Morning. We are at the dentist again so H can get her cavities filled, she has 2 between a set of her back teeth. S and I are hanging out alone in the waiting room. It’s actually raining and cooler today which is just fine with me. It’ll probably be a pretty low key day otherwise.

Morning. Rainy day here too which is much needed, so low key day for us.
I finished a workout program yesterday so I’m just trying to decide what to do next. I was sitting on the couch watching a workout on the peloton app to see if I liked it, and N said “mom, aren’t YOU supposed to be doing the workout?” Lol. So i suppose I better get up and get moving. I’ve been pretty lazy with stuff around the house this week, so i really should get moving today.

Morning!
Kids are at camp and I'm at my parents' house attempting to pack our junk up to move it over to the new house. I'm going to go over there after I get C at 1.
We had the loveliest 4-5 day break from the heat...temps were around 80 (or less!) every day with no humidity. It's warm and humid again today, so I guess our respite is officially over. Glad we got the bulk of the moving done yesterday.

I watched Knives Out on Prime last night. With all of the celebrities in it, I was expecting something better but I still thought it was good.

Hi all! Man, I can't seem to finish and post this week. Work is insane and just trying to keep afloat. I'm in the car waiting for my skin check at the dermatologist that I forgot I rescheduled a few months ago. They just announced that tomorrow is an official holiday for us, so that's fun except I still have some work to do.
We are struggling with what to do with daycare. K opens in 2 weeks and N's may open in September...but I'm basically working from home for the rest of the year, so doesn't make sense to commute to take the kids in, and we don't know what j will be doing with public schools. A nanny may make the most sense until there's a vaccine/treatment. Sigh.

Just realized I need to renew my license. And I have to go to the actual place this time. Ugh. Probably should look into that.

WWN13D? MIL gave me a personalized/signed copy of a book one of her college friends wrote. Not that I only read Tolstoy or anything, but it is definitely not my speed. At all.
I’d donate it, except A) my name is in it and B) MIL commented that she wants to know my thoughts.
Does this mean I have to read it, or can I ignore?

She'd probably just send you another copy though. Do you think she wants to know your actual thoughts or can this just be a "it was a good read and really kept my attention" type thing.

flamingo probably a good idea to read it, if she is bringing it up already she obviously wants to discuss and wont let it go until then. Read it like we read to the toddlers on a tired night, skip some pages but you get the idea of the story..HA!

Also hi! Dd was up most of the night (bad dream who knows...). So I woke up exhausted. I had to test a student this morning, he walked in late & with a cold (sneezing coughing). Sorry, but no, no way I’m going to sit across from you for 3-4 hours like that, so after checking with my boss I send him back home.
Productive meeting this afternoon, two more days/weeks at school 🥳.

Morning all.
It's been an emotional morning over here for some reason. I haven't mentioned it here yet but on May 7th, a couple days before my birthday, we said goodbye to Pete. He was declining and after some intense snuggles and heavy sighs from him I knew it was time. He was 18 yo and I had the privilege of being his companion for a glorious 16 years.
We are all getting used to him not being around still and every once in a while, which seems to be today, Julia asks to 'go get him back from the vet', Zoe looks super confused at the one cat bowl on the floor, B looks for a buddy while doing school and I miss him intensely at every turn since he was the original side kick.

Act like an irresponsible high school student and find a summary online. Enough to fake your way through a conversation?

We have someone coming over today to give us an estimate for a bunch of little house projects, but it prompted me to walk through our house last night like we had trillions in the bank and make a list of all the things I’d like done. Including wrapping the deck around the house, cutting walls in the dining room, and cutting a window in the living room. Instead (and in reality) we will be fixing the fence, changing out lighting fixtures, and getting a quote to paint our kitchen cabinets.

vino, I'm so sorry about Pete. flamingo I would probably do what others have said. Skim through it enough to speak intelligently about it.

Today was the last day of school celebration and it was rather emotional. They did a bunch of songs together over google class and then she made a video from pictures we sent her of the kids. The class moms had us video our kids answering a handful of questions and they put together a video for the teachers. When they cut back to the classroom the teachers aid was crying which made me cry. Such a weird K experience.
When it was over, S turned to me and said "I'm both happy and sad about the last day of school." Me too, kid. Me too.

jewels Congrats on him being done school! All of that is adorable and I am so happy that he has a memory of finishing kinder, it is emotional for sure. When I picked up B on his last day last year I just started tearing up as soon as I saw the teacher, such a combination of such happy memories, to leaving the teacher to seeing how big they get. Ugh, it's a lot and I'm usually not one generally affected by milestones.

flamingo I’d say I’ll read it when we are done moving and then make sure you mention how many boxes you still have left to unpack.... Maybe if you delay long enough, she’ll forget about it?

flamingo I wouldn’t make it a priority but I’d read it eventually. Just mention how busy you are anytime she asks about it. What is this book about? vino sorry about Pete.

I totally forgot that mil asked for the kids to come over after lunch, so I guess I get some solo time today. I think I might run to the mall to return some shorts to old navy and look around. I don’t have any intention of going anywhere else though.

vino I’m so sorry about Pete. I hate that you and the kids had to say goodbye to him. Sending hugs today. flamingo I agree with others. Skim it to know enough to have a very brief conversation about it. Since it’s her friend, she may not forget about it. Also, it could have got misplaced in the move. 🤷🏽♀️
