I can only figure out a chain. I can’t figure out an actual stitch. I quit. lol. take your crochet hook that has a loop on it and stick the hook back into the chain (skip the hole you just pulled off your hook to go into the 2nd one over) then hook onto the loose yarn from the ball just like you do for a chain stitch to pull the yarn thru the hole in the chain, and also pull that same loose yarn thru the loop that was on your hook. repeat into all of the chains you have already made working back the other direction.

Do you have compreasion gloves (not the copper crap, true compression ones)? They were a lifeline when I was pregnant with DS2 and DD, my carpel tunnel was so bad please tell me where to buy some. i need relief but i don’t want to stop crocheting. it’s my hands or my mental health. 😂 I used these. You’ll want to get the sizing right because they are tight and go on the fingers. I would notice a difference a couple hours later with how I could use my hands (it was so bad that i could barely move my fingers, particularly thumb) www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000N4G8IQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Grr. I'm working on the border of the blanket I've been working on and I'm not happy with one of the colors I picked out. I'm going to swing by Joann's to grab a different color, I think.

Square knitting needles help my hands. I don’t know if they make square crochet hooks? But I don’t hold the needles so tightly because the corners make them naturally feel more secure.

They make ergonomic knitting needles? I must investigate this. I moved over to ergonomic crochet hooks and never going back. Do your needles look similar to this hook?

@zweber is there a particular YouTube channel you started with and like? I bought all of the stuff to teach myself a couple of years ago when I was stuck under a nursing baby all the time...and that never happened. I got a little overwhelmed with all of the information and didn’t know where to start.

I got a little overwhelmed with all of the information and didn’t know where to start. there are SO many videos. it’s definitely overwhelming. i didn’t start on youtube. i typed “how to crochet” into google and the first few videos that popped up were what i used. they are painfully slow but they make it so easy to follow. and then i did “how to crochet a baby hat, socks, amigurumi” and once the videos taught me the “language” i could move on to patterns.

I’m starting a ripple afghan for my mom. I just have one ball each of five colors leftover from another project so it will probably just be a small thing. I’ve never tried a ripple/chevron pattern before so it’s mostly for fun. I’ve done the first row three times now because I kept ending up with a weird numbers at the end. Boo.

Ugh starting over again. I get to the end and I’m on a bump, but the pattern is supposed to be on a dip and I just can’t figure out the second row myself.

Okay I finally found a pattern that works except the ends look terrible and I think I’m somehow increasing on the ends so it’s not straight. Oh well. Me neither.

Also why I can't knit socks.

I got a "begin to knit" thing for Christmas. It frightens me. I tried years ago and lost it when I couldn't figure out how to leave a marker. I am a bit of a perfectionist 😬 But I'm going to try! What part of stitch markers trips you up? I thought for the longest time that I had to somehow get a marker ON a stitch. Turns out it's on the needle. Suddenly my world made sense.

It's on the needle?? Welp. That was also my issue 😂 I got so mad. Ha!! Yes, it goes on the needle between stitches and is a LOT easier to accomplish! There's some super fancy lace patterns that call for actual stitches marked. I am not doing those patterns.

Me neither. the only way i can make ends straight is if i legit count every stitch. which is never. put like a paperclip on your first stitch on your chain, when you get to the end of your counting and start to turn, put a paperclip on that stitch. Then when you go back the other way you need to turn when you get to the paperclip. move the paperclip up a row as needed. And then plan on making a border all the way around to clean up the still not straight edges lol.

I’ve hardly ever used stitch markers, unless I’m knitting in the round. I feel like most beginner knitting doesn’t need them?
