I'm really curious about the SUNY schools now too. They were pumping j&j for the students, hoping to mass vax them all before summer break. That's a big wrench there too.

I just don’t understand the point of the pause. They aren’t going to destroy all these vaccines and start redeveloping it. What is this pause going to do other than disrupt an already imperfect process

What is this pause going to do other than disrupt an already imperfect process It’s a disaster. The rate of vax injury from J+J (so far) is lower than every other vaccine. I get why they paused it (in theory) but this could be a nightmare for the vaccination effort.

Most likely they’ll end up doing what AstraZeneca does in Europe where there are age limits or existing conditions/disclosures issued (the girls on the politics board explained better). But as someone pointed out these are standard blood clots, they are rare and can’t use heparin to correct so they can’t keep pumping out the vaccine into people until a proper treatment and diagnosis is available.

Also, CDC so quick to act now. But real quiet for the past year recommending a lockdown.
Thanks, guys.

This is what I was going to say...only you worded better Determine the extent of the issue, what factors contribute to it, and prepare/distribute guidance accordingly. Who should or shouldn’t receive this vaccine and what the plan is to handle any potential complications. I am disappointed though for the set backs this is going to cause. There are a lot of people locally who are reluctant to vaccinate and the allure of a one and done shot was a good way to encourage it. Also the ability to target harder to reach groups.

People in the vaccine angel group located in CT are freaking out because their j&j appointments are being cancelled left and right. I feel bad for those scheduled soon and now find themselves needing to search for new appointments.

UofA is getting the county’s pfizer allotment to replace them for this week- they had not scheduled a regular county pod and were focusing on schools this week. I’m not sure if other counties will follow suit.

I have a j&j shot scheduled for next week!!! MontCo people if you’re still waiting now is your time! I went through the county website and clicked right through to pick a location, date and time slot I legitimately cannot believe it welp. quoting myself to say i might have to keep waiting. idk what will become of Jansen appointments in our area. I hope they honor your appointment with another. So frustrating!

My appointment was for 5:45 and my shot was administered at 5:38.

Interesting . I mean, I get investigating it because I'm sure that would be part of a normal, not so public trial. Just sucks that people hear half of the story and react emotionally vs. factually.

But, most people saw the headline and freaked out and won’t look any further now. Like my educated, nurse sister, who is freaking out because she HAD to have J&J, and now this. Who will now probably create Facebook drama and either directly or indirectly cast doubt in the minds of people who were on the fence about being by vaccinated.

And this is clearly not my research. 🤣 I’ve been listening to people much smarter than me talk about it. I went from panic over the vax to panic to never getting out of this mess over the course of the past few hours. So I’m just passing my mental breakdown along.

It’s funny you say that bc someone who is smarter than me and is very mad right now just said to me, “most people aren’t going to read nerdy studies like I do, they’re just going to see the headline and panic.” I think that’s a very real concern.

Cher I saw someone say this morning "The same people who are shouting about covid having a 99% survival rate are now shouting about a 6 in 6 million blood clot" Make it make sense!

I’m sad about the headlines from a selfish point of view. The MRNA technology allowed me to be vaccinated, without it I was 100% excluded from being eligible. I want work like that to be brought to the limelight instead of all the negatives. My parents, brother and H were so happy I was able to get it. You could just hear it in my moms voice. My parents have been terrified for years of what could happen if I got something like Covid and my immune system freaked out (when I had the flu after DS2 was born they were checking in on me non stop and all over me about meds and the doctor). This is what I want people to stop and think about, without science and technology the steps forward wouldn’t be there.

And I’m not discounting the seriousness of the issue, I’m just sad that that’s all the headlines and people seem to focus on.

kbw Johnson and Johnson is the adenovirus one. It's the similar to the flu I think. May have made that up The pfizer and the Moderna mrna are what a lot of stuff is going to be in the future because it's so easy to make and situations like yours

I guess I was trying to say I would love to see positive news about things like the Pfizer/moderna instead of always feeling like it’s negative in the news which people run with.

I find a lot of people don’t want to talk about the good things because it doesn’t fit their narrative. 🤷🏼♀️ The mRNA technology is a huge deal and breakthrough. There are so many possibilities- a flu vaccine that is similar to the DTaP instead of yearly and a cure for things like T1D are things I have seen pointed out recently as now a possibility because of this technology
