She said she plans to keep doing it. She purposefully ignored calls from the school all day. And she may end up getting her way now because the school apparently is working with her to see if they can get a 504 and iep for the kids. Which, if they do need those, then there is a way to go about getting them that isn't abandoning your kids at the school when they aren't supposed to be there. She seems like a real treat. We are all struggling. The entitlement blows my mind. If they need those then she needs to go about getting them in the appropriate manner. Otherwise the school should tell her that her kid is now full time virtual until she's willing to follow the same rules as literally EVERYONE ELSE. That's crazy! How is she planning tog et a 504? Do they have a disability? I can't stand entitled people like that. I really feel for parents of kids with special needs. We are starting to allow kids with special needs to come back Monday to Thursday in a couple of weeks as a phase in process and I know it has made so many people happy.

Hoping it’s a negative result piratecat. Isn’t it shitty that we hope we have colds nowadays?! I’m glad your EKG was normal.

I counted 5 parents without masks at pickup today, and this is just for grades K and 1.
I have never seen this before and I wanted to shout “if you don’t want to use a mask feel free to stop using public school.”

I almost feel like the school is just trying to make it go away. Apparently one of her children's reading score dropped by a lot. BUT she flat out refused to do any of the virtual learning in the spring. She refuses to let her kids use any electronics so they can't do any of the virtual work. The school provided hard copies of the work and she refused to do it with them because she pays taxes and its not her job to teach them. She's been trying to demand the school send her a tutor to teach the kids on virtual days. She tells her kids not to wear masks including in school where it is mandated. She has been kicked out of several of the local Facebook groups for being nuts. I cannot stand people like her.

Sometimes even the school isn’t ok with people like that lady, but if the complaints department above says please make this lady be quiet, you get no choice. The media attention suggests this is likely.

Regarding testing for minor symptoms, I wanted to share my thoughts, xp from the politics board:
Well, this sucks. My husband and I tested on Weds for some very minor symptoms to be sure (runny nose, achy), and we are both positive. I can't believe it. It's made me realize how easily this can spread, because in a normal year I wouldn't have hesitated to go to work, even hop on an airplane. No fever, etc. Hopefully we stay this way.
The kids have been mostly fine. My 5 year old had a runny nose and was tired enough to nap on Sunday. That's it. I can't believe it. Their pedi just said to quarantine them with us.
So my recommendation is PLEASE TEST for minor symptoms. I'm so glad we found out, hopefully we haven't spread it because we've been pretty cautious. I have no idea where we could've got it from.
ETA we are both working remotely, Kindergartener is elearning at home. My twins are in daycare but no one is sick there. They are all testing to be sure. The only other exposure we had in the time period was Target or Aldi (masked). I'm at a loss.

The one bit of good news this morning was my boss saying there is still no indication of bringing us back into the office. I'm fine to stay like this indefinitely, as much as I hated WFH initially.

This worries me a bit because my kids both woke with runny noses and no other symptoms yesterday, so we kept them from school just out of precaution. I wasn’t going to call for testing because I know my county requires a dr referral and they don’t had them out easily. But maybe I will call the kaiser nurse line in case

@idubhawksfan, good luck. I don't want to make anyone alarmed but I am still just shocked! As much as we've all complained about being locked down, it really is so good... if I were working at the office, I could've exposed 100+ more families, plus the train commute! I'm just so glad we are WFH.
FWIW, testing was super easy here (Chicago burbs), no symptoms needed, no insurance needed even, for certain test locations. It has got to get like this everywhere in the US. I still can't believe it's hard to test in some regions.

Thank you for sharing Eames and I hope you have a quick and easy recovery. I'm not one to jump on the antibody testing "I think I probably already had COVID" train, but sometimes anecdotes like yours make me wonder. I'm glad testing was accessible for you!

Only because daycare is all day exposure vs a short store trip
(It's just an opinion or a guess. I am not stepping on any toes.)

Thank you! So far so good, we are taking it easy around here for sure. Now is the time to use paper plates! 😆 and we've got some neighbors offering to leave groceries on our porch. The more I think about it, the exposure is most likely the daycare. My twins are only 18 months, so they don't mask. Everyone there is testing today and it's closed for now.

