Girl Scout cookie sales started today. I got up, took pictures of Evie's flyer, posted them to my FB page for friends and family to see. One of our old neighbors, who is her troops cookie mom, used my pictures on her post. Then messaged me and told me I didn't have to collect money up front, blah blah. I'm way more annoyed by it than I should be, I know...but damn, take your own pictures since you're such a know it all at this.

I even asked her if her flyer was wrinkled too, thinking she'd admit she used my pictures...nope, said her flyer was great. Well, look at your pictures, they oddly look exactly like mine.

So I guess I'm petty today.

And I hope my kid kicks her kids ass in sales.

This is also the same person who not once, but twice, has told me her daughter's daycare is closed until the end of the year due to Covid and she doesn't have anyone to watch her while they're on holiday break. I told her she should look for a HS student who is out on break, to come to their house. I think she wants me to volunteer to take her, but her kid is a brat who doesn't listen, so nope. Not watching someone elses kid the 2 weeks I'm 'off work.'

A nice quiet day on the calendar here. We had a crazy rainstorm come thru yesterday with thunder and lightning; felt like summer minus the 50 degree temps! Thankfully today is clear and sunny.

My next door neighbor is a pulmonologist and got her Covid vaccine this morning (not to be confused with the tequila shot 'vaccines' she was passing out at Halloween  ) Seeing all those trucks rolling out makes me feel optimistic.

I really need to get up and motivated and go clean my house...the sun is hitting the floors *just right* and it's not pretty.

My day is insane at least I’m WFH today so I can get more work done.

It’s snowing here but it’s that damp wet snow that isn’t a lot of fun and difficult to shovel. Cs school is closed and we are distance learning but I ran into his teacher on my walk yesterday and she said not to worry about the assignments and wants kids to have a break. She said if he does the two zooms, that’s good enough. I will have him do a couple though. His big assignment for the day is to build a snowman and take a picture. I think we can handle that.

wedding I want to see the snowman too! We rarely get snow wet enough here to build one.

That and I don't like to be in the cold long enough to build one!

She does have a webpage for non-locals, or people who want cookies immediately, can order through, via ABC Smart Cookies.  I need to figure out her link and post it on FB.

Morning. Home schooling again. I made drawing on the window with a chalk marker. I used a stencil, I’m not the best at drawing, they turned out so cute!

Dh took the kids to the dunes to blow of some steam, so I’m on the couch watching ‘A Christmas in Tennessee’, so far I like it.

In order to support locals I just ordered 45 canapés from a local tea house that has the best English/high teas for Christmas day. I now have to make next to nothing for my inlaws brunch & did a good deed at the same time!

I'm at the office today. It's been like 6 weeks. So crazy what a difference 2 big ass monitors makes, although I left my glasses at home. Whoops. I have to leave early to pick M up from school. Sorry coworkers.

That is weird. Maybe email her to make sure? Our room mom usually handles the party stuff.

We all sent money and the supplies in to the school for the kids to make gingerbread houses and now they won’t get to have their party because they are virtual these last two days.

Morning.

M2 is at school and M and I are home. His teacher posted all the work they have to do for the 4 days of DL, so I will have him work on at least half today. If we can get it all done by tomorrow, he only has to o the teams meeting next Monday and Tuesday.

More cleaning and purging for me. I may get a holiday movie in, too.

Not necessarily. C's party was covered this year...they brought their own lunches but teacher/school provided supplies for cookie decorating, etc.

B's having a weeklong party, lol...every day there's something different, but it works in with their lessons. His teacher asked for a $5 donation to offset costs.

Anecdote: I'm really relieved my girls have never asked about Scouts. I was a GS for about a year and it sucked. Our leader was horrible and really lazy. I remember when I graduated from being a Brownie and was supposed to then get the green GS uniform. I was tall (but not, that tall) and the only thing they had to offer that fit me was a leotard. I remember trying it on in the bathroom and thinking fuck that if they expected me just to walk around in a leotard and nothing else. That's when I quit. I thought if you can't even offer me pants there's a problem here.

Yes! I texted DH yesterday and said over Xmas break I am going to purge the kitchen and his desk of 'paper clutter'. Stuff seems to build up so fast. See also: kids' toys. 

Maybe I will turn on a movie and get started.

inthekitty, wtf? not cool. Now parents buy the vests. They can buy the rest of the outfit too, but only the vest or sash are really required. I think. Hopefully the entire outfit isn't required cause Cadence would probably not be into it at all at that point either.

That's ridiculous about the uniform. Like, how could that possibly be OK??

I did one year of Brownies and it was not for me. 

DH did Scouts and loved it...made Eagle Scout, his dad was a troop leader, the whole bit. I would be fine with B participating if DH will take the lead. GSA, I can happily pass on.

MIL worked for GSA HQ and while she loves the organization, I think it was an eye-opener in some ways. It's *so* troop dependent and she oversaw some real dips*t leaders (pardon my French, lol).

Nothing too exciting here today. Just work. I'm glad it's from home though. Yesterday it took me an hour and my coworker who lives a little further away than me 2 hours to get into the office due to an accident. The freeway here is always a cluster. Should have been about 20 minutes.

flamingo , exactly. I think you're at the mercy of your leader. Mine was...not good. One of my former coworker's sons are in Scouts. They are teenagers so they do the real stuff now and every time he posts a picture of being in a snow cave they dug to sleep in during the night I think nope, nope, nope. For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would ever want to do that.

Not really. I’m dd class mom. We had to rearrange all celebrations from Friday to last Tuesday, I just called the parents that previously said they’d bake something (3/4 parents) and that was it, the teacher did the rest. So it’s probably covered!

Lol. H just offered to pay me money to let him watch a show. Man, this kid needs to get out of the house! They watched a bit of tv already this morning, and now N is doing school work and I’ve done an experiment and played guess who with H. I’m so sick of him sulking around and complaining all. The. Time. And I think i need to be more strict with screen time.

Meanwhile, I think L has a stomach bug or something because he’s been pooping so much and extra clingy the past few days.

I was in GS in elementary school. It was great socially, I was friends with all the girls all through school. And Evie it has really helped Evie socially as well. But her troop leader is great and very interactive.
