M also tells me that blading is easier than roller skating. Same. My kids roller blade around our house alot. We also got a hover board. My neighbor stuck one out with a free sign and I snatched it. A and I play on it more than the kids lol. Those things are hard!

Those things are hard! I saw the SC of YH on it. I couldn't stop laughing. It took me five minutes to be able to talk. I kept rewatching and dying all over. he was unamused. Then He was so pissed because he was grilling dinner and I'm like oh I'll take it in. Then tried it and fell inside without him to witness it lol.

M also tells me that blading is easier than roller skating. Good to know. I bought both kids these skates this summer, maybe I should switch it out to the blades. H started hockey so that would be good practice

So far C has received and liked -Mewtwo T-shirt - large bakugan -bakugan battle arena -shark tooth dig kit -patriots jersey (Edelman) -lightweight cat and jack jacket He did not like the khakis and fancy sweater great grandfather gave him but was gracious (which has been an issue in the past) The shark tooth dig set was a lot of fun. Some reviewers mentioned broken or missing teeth so I was a bit worried but we found them all and it occupied him for a good while. $12.99 on Amazon

wedding, first, he looks really adorable in that picture. Second, we used the dinosaur fossil kit by the same company this spring, and it was a super big hit for anyone who has a dinosaur living kiddo.

wedding , he does look adorable...and it's really (oddly) comforting for me to know he's over his Tom Brady kick.

I cross-posted this on the Prime Day thread on GD, but does anyone have any thoughts on Osmo Genius Starter kit for $98? Is it still age-appropriate or would our kids be getting bored with it now?

We have osmo. How early, she got it for Christmas last year and hasn't touched it since then. I need to get it out again to see if she is more interested. She enjoyed the tangrams game the most, plus the Frozen one my brother got her.

You can find a better deal if you decide to get it. I think I paid 70-75 last year in August. That said, m hasn’t played with his much. I need to make it a point to tell him to get it out. M2 may be into it by now. I’m sure the older/other games they may be able to enjoy more.

She barely touches it but maybe we’re not buying engaging enough games. 🤷🏻♀️

inthekitty, I feel like there is so much out there with video games and other games that the OSMO isn't really necessary. I almost bought it a few times but it just never seemed worth it to me

So through all the Target deals I finished am basically done with hanukah and birthday! I need to get a few more things for S since he has both. But B is basically done. Maybe 1 more thing.
And I did some shopping calculus and split my carts in order to get the most deals.

OOOOH - S is interested in chapter books. but he's not really ready for the bigger ones, or the ones with not that many pictures (we have a bunch of magic treehouse books, but he's not there yet). any suggestions? I'm thinking 40-80 pages - maybe 3-6 chapters. He recently read the Dinosaur Detective series and that was the perfect level for him.

The comic book style ones might be a good in between (Dog Man, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Captain Underpants). I recently ordered My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish (good deal on Amazon for a 3 pack). Can't speak to it yet since it hasn't arrived. I keep seeing the InvestiGators and have been thinking of trying out those with the kids.

Thanks for the Osmo info. I think I'll pass then unless she is persistent about it. It doesn't sound like it's a can't miss deal at this point.
P.S.
I really love Tangram puzzles.

This isn't really a 7th birthday question, per se, but it is gift-related.
Does anyone here have the Barbie dream house? If so, did you pay the standard $175-180 that I typically see it for? Or will there be a better deal closer to the holidays?

I never saw the Barbie one go on sale but I managed to get the Kidkraft one for like $115 at Target closer to the holidays and Lue LOOOOVESSS it! www.kidkraft.com/us_en/grand-view-mansion-dollhouse-65954.html

Thanks, I’ll check it out! My nieces are getting the actual Barbie Dreamhouse this weekend for their birthdays. I'll ask my sister what she paid and see what she thinks of it once they get it together!

I think we paid around $100 for it, either on black friday or some other special because I would not have paid what you have for the standard. Evie didn't play with it much when we first got it, but she's definitely using it much more now. Probably because I work in her play room. This is the one we have, with the elevator on the side. She just happened to be playing with barbies right now!

Holy cow, that thing is giant mwhip . I read the measurements online and was going to go plot it out in her room but wow to seeing it in person! Thank you for posting the pic. C has been asking for it for awhile; I looked at the smaller one (Malibu house?) but the reviews were very mixed. Hmmm.

Ok. I figured out his birthday gifts. We got him the map of Neverland, Jack skellington pajamas, and some magic treehouse books.

N is getting a kid kraft one.. it was $50 around prime day - seems to be narrower but also big enough for barbies: www.target.com/p/kidkraft-vintage-luxe-dottie-dollhouse/-/A-53277186We are very short on space so mh was eye rolling this, but N commented on a big dollhouse she saw in a classmate's house on zoom😂

Is j the only one without a tablet or gaming system? We are toying with getting a nintendo switch console. I was 7 when I got my nintendo...but I also wasn't on zoom school all day. Should I do this or will I regret this?
He's also getting an RV lego set from Costco (very into RVs lately). And not sure what else yet.. he mentioned bey blades but I'm hoping to avoid that.. especially since he's not playing with anyone really and I really don't want to have to play that..
