Good morning! Somehow my husband, who is normally very skilled in the kitchen, just fucked up pancakes. So he's on his way to get breakfast sandwiches now.
We have to hit the grocery store today but that's about it. It's hot and rainy

I woke up with a pounding headache & long to-do list for today. I'm chugging coffee & hoping ibuprofen helps the head.

I got a great night sleep and H got McDonalds breakfast. The kids are still sleeping and we are starting Minecraft Dungeons on the Switch. I'm living my best life over here.

We are packing up to go back home today after 4.5 months here. We picked a ton of blueberries yesterday, swam in a lake and watched the sunset and otters playing on the rock. I’m really going to miss it here.

It’s raining again, but we leave for a cabin tomorrow so I’m packing. I’m taking the dog to my moms later and I’m dropping off flowers from the garden and a zucchini bread for her.
I’m going to do a porch drop off for my grandma on my way with the same flowers and zucchini bread.

H is running to Whole Foods to grab some stuff for breakfast, mango salsa for fish tacos tonight and hopefully enough other things so that we can kick the can down the road on our actual grocery shopping trip to later this week.
Meanwhile, I’m laying in bed and online shopping for door handles, a bike do my son, but my indecisiveness is preventing me from making much progress on either.

DD1 has been begging for Minecraft so I downloaded it on the iPad for her. I hope it keeps her interest but we shall see.
DD2 helped me bake off some canned cinnamon rolls and is living her best, covered in icing life as she eats them.

Hello. The boy slept from 8:30-6:15 last night. Of course I (and my boobs) was up at like 4:30am waiting for him to wake up/ unable to sleep lol. So I lost a bit of that chunk myself but it was still nice!

DH “couldn’t sleep” last night so he’s still in bed. DD is coloring and DS is being a grump ass. I need to work on laundry and finish organizing our dining room and school supplies. I just want to hang out on the couch with Netflix.

Yesterday we had a small family party for my kids birthdays. Today is my mom’s birthday and she is visiting at a state park for a couple weeks. I made her vegan cookies and we are going up there for the day later.

It’s pouring rain today and I’m ok with it - I love rainy days but WHF on rainy days means no breaks from the distracting kids. It’s nice to have one on a weekend day with no need to do anything but relax.
For those worried about my husband, we had my dad and sister take the kids to the park yesterday while we reorganized our storage locker, so his “do something” cup has been filled. Sort of. He’s opening and closing a lot of doors right now for no discernible reason but I’m mostly ignoring it. Why doesn’t he ever sit and fold a pile of laundry when he’s wondering what to do with himself?
I am going to keep doing laundry, make some broth, and bake. D1 wants to try minecraft - she’s 6, is that old enough?

We arrived at our hotel a little while ago. Still staying pretty local to us but at least a change of scenery. And the beach here is nice and quiet. Looking forward to a few days to recharge.

DD2 helped me bake off some canned cinnamon rolls and is living her best, covered in icing life as she eats them. Well, DD1 is in tears because she keeps falling in holes. So, now the iPad is in a timeout and DD1 is crying while taking a shower. Fun times.

Tlex, 6 is perfect. Be sure to put her in creative mode so she can’t die and she’ll have a blast. The nice thing about Minecraft is that it meets the child where they are at and then grows with them. Quiet day here-H is replacing our garage light which may lead to cleaning it out, I need to bake DS9’s birthday cupcakes for tomorrow, and some clothes need mending. Meal planning for the week. Depending on how bad my storm anxiety gets I may send H out to swap an propane tank so we are set for the generator if we do lose power or to just be ready for the next one. . Pool when chores are done.

Thanks hawkward and sweptaway! Another question - do I need to put on any settings to make sure she can’t talk to strangers etc? donnamoss you’re killing me 😂 I bet that shower cry will be in D1’s future soon. We talk a lot about how “real coders” (her dream job) fail over and over and over again and they think of it as part of learning. I am hoping this coding interest of hers helps her develop resiliency in that area because she’s been an intense perfectionist since she could first roll over.

Dh and I had one bottle of wine too many last night and I’m laying here with a headache. We were supposed to go to the lake today but neither of us are feeling motivated. He’s oot the next two weekends so I know we’re going to regret not going today but... anyone want to kick me in the rear and tell me I’ll feel better on the water?

It’s storming here and I love it. I’m lying in bed and listening to it all.
Ps - I made fantastic eggs yesterday. I like making baked egg casseroles and I recently read somewhere that instead of adding cream or milk, one should blend the eggs in a blender with cottage cheese. I tried it and it makes the fucking fluffiest eggs! How have I never heard of this trick before???

Tlex I’m not totally sure since H was the one who set it up, but I think as long as they’re creating a standalone world not in a realm, it’s safe. My older sister is a coder and her 6 yo is into it too. I think they do some of Karlie Kloss’ coding stuff.

We did this and then poured the mix into silicone muffin cups and cooked them in a water bath on the stove top. They were like Starbucks’ egg bites. So good.
