I hate this so much. It makes me so angry. I’m also so angry in general at the vaccine distribution and allocation and all that. Like my parents are 79 & 72. Both high risk with their health issues. In Florida by Ft. Lauderdale. My MIL and her H are in their late 60s- both older than 65 but are significantly less high risk than my parents and by Naples. My parents have no way to get the vaccine bc the Cleveland Clinic hospital they go to got 300 doses for everyone including staff. My MIL and her H got their first dose yesterday bc their drs office is getting 300 doses every couple weeks. It’s so fucked up.

Confession- I have seen two people I know get the vaccine and it it makes me so mad to see them be among the first. One is a PT who has been on multiple trips, has been going out to restaurants about once a week since the summer, has girls nights with 4-5 others regularly, etc. And then posted a vaccine selfie that said "doing my part!" And the other is a school nurse who flew out to Wyoming the day after Christmas for a week long ski vacation and then got covid and got the shot right after she recovered. Also accompanied with a selfie captioned "doing my part to stop the spread!"
Ugh. I know that these are really the people we most want to be vaccinated and ultimately I want as many people as possible to get it, but with the frustration of seeing the roll out, it made me salty to see this.

+1 to annoyed at the rollout. My bff is getting it next week and she’s not high risk but has a sometimes public facing mental health job. Except she’s been able to not be in the field this whole time. So how about those elderly at risk ppl now?

Oooh I have a friend from college whose a dentist and just opened her own practice like in late 2020. She posted a selfie of her and her DH- who is a finance guy- getting their shots. I was like ugh how did YH qualify? And he responds with “I’m a front line worker now 😉”. I was like ????? And she’s like oh since we moved DH is taking time off his job and is helping me in the office so he is a HCW now 😉. He steps in as an assistant if I need it.” Like what? I highly doubt a non dental person is acting as a dental assistant for you. Fucking liars 😡

Because they see almost everybody coming thru the office Oh no I agree and understand that 100%. But I know that they’re just lying bc he is not working in her office as an assistant in any capacity. It just pissed me that they lied to get him a vaccine when there are actual at higher risk people who can’t get one.

This might be an UO but the one thing I keep telling myself about the people cutting the line is that those people were likely not being safe so hopefully it will help keep the spread down.

I think you're probably spot on, although I imagine they're also the people who think the vaccine makes them more/less invincible when we still don't know about transmission rates post vaccine. Like it's great they'll be protected themselves, but what about the spread of disease? There's still so much we don't know.

The whole rollout has been a cluster. I'm hopeful that the new task force can get it more organized. I wish there was some way to keep people from cutting in line. My mom and dad and brothers have all gotten at least their first shot, but my 86 year old grandpa can't get an appointment.

Except she’s been able to not be in the field this whole time. So how about those elderly at risk ppl now? The public mental health workers have been some of the hardest hit. If this helps her get back in person etc. I'm not scandalized. I can't go into my job because it's too risky at this point. They have actually closed the courts down. I'm hoping when im fully vaccinated I will feel more comfortable going back. It's just a place thats really hard to control covid. As far as people getting vaccines there are some obvious ones where you like what but the majority by me have all been frontline workers, teachers, county workers and grocery as well as the old. My H got his because he works with the schools on sports. In NY they are just trying to get as many people vaccinated as soon as possible.

I will say I was very excited to see my BIL get it. He is an essential worker (grocery store), and has health issues. Except for work, he and my sister in law are hermits. They were vaccinated doctors and they had an extra dose that would have had to been tossed and they went up to him and asked if he wanted it.
I can't wait for this vaccine to be more like the flu, where you could just get it.

I read an article today that said at the current pace we are receiving vaccine in CA it will take until June to vaccinate 70% of those over 65. I almost fainted. Neither of our parents are in that age group so.... I need all that stuff announced today to work out so we can speed things up out here. I do not understand the discrepancies (well I mean I do since we are what 4 days into Biden admin), but dh said last week OC thought they would have most of the population vaccinated by that timeframe. I can’t take thinking about a possibility of this summer not happening and especially DD not starting K in the fall! 😭

I’m so lucky that I will be vaccinated by Feb but I need the other people in my life to be vaccinated by the summer or I’m afraid I will lose it. It seems like from what I’ve been trying to figure out that in some parts of CA vaccine supply is now the issue and in some administration resources (staff, space, getting patients scheduled) is more of the issue.

My elderly uncle previously survived lung cancer (but with only one partial lung remaining). Now he has Covid and is in hospice.
He's in Florida and has been one of my top concerns/worries. I'm just heartbroken that a vaccine was presumably very close.

Here people who have had it are not supposed to get the vaccine until all priority groups have it.

I already know we won't have a summer. Current plans don't see me, mh or my kids getting vaccinated any earlier than August. I'm hoping the JnJ vax will help speed things up, but that still is assuming that companies produce and deliver on schedule.

I'm just assuming people in the last category won't be offered any vaccine in Germany until fall at the earliest.
But we had a great summer in the Alps and Italy last year so we'll be doing that again. I'm sure numbers will naturally go down again in the summer and then simply following distancing, masks, etc should be enough. Although obviously everyone is comfortable with different levels of risk.

I'm more optimistic. I think they're going to get it together by late March - that's also when BionTech's new production site is supposed to be up and running. I think they'll approve AZ, J&J, and then hopefully at least CureVac will also get on the market, and the EU has reserved quite a few of those already. So I think the regular population will start getting the vaccine in June or July. Of course it'll take a while for everyone to get it. I'll probably be in Group 3 (there are 3 priority groups and then general population) for pre-existing conditions, and DH is a volunteer firefighter, which is also Group 3. I'm optimistic that we'll get vaccinated by June.

Hamburg school holidays start last week of June and since my family is all general population I'm just not planning on being able to get it. But of course it would be a pleasant surprise if it happened. I think you and your H being in group 3 will definitely make a difference though!
