I’m on the cape now (MA resident but come here very summer). I think in MA playgrounds are town by town. We went to one at a school on Sunday and there were use at your own risk signs but that’s it. It gets used for camp during the week so we haven’t been back. I made the mistake of being lazy and going for a bike ride at 10 am the other day and the path was crowded enough that I masked the whole time, rather than just having it on me and generally being able to avoid people. So that’s hit or miss. The big ocean beaches have been fine cuz there’s space. We went to a bay beach at high tide the other day and it was hard to find a space that felt more than 6 feet from another group. And of course kids don’t sit still. So we won’t be doing that again. One way paths on and off most beaches, maybe half the ppl masked walking in and out. Almost none on the beach. But other than that one experience the beaches have felt perfectly safe. We haven’t done restaurants other than ice cream. But it is more crowded than I anticipated down here. Most restaurants have made outdoor seating areas. Honestly I won’t be surprised if we surge though cuz last weekend there were plenty of parties for the 4th that we witnessed. We're going to a beach house with access to a private bay beach. Our plan is to not go anywhere other than the house, the beach, and maybe a playground or two. Maybe one night MH and I will get fish fry takeout and go park somewhere and eat it in the car. We're pretty much isolating with a different backdrop for this vacation. My biggest concern is going to be trying to keep DD away from other kids on the beach. Personally I don't mind if she plays with other kids outside, but I don't know how breezy other parents are. This is the only time I really wish we had DS two years ago so she'd have someone to play with through this. Girl, don’t worry about that. My kids have each other and they’re still distracted by every other kid with a boogie board.

Hello from WNY! We're just sitting up here waiting to hear about school and hoping numbers stay down. I live in a small college town and people here are generally good about following guidelines and being respectful of each other. I'm nervous for what things will look like when/if students come back in August. I also work for a University and get regular updates on their back to school planning and they sound like a clusterfuck of testing, hoping students will follow social distancing protocols and praying. We also had the fun game this week of Covid vs Cold with my DS and luckily it was just a cold that he gave to everyone in my house. It was a sneak peek at what going back to school might look like as he's had to be out of daycare for 72 hours post fever. I think you are where I am. I think the most scandalous thing I've seen is that Wegman's isn't enforcing masks. There are grocery store chains facing many lawsuits over mask requirements so I imagine a lot of businesses are nervous.

I’m in RI and we are doing well. I worry a bit about summer tourism and some crowding at beaches. I am hopeful we will not slide back so much that we can’t start up school August 31st as planned.

My younger one loves to make friends on the beach, she found 2 diff girls today and both families were cool with it. With one I kept reminding her to spread out a bit but it was so good for her.

I’m in MA. In an extremely tourist/seasonal area. Things were going well, people masked, keeping distanced but lately I see too many people without masks and things getting crowded. I am certain we will have a surge soon here 😫 My family is headed your way next week from another part of MA. We also rented a house for just the three of us. Normally we go to NH in the summer but this year, we decided to just stay in state. We all wear our masks when we're out in stores . Really hoping we don't end up surging and people keep up the good work we've been doing so far.

Hi from the DMV (technically Maryland but just a mile outside DC). My county is taking it slower than the rest of the state which I'm glad about, but I feel like everyone I know has been to a beach or is at a beach, so it's just going to come back soon. We only walk around our neighborhood without sidewalks, so most people aren't wearing masks since it's easy to distance. Mh is quite risk averse so we haven't been in any stores in months. gallagher sorry to hear it's bad there, I saw some news about some outbreaks😔 we have a reservation for a condo in Sea Colony at the end of next month, hoping we can go and just eat at home and go to the beach early/late.

Also popping in from MA, central part of the state. Its at least a little reassuring to not feel doom and gloom everyday like I did for months. It feels inevitable for a fall surge but I hope we can continue on a positive trend. It felt hopeless for awhile. We also have a family summer home in RI and have been down there a couple times and it feels like people are being smart there and taking precautions. I just cannot wrap my head around these other states and not mandating masks. GTFO with that.

I haven’t been in a grocery store, even my beloved Wegmans, since March either. Thank goodness for Instacart.

I consider myself solidly WNY/FLX. In my mind, anything west of Seneca Lake is WNY. I lived right on Seneca lake for five years. Those FLX folks think they're WNY even though they get Syracuse local channels. You all are basically midwesterners according to people in the capital region. 😜

Not sure if coastal DE belongs here but we are a hop skip and jump from Jersey shore via ferry, philly, DC, etc. PDQ We are infected here in our little beach town. Big percentage of restaurant staff, lifeguards, teens, and young adults. I know many people who are currently exposed, positive, or awaiting results. Northern DE here. Really want to visit my aunt for a few days in in Bethany, but haven't made definite plans yet

tallb,I think you should be fine at sea colony. dewey and rehoboth are where the cases are, not bethany. even though bethany is a short distance, it's a different vibe there. We have a lot more party spots and a buttload of local teens who seem to live on the streets of dewey. Bethany isnt so much of a party spot. klw too

We’re vacationing with my parents for a few weeks this summer in upstate NY. They live near a state park with a swimming lake that is restricted only to people camping there due to COVID. The campsite is only booking 30% of their sites to avoid crowding. We booked a site for two weeks and have been spending our days swimming, canoeing, hiking, and cooking over campfires, then heading home to sleep in comfy beds and use private bathrooms. It has been a perfect COVID vacation - easy to maintain tons of physical distance while having a lot of fun.

