Enjoy your half day wedding. I'm looking forward to going back to work so I can take a day off...haha Ugh snoopmommymom I'm sorry your having a rough time with Z, she seems like a little firecracker 😉 lfig I went to a retirement seminar years ago and it was awesome. It was the beginning of my budgeting and money awareness for sure, it's nice to have a plan even if it is years away.

lfig, your H is an LEO right? So is he subject to mandatory retirement at 57? We need to start looking at retirement as well. My plan for this job is any raise automatically goes into my TSP but DH needs to work on maxing his as well.

Never to early to think about it. We had a customer come in for advice last week because he's 3 years from retirement and only has 42K in a 401K. They said they just never really paid attention to how much they were contributing and assumed it would be enough. Sounds like he's not 3 years away from retirement then. Thats what we had to tell him. They were.. not happy.

Morning. I'm so tired all I want to do is cry and sleep. But I'm in the office, so that isn't an option. Dh and I had a bit off a spat this morning (doesn't happen often) and both our strategy is to be silent, not the most helpful. We're fine now, we could direct our frustration towards each other to joined frustration towards my MIL. She wanted ds to go to a psychologist because he threw a fit about not wanting to go to a theatre (he's a little scared) and we needed to 'push trough' with this issue... we've learned to pick our battles lady. Dd still has a fever. I need this day to be done. What? I could just see that meeting with the psychiatrist. Hi... My toddler acted like a toddler. Should I be concerned?

Tip: if you preface a FB post with "I'm only bragging a little, but..." -- you're bragging and it's obnoxious. :Eye roll: Time to unfollow! Live the dream!

So we are about to test a theory and if it's correct our central communications radios on the console will go down. I don't know if I want the theory to be right or not. We've been having problems and they think this is the cause

Sounds like he's not 3 years away from retirement then. Thats what we had to tell him. They were.. not happy. Reminds me of the meme making the rounds about needing to work up until lunch the day of your funeral. Morning, all! I'm waiting for anyone else to show up for this 10am meeting. Yes, it's 20 past. I have to leave early, so I'm not liking our chances of getting a lot done. Oh well. We had strong storms roll through early this morning. Such a nice sound to wake up to. But it's humid, and my hair, yo. I know I mentioned my job possibility a few weeks ago. We're ironing out the final details (title, full overview of responsibilities, days on campus, etc.), but it looks like my first recommendation is going to be to fire the principal, or at least start planning his going away party for next spring. Nothing like hitting the ground running! Hope you're all well. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

And took out a home equity loan to do a remodel. This is my parents, except a lot of their refi activity (and inability to build any true savings) was to bail out my sister. They sold their house after 34+ years for about $150K, and my Mom refers to the proceeds as their nest egg. They did not own that house outright. They plan to move to FL in a few years and truly retire, and I have no clue what kind of fantasy world they are living in.

flamingo As wedding mentioned, LE in govt service has a mandatory retirement at 57. He likely won't stay that long. He's 39. Started with the govt at 18, and been LE since 21. He keeps saying he will do 10 more years. But most likely when he does "retire" he will go to the academy in GA and teach as a contract employee. He has always put 15% into his TSP so it's looking pretty good. But I got a late start in govt service so I was 30 when I started 7 years ago. So I have a ways to go still. Although I do have more than peachsmama'S customer in my TSP. Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My parents have no retirement except what my mom has accumulated in the last 7-8 years of nursing. My dad has always been a sub contractor and doesn't contribute to anything for retirement. They put 25% of my moms check and all her bonuses and stock options into retirement to make up for lost time. And the side business my dad just recently started he's hoping if he gets enough drivers, this will be his retirement plan. He can run it from his home office and live off it. I hope it pans out. Otherwise idk what they'll do.

lfig that all sounds good. I was just curious. DH has another 7 til he has 20 years under his belt, and he'll retire at that time, or within a year or so afterwards, and go into the private sector. He'll be 42ish. It's scary but exciting to think about--I'll be so glad to (hopefully) be done with the moving around.

My Dad made sure I was contributing appropriately as soon as I could to my retirement. I have a nice little nest egg already and I now have a fascination with investing. I love researching my options. I'm a nerd.

cagoldi hugs for yesterday lady. Not much here today. Gym and then I may go Paint at the new house... or I may take a nap! I already feel tired so nap and the couch may win! I'm so glad dh is good with money and works in finance. I am ... not good... with Money. He has already saved an nice chunk into our 401K, and he is very cautious to make sure we always have savings set aside.

We have a customer that has a rocky second marriage. Every time things are not so good he comes in to change his beneficiary from his new wife to his daughter. It's a substantial amount of money. I've been in this position a year and I've processed the change 4 times I think.

One of the reasons I'm getting a job is to put more away for retirement. I don't think we are contributing enough. My future salary will go to day care and retirement.

Morning all.
Shitty day here. ***TW***
Today is the 4 year anniversary of my Dad's passing. I hate everyday but mostly today. B woke up this morning telling me that he told Gido in his sleep that he loves him. He also asked if he could un-die so he could give him a big hug. Then we both had a little cry.
Blah.

peachsmama Yea the amusement park trip was canceled due to the rain. tgrimes Mine is coming every 21 days too since I stopped bf'ing. It sucks! I am still BF, but mine has been weird too. I used to be 26 days like clockwork. Every once in a while 27. Last month it was 22 days and this month, 28 days. I know most people aren't as perfectly regular, but I hate not being able to plan. Also, I EBF both kids. With S I got it back after 4 months, and with B, just shy of 5 months. I'm so jealous of those that don't get it for a year!