Well the 2nd wave seems upon us as in Texas. Shit is so stupid down here they no longer share numbers like before of new infections and new deaths. We did have more deaths in the county left of me so that's all I can use as a gauge.
For us in my house, we are doing ok. MH is out of work. Kids are doing virtual school and it's going way better than expected. I can work from home with no return to the office date in the works yet.
Like I have said in other threads, I don't discuss CV in real life. So many have moved on with their lives like it is over. That being said I have an acquaintance who lost her husband on Tues. He was 40 with no health conditions they know of. Mutual friends of ours have been to weddings as recent as last weekend with full on wedding parties. Birthday parties for children with no mention of any precautions and not a mask in sight. Again I don't say anything but I wonder how she would feel if she was on social media (which I doubt she was) and sees those pictures now having to face burying her husband.
Anyway, these are just private thoughts I don't say out loud but I am putting them here in the CV thread.

I live in an area where testing was (and still is) widely available. At the time I had allergy symptoms that I've had all my adult life. Maybe I was a little achier than normal? But I attributed that to starting an at-home work out regimen. Thank goodness the kids and dh tested negative. So I do echo your plea...if it is possible in your area, please do get tested if you have covid-related symptoms.

I've spent the last two days trying to get an infant pcr test here in Texas. My youngest (3 months) has had a fever since Wednesday. He's the only one in the house who goes anywhere (daycare). The rest of us are working at home and doing virtual school.
I really hope it's negative. I also learned that the rest of us would likely not be able to get tested unless we have symptoms, which is the dumbest thing to me. This is all so stressful because people can't act like it's a pandemic.

And I can't even talk to my parents about the test because I'm sure I'll be told I'm overreacting.

One of my very close friends’ husband tested positive this week. He’s an essential worker and knows how and when he was exposed. Luckily he /they could lockdown immediately and he’s isolated away from her and their kids.

Youngest son's roomate at univ tested negative and I believe so did his girlfriend.
And gasp, don't say this too loud, but the univ numbers went down this week. it was 34, 96, 273, then this week from recovered it's down to 226 on and off campus. it looks like whatever they are doing seems to be maybe working I hope. (very definitive statement there) and not because people died that I can tell from the numbers. only 1 in the county confirmed death, 5 suspected pending test results.
They are reporting more at the univ than the county health dept is reporting to the campus, because univ is counting on and off campus students, county is only counting on campus. so it SEEMS like they are trying to be transparent in their reporting.

And my mom is FURIOUS with her doctor's office. Like fuming jumping 80 year old saying fuck kind of mad.
They would not call in an rx for her heart med until they saw her. ok fine, they'd extended it as long as they felt comfortable. made an appt for 1st thing in the am. She put on her kn95 mask that I gave her, took gloves and hand sanitizer with her.
She walks in and there are no masks, no gloves, no social distancing, no hand sanitizer. She should have walked out, but was afraid of not having her heart med. waiting room full. so she signs in and waits in the corner standing behind a potted plant (no waiting in your car) She said it smelled dank and musty and not like it had been cleaned for first thing in the morning.
Finally her doctor's nurse calls her name. Her dr's nurse has mask, and face shield and uses hand sanitizer before opening the door for mom and mom's doc has his masks and gloves and face shield etc. He is the son of the practice owner who used to be mom's doctor since like for 40 years. mom is fuming, he explained that he and his dad are fighting over how to deal with covid (obviously)
she was down to her last pill she took that morning, so doc called her pharmacist and asked her meds to be refilled stat while she was in the room. She ran out of there so fast hand sanitizing and very upset.
before getting home, the pharmacy called her and her meds were filled, this was walmart (no drive thru) She drove over there and there were like 5 cars in the parking lot so she went in.
She said it smelled clean, there were no people, everyone in masks and the pharmacy people in masks and shields and she felt safer than at the dr office, so she picked up a few groceries. and then she went to the bank and it was also empty and clean.
She figured she might as well do all this stuff since she was already at the worst place, dr office, and she had not left her house except driving herself around the block to make sure her car battery would still work since MARCH.

peppapig, how are you feeling now? Glad the rest of your house was neg. So I tested positive in mid July...and I have no clue where I could have picked it up. No outings, no July 4th celebrations, etc. I remained asymptomatic during isolation...and bc our exercise bike happens to be in our bedroom, I lost 5 pounds, lol. Dh, on the other hand, aged about 10 years. I hope your family recovers quickly and that you guys have an uneventful isolation period. My dr did say that if you continue to have mild symptoms on day 3ish, it would probably stay that way.
