I finished Normal people yesterday and did not like at all. I had issues reading too because the punctuation when people spoke. Part way through I just started speed reading because I was so done. I will always finish a book now matter how awful. Yes, the punctuation, or really, the lack thereof, was so annoying (as were the characters)! Did not like. So glad it wasn’t just me.

i have only read conversations with friends by rooney. i liked the writing but also felt very put off by lack of punctuation. i could not stand the characters. i had planned to read normal people because i saw they had made it into a series but i just couldn’t bring myself to read anymore from her.
i just finished goodnight beautiful - some good twists but otherwise pretty predictable and not super original. i am finally digging into this tender land by william kent krueger which has been on my holds list forever and i have sent it back several times. i read 150 pages yesterday - the writing is excellent.

Ok, I just finished The Push. Damn. It was really good. I’m not even a mom and I could relate to it. I really like it already in just the 50 pages I've read. I am so excited for tonight to sit on my couch and read.

I’m still getting through The House at Riverton. I like it but it’s slow and nowhere near as gripping at Kate Morton’s other books. I need to finish it though because my hold on Enders Shadow came up so I have that to read next

So apparently I can't wait until this evening to get my next book, so I started reading The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood. She is one of my favorite authors, my favorite of hers being the MaddAddam trilogy, more specifically Oryx and Crake.

The Enola Holmes books are interesting (sometimes a little boring but then bam, a really poignant section) and really well written, but I think the changes they made to the show definitely make it more exciting to watch.

I finished Firefly Lane in anticipation of the Netflix series next week. So I cried and I sped through it and was REALLY invested in the story but still: Kristin Hannah is an author who just straight up uses emotional manipulation in every single book to force a reaction. It's not necessarily a bad thing, I guess, but I've decided she's the equivalent of This Is Us in book form lol. I had to stop reading Nicholas Sparks and Jodi Piquolt years ago for this reason. Though I am not ashamed to admit that the Notebook (book AND movie) will never not hold a special place in my heart, lol. I have Kristen Hannah's newest book, Four Winds, on pre-order.

I don't know how I didn't realize I hadn't read book 3 or 4 yet of the lady sherlock series. damn it lol. I'm already deep into #5 so I will finish it and circle back.
I need to chill putting books on hold. I use the holds as a way to make sure I always have something but the pressure is mounting lol! I need to finish - One by One - Ruth Ware (this weekend) - The Minnesota Lager Queeen (next week)
Thankfully it let me renew Ready Player Two. no more holding books for me for a bit haha.

byjove , that is super exciting! her last one was my absolute fave. It was so, so good. Probably my favorite too, though the Mapping of Love and Death is close (and in some ways really similar). I may read The American Agent a couple more times between now and March

I hate This is Us. The only Kristin Hannah book I loved was The Nightingale. The others were all just meh. I will still watch the Netflix series though!

I did love Jodi Picoult. I had read every one until that one that went backwards. I couldn't stand it and didn't even bother with the last one. What I always loved about her books is the background detail. I felt like I learned something from each of them so I didn't mind the emotional rollercoasters.

We just watched the Enola Holmes movie the other day and enjoyed it so much. I looked up the books but thought I would wait to get them until my kids were a bit older and I could give them as a present. I’m constantly dreaming of the day they are old enough to read on their own and start getting interesting books (even though my six year old son is only interested in Minecraft books at the moment so I might have to pin my hopes on my daughter).

I finished Dogs and Goddesses. It was meh. Too much variation between the different author voices. I liked the character written by Jennifer Crusie (which was unsurprising as she was the reason I read the book) but the other two fell flat.
Then I read the fourth Spindle Cove book which was my favorite so far, although I’ve actually truly enjoyed all of them. I have to say, I’m loving Tessa Dare more than I expected. Enough so that I went ahead and bought her whole Castles Ever After series and am seriously considering her Stud Club trilogy (terrible name though).
Now, I’m going to depress myself and read a book about the Ebola outbreak. Yay. Sometimes I request things from the library because they sound interesting but when they come in I really have to question my decision making.

After struggling to stay focused on reading most of last year due to .... everything... I finally got back into my groove at the end of the year and into January.
Well, last Thursday we got a dog, and now the only thing I can do is pet him and stare at him. I’m so in love. I miss reading, but every time I pick up my book, I look away within a few minutes to see what he is doing, or go lay down with him and pet him.
Ahhhhh

I've actually never read a Jodi Picoult book 😮 I have no idea why - I'm not avoiding them on purpose or anything.
