What I learned in today's retirement seminar:
1) I can't retire for 23 more years (age 60)
2) MH will be eligible to retire in 7 years.

One of my employees and friends husband fell off their roof this morning. He had to be air lifted to the hospital. He's got several broken bones, had 1 surgery already and will have another tomorrow. MH is constantly doing things like cleaning the gutters without proper safety equipment. After this I told him he's not allowed to do that anymore. It's sad that it takes something happening to someone you know to give that wake up call.

vino I'm so sorry. Yes, we call it Grandpa's Garden because there are so many pretty flowers. All the flowers make it easier for Grandpa to see us from heaven. We're taking cupcakes next month for his birthday. I hope you are able to remember the best of him today. I feel like we're too young for so many of us to have lost a parent All the love vino and klong11I hope we're all doing excellent saving so that we all may have very long retirement ❤ This is where I'm at. My Dad did everything 'right' had all types of savings, lived comfortably, made retirement plans a died when he was 59. So while I'll be doing what i need to set aside i'm also not opposed to a little higher spending for joy now.

I'm sure they do some flexible arrangements because one of my friends who worked there got to WAH sometimes, but I doubt there are many that are 100% home based though. They get like 11 paid holidays and tons of PTO. Plus, pension. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How is it almost 4 already? Today has flown by but I was at least able to get a little nap in with the kids. Dh left last night until Sunday. And of course we were fighting when he left because he just had to leave a half hour before bedtime even tho that was not he plan. I was not impressed. But I have a sitter coming tonight so I can go out for drinks with my volleyball team since we haven't gotten together since spring so I'm looking forward to that

peachsmama Don't you also have a coworker that flags everything as important? Or was that someone else?

My parents should really divorce each other but they don't have enough retirement saved up for two households. The only way it could work is if one of us had my mom move in with us. Not it!

A coworker (lived in Australia at the time, but we worked together in the UK briefly years before) died just a few years ago from a fall. He had young kids and was taking down Christmas lights.

I hope his surgeries go well. I don't think there is the same WFH opportunity (they kind of skirted around my question), but I got the sense there was flexibility. The supervisor of the position made a comment like- I don't need to physically see a person everyday to know they are getting their job done.

My child is such a creature of habit. Lately she has been super into this magnet board at day care with square letter magnets. They moved it to a different room yesterday for an activity and didn't put it back. So today at drop off she walks in and goes straight to where it usually sits , spun around looking for it, then shouted "oh no!" And buried her head in my legs crying. When I picked her up this afternoon the board was back in place and she was happily playing with the letters.

Chase just walked from our family room, through the hall and into the living room. Apparently he's given up pretending not to know how to walk.

Anyone have any advice on how I can drop the night time and naptime bottle for Charlie? He uses the munchkin 360s during the day, but he will scream bloody murder if he goes to bed (even exhausted) without a bottle. The only thing I've tried doing is giving him his nighttime drink before hand in a munchkin cup, and he absolutely refuses it. Is this something I just have to cut cold turkey and simply deal with all the yelling?

I think watering it down slowly is the way until its all water is what people have suggested before guster. B had 4oz of milk in the bottle every single morning until he was about 2.5yo, so I may not have the best advice. Is there a reason you want him to be done?

Josie was done a little after her first birthday, and the pediatrician advises the same. It's clearly just a comfort for him, not a nutritional need. I wonder if it would do the same thing if I simply lowered the amount of milk in the bottle instead of water..

guster Is it the bottle you want to get rid of or the milk? If it's the bottle I'd go cold turkey in place of a sippy. If it's the milk I'd gradually decrease.

I was standing in the bathroom watching DH bathe B. Glanced down and there is C at my feet, up on hands and knees. She had been about 10' away in the middle of her bedroom playing. BOTH MY KIDS ARE MOBILE.
