after lunch If you want to venture a little further from home, the Kennedy Center has a really cool outdoor exhibit along the Reach right now. It's too cold today but I might go tomorrow. www.kennedy-center.org/whats-on/upf/

It will be interesting to see how Swedish media reacts to the new WH Covid response team as one of the members has compared Tegnell to the nazis. Meanwhile, as we prepare to go back to school, a neighboring city banned teachers in all schools — preschool to high school from wearing masks as they are too dangerous. So things are going well in the alternate universe

I’m behind but I am sobbing over this. And I'm so grateful, and in awe, of the hospital staff who helped this couple stay together, despite everything. Even now, despite the never-ending challenge of COVID, those in your profession still care not only for the body's health, but for soul's as well. Thank you.

Friend is home from the hospital! Taking it easy, hopefully she continues to recover.
SIL has filed paperwork and hopefully exH will realize it is for the better to not fight her this time.

A cousin of MH's that is more like an aunt to him is back in the hospital with Covid complications. She got released home with oxygen 8 days ago after receiving monoclonal treatment but is not doing too good at home.
Thankfully our hospitalizations have gone down recently and the hospital she is at has a great covid floor but she has asthma and several other risk factors so everyone is really worried.

I believe Florida just shut down the 'vaccine tourism' loophole they had going. I mean, yes, let's vaccinate as many as possible, but even I don't think we should skip a Florida resident in favor of some tourist visiting from Argentina. thepointsguy.com/news/florida-covid-19-vaccine-rresidency/