We’re going to be on the cape next week (we are in MA) and our plan is not to leave the property! We’ve rented a house on a lake and kayaks so we can fish, kayak and whatever right there. I’m saving the ocean for next summer. . DNW to be around a bunch of tourists this summer. We might bike in one of the trails if it’s not too crowded. Don’t forget about the giant killer jellyfish in the ocean this year 😱 But that sounds great. Some areas are doing better than others as far as requiring masks - we checked out P-town and Chatham weekend and both require masks to be downtown so that was reassuring. Hyannis not so much. I’ve been to the he beach a few times and we’ve had to leave rather quickly because it fills up and people do not keep their distance. Like wtf, can’t everyone just follow the rules, don’t you remember April?!?

Are playgrounds open there? I've read inconsistent things. Obviously I assume restrictions and we'd be masked no matter where we go. We are going to our yearly beach house next week and it just so happens that good friends, also from CT, are going as well but about an hour inland. I was hoping to find a playground or park halfway to meet up, but it's hard to tell what is and isn't open. I am not sure, to be honest. I think so and I’ve seen some people using them but haven’t yet attempted the playground.

NH! We have a trump rally coming our way Saturday. So...let’s hope no one shows up to that for multiple reasons. The one in Tulsa ended up spreading to a large group of people I think. Not to be pessimistic *** but just that is what I read happened. I thought of NH and was like oh no please don’t because that will trickle down here. Fingers crossed. That no one shows up, like you said. For multi reasons!

I am certain we will have a surge soon here 😫 Really? Ugh what part of MA if you don’t mind me asking? I’m like a handful of miles north of Boston and it’s very rare to see some one without a mask. Outdoors on walks i sometimes see people without, depending on how quiet and residential, but anywhere near the center or in stores etc 100% masks I’ve seen. I was concerned about surges but Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, the protests, were all said to “going to cause spikes” but they didn’t so I’m optimistic that that will stay cool. Like outdoor stuff is very safe so I’m clinging to that. Obviously I can only speak to my area. I did hit the beat a few weeks ago up in cape Ann and it was bonkers packed like I’ve never seen it my whole life, (go there all the time), as distanced as possible, and it was totally fine. No masks at all. We had them on the i was like Ok I guess the beach Is fine without one, but walking around town everyone had a mask.

Hi from NY. I have to take the train into the office for the first time tomorrow since March and I'm hearing so much about people getting very relaxed about wearing their masks on the train and it not being enforced as it should be.. I'm bringing extra bags (shit I have to return to work) to block the second seat in the hopes that no one will sit with me.

Also, HEY! Checking in from SE PA. Still doing fine in our county and... no one is coming here for vacation but people are going elsewhere and coming back. So we will see. Do y’all have a quarantine mandate? Asking because aforementioned aunts are heading your way tomorrow, and I have no qualms on reporting them for being out in the general public. Yes, I am that desperate Certain states are supposed to but I do not believe they’re being enforced. The City of Philadelphia is much more strict than the burbs near me, so you might have a shot, depending on where they are going

itsalrightma I just saw your area. We typically go down to Falmouth a few times in the summer (it’s our family home not a rental) but I don’t feel comfortable this year. I don’t think I want to come and stay in all day or just go to beaches I can do that here, and I am only comfortable with outdoor dining right now so it seems like a waste. Is it really full of tourists / out of towners like other years or is it less crowded?

But then I see a ton of people out and about without masks and it’s really disheartening.

I ordered the crayola ones for DD and myself. Plus Old Navy. And Disney store ones.
When I am back in the classroom I wanted some fun ones.
This past weekend I went to Trader Joe’s for the first time. I missed that store so much. My girls prefer their food over other brands. I wish they did curbside or delivery.

fancynewbeesly, TJs is one I've missed.. I'm out of so many seasonings and pantry items from there and it makes me sad. They're still too busy around here with lines almost around the building most days waiting to get in.

Greetings from Maine. Our numbers have been holding steady for the most part. But as others have said we are knee deep in tourist season. I work in a very touristy area (for a non-tourist related business). It was quieter than normal for this time of year until about last week, but now the traffic is mostly out of state plates and seems closer to a seasonal normal. Cases are still low in my county, but creeping up in the last month. And keep in mind that any person testing positive who RESIDES in another place is not counted in our totals. So we won't know there's a spike until locals are infected.
