Someone was looking for ideas for them to learn to crochet. I found this. Its for teaching kids but there's a YouTube video linked that they said would be good for teaching kids or an adult trying to teach themselves. And it has some good pointers for starting out too. hessunacademy.com/teach-kids-crochet/

@zweber I’m insanely jealous of how fly your new baby is gonna be.
DS asked me for a blanket that I’ve been working on for MONTHS. It’s cute, but is taking me 1000 years to finish because the hook/yarn is too small for a twin sized blanket. I used a baby pattern and didn’t think to size up until too late.

Can someone help me figure out how to crochet a hoop or a loop of some sort? I’ll post a pic below. But basically, I need something to hang dish towels on. But all my kitchen has is these tiny little hooks, and the towels are always slipping off the hooks. I thought if I crocheted some hoops or rings or something, I could hook the loop onto the hook, then loop the towel through the loop like a regular towel rack. But they could go straight into the washer/dryer with the dish towels. Does that make any sense at all? But this would legit be my very first crochet project other than playing around. And I don’t even know the terms to look up what I’m trying to do. Help me!

Like this, but literally just the circle part, and not attached to the towel.

Sorry, make two of the same item. For each item- make a chain, join to make a circle, and then stitch around a few times (i’d do an increase every few stitches) to make a donut shape. Make a second one. You stitch them together and can even stuff to make it hold a circle shape. That will give you the circle loop. The rest would be a basic rectangle strip that you sew on to the circle shape you made

just fixing to post this exact link. I've used a hair elastic loop thingy, (wtf are they called lol) and you make a starter loop on your crochet hook and then alternate makin a chain by going under the elastic loop and then under the elastic loop until you go all the way around then make a double crochet all the way around and make a chain loop to hang on a knob clear as mud, right?

Ok. So if I did the first part, where she does it around the hair band. Then get a second color and do what she does for the border. Then I would have a ruffle loop. And I could put it around my towel, use it to hang on the hook, and wash and dry with the regular towels. Eh?

@zweber I’m sure I won’t be able to figure it out. I haven’t even been able to decide which crochet hook or yarn I want to order. I am the lease decisive person in the entire world. You are the most precious doll.
