tallb I mentioned before that we don’t have a gaming system. S doesn’t have a tablet but uses mine a lot. A bunch of his friends have the switch and he’s been asking for it since his last birthday. We were a bit conflicted about it but after realizing we will probably be home most of the winter we decided to do it. I like that he can play it with his friends too so he can be social, but from home He also got a ton of Pokémon related things (cards, balls, binders, etc). He can sit in his room for hours organizing those cards. He has a few big LEGO sets on his list and my mom asked for one big present so I’ll send one of those to her.

Is j the only one without a tablet or gaming system? We are toying with getting a nintendo switch console. I was 7 when I got my nintendo...but I also wasn't on zoom school all day. Should I do this or will I regret this? He's also getting an RV lego set from Costco (very into RVs lately). And not sure what else yet.. he mentioned bey blades but I'm hoping to avoid that.. especially since he's not playing with anyone really and I really don't want to have to play that.. No kids tablets or gaming systems here yet. We briefly discussed a Switch but I’m trying to hold off on that type thing as long as possible, so it’s not on the agenda for this year. I think B’s big Santa gift is going to be an air hockey table (not the arcade size!)

tallb no tablet or gaming system here. We have a very old laptop and will sometimes watch YouTube on tv. Dh and both do have work laptops, that we’d normally hardly ever use, but now more than ever off course. Kids are in a computer/tech free school until 4th grade, which is different from a lot of school I guess. Still chalk boards in class rooms 😉!

I remember B’s pre-K teacher telling me she had the classroom computers removed from her room when she noticed the kids were lagging in fine motor skills. She nixed the computer station in favor of stuff like LEGO’s, etc. and started seeing improvements.

C does not have a gaming system. He has an old iPad that has a couple of games. I’m holding off as long as possible on a gaming system because he gets too zoned and obsessive. He has a great imagination and needs to get physical energy out so I’m trying to avoid extra screen time.

I wouldn't say Evie has a gaming system, because I have our old Wii and Nintendo (yes, old school) out. I got them out when we started staying home, to give her something different to do.
She has asked for a Switch, but damn, those things are expensive. I just don't think she would play with it enough to justify the cost.

We do not have a gaming system. The only thing that might come close is an old Wii we have from about 12 years ago. We set it up maybe twice a year but the only games they play on it are wii sports and sometimes Mario kart. We have what I guess would be considered house iPads and iPhones. They’re dressed in protective kids gear, and not accessible to them, but when we do dole them out they are mainly used to watch TV if we’re traveling, read books, or to play either coding games or the games on PBS Kids. No roblox or Minecraft yet over here. I don’t think I’m against gaming systems but there hasn’t been very much interest in them just yet. We actually decided against a tablet for Josie for her birthday and instead just put the Kindle app on the iPads in case she’s looking for something in particular that we can’t get in hardcopy.

No gaming systems over here, they play some games on the ipad but I try and limit it. MH was looking at the Switch and I think my two are a little too young, B would probably be fine but leaving Julia out is not an option so we'll wait. MH was looking at the Super NES that has preloaded games in the system but apparently they arent available or sold out, IDK, he found one on eBay but I dont trust buying from there so we'll probably hold off.

That's what we thought to about N being way too young. When we got ours, we were the younger kids, not the oldest. Makes me feel better about waiting a bit.. maybe we can find a game to play on mh's PS4 together occasionally if he asks.

we have more than one gaming system. Cadence ignores them. Mh also has a racing arcade game and a standing arcade game that has various games. Cadence enjoys those more, but mostly watches mh play. She has her tablet, which is the bane of my existence. She watches youtube videos of annoying people who can't seem to speak at a normal tone or volume. She has downloaded a few games, mostly hatch these eggs and care for whatever comes out of it types of games and can you style the hair like it is in the picture. She has some game where you put makeup on a cat or something, but she realized you don't get much in the free version and lost interest in it fairly quickly.

In regard to dollhouses: we have the LOL one and one that looks like Cinderella's castle. Both are huge. Cadence still prefers to bring random doll furniture or just random items to pretend to be furniture and spread it all over her gymnastics mat in the living room to create her own doll house. I like that she is so imaginative, I just wish I would have known said preferences before purchasing the dollhouses. She is now asking for the same exact LOL dollhouse she already has, but it has come out in a new neon color scheme.

We haven’t bought a gaming system specifically for the kids but DH has like 6. He only has kid appropriate games for the N64, Dreamcast and sega. She plays a few games on the N64 but her interest comes and goes. Both girls have their own kindles and play games on there.

I tried to find the exact ones on amazon for you, but couldn’t find them sorry (I think it’s a European brand).

Headbanz, if you've watched a lot of Disney movies then Color Brain Disney edition is fun, Disney Eye Found It is also fun and can be played as a co-op game or against each other, Yeti in my Spaghetti, Go Fish game(not the card game, but the fish pond that rotates around and you try to catch the fish), Pancake Pile-Up, Sneaky Snacky Squirrel, and really any of the Peaceable Kingdom games
Don't get Operation Pet Scan. It isn't as fun as regular Operation.

L loves the nightmare before Christmas operation game. I may get this one or the Rudolph one for Cadence to have at Grandma's. They both LOVE playing Operation together.

We have a version of headbanz and although very fun, I will say Dd (4y4m) will often spill the beans before we even start... snakes and laders is a good one too.

B isn't into games yet, but at that age, S was obsessed with chutes and ladders. We have a superhero version, and I think they make a princess one and a few others. We also got Bugs in the Kitchen during the quarantine phase of covid when I was just buying stuff and it's actually pretty cute. It might be a little old for her, but B likes playing along with S and I when we play.

And we have a cute Operation that is Cars themed (so instead of operating they are removing the parts of the engine). They love that.

I should have read through the thread before responding lol
We also play UNO a lot. S discovered Chess too (obv not for a 4 year old, but maybe for C or someone else). Also + whatever to Guess Who - we have the Star Wars version.
We also have a Blokus game which is too hard with the regular rules for B but he likes to use the colors to build things. S likes to play it the proper way.

guster S is already pretty good at it. I got him on of those all in one board game things last year with chess, backgammon, checkers, etc and he asked to learn in. I had to read through the instructions to teach him but he got it. Every so often I just have to ask him if he’s sure he wants to make a move but he is pretty strategic. I think I learned chess in college lol.

For board games we have : Guess Who, Operation, I Spy, yeti in my spaghetti, don’t break the ice, greedy granny and candyland. I’d say “guess who” and candyland are the most played.
We don’t have any gaming systems but we do have a kids’ iPad that they have to share. My SIL has Switch at her house and since they go over there fairly often, I don’t think I need to get them one here. It’s a special treat they can look forward to when they visit their aunt.
