Hi.
I’m struggling today in the way that my mind is not as sharp as it should be. One more day until the weekend.
On the flip side, the radio station we have on today keeps playing Prince and Backstreet Boys, so it’s keeping me in a good mood.
I think I’m going to buy some furniture tonight. I was hoping the sale would be Fourth of July, but they are doing their best special tonight from 6-9pm. I’m mainly going for a sectional, but I may look into a king for the master, too. Go big or go home, right?

We have someone coming over today to give us an estimate for a bunch of little house projects, but it prompted me to walk through our house last night like we had trillions in the bank and make a list of all the things I’d like done. Including wrapping the deck around the house, cutting walls in the dining room, and cutting a window in the living room. Instead (and in reality) we will be fixing the fence, changing out lighting fixtures, and getting a quote to paint our kitchen cabinets. I feel you girlfriend. +1 Sometimes I think my list is too long that I should just demo this one and start from scratch! HA!

Morning all. It's been an emotional morning over here for some reason. I haven't mentioned it here yet but on May 7th, a couple days before my birthday, we said goodbye to Pete. He was declining and after some intense snuggles and heavy sighs from him I knew it was time. He was 18 yo and I had the privilege of being his companion for a glorious 16 years. We are all getting used to him not being around still and every once in a while, which seems to be today, Julia asks to 'go get him back from the vet', Zoe looks super confused at the one cat bowl on the floor, B looks for a buddy while doing school and I miss him intensely at every turn since he was the original side kick. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful cat and a huge part of your family. It's so hard when someone who is always right there, is now gone. H

I invited DD’s friend from down the block over yesterday. They played from 1-10pm. DD was singing in the shower. I realized she used to always sing in the shower and she hasn’t for a long time. Time with a friend was obviously much needed.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!! I haven't been this excited for a last day of school since I was a kid! I took tomorrow off with C for a last C & me day before he starts camp full time on Monday. It's ridiculously humid today so we may end up at the beach tomorrow if it continues.

I took zorro to the groomer this morning. We ran to target, ate lunch with mom, dropped off some baby items to a friend and then picked up zorro. Its only 2:30 and I feel like its 5. I need to weed eat during Mallory's nap and then I'll mow once my mom can keep an eye on the kids.

There is a little bit of fun in this. Taking something that isn’t quite right and making it exactly how I want it. I just wish we could do it all once instead of waiting to budget for each reno year-by-year.

I constantly remind myself that this isn’t my forever home, so chill with the “Reno” list. I need to change only what is necessary to be content for 3-5 years for now.

We had someone out to fix the fence repairs that were sloppily done in November that I hadn't inspected very closely.. I want to hire someone to hang heavy things on the wall, I don't trust myself (or mh)

Y’all are better people than me, I was hoping the consensus would be to lose the book, lol. I’m going to procrastinate as long as I can, tho! They’re coming next month...maybe if she doesn’t ask me then I’m off the hook. trtlcrzy I have read the inside flap probably a half dozen times and still can’t tell you what it’s about. There is a guy and girl involved and It just sounds like uber emotionally charged drivel. Like I would never in a million years buy/borrow/choose to read it.

Congrats wedding, you made it! kim22 that is a very touching observation about your daughter, I’m glad she had a good day and seems to have perked up. I have definitely seen a (positive) change in B since being back here and interacting with other kids again. vino very sorry for your loss, he had a very good life with you guys. I tear up even thinking about losing our lab someday (even though she drives me insane some days). Pets really do become part of the family. Team I Want To Do All the Reno’s/updates Now 😬

Dh’s cousin is getting married in September at a resort up north. Normally I’m not too excited about weddings on his side but I thought it would be a fun weekend getaway with the family.
I just looked up their wedding website and children are not invited to the ceremony or dinner but they’d “love to have them at the dance!” What the heck? So you expect everyone to travel 3-5 hours for this wedding but kids can only come to the dance? What are they supposed to do before that? Maybe a UO, but I don’t like it.
For our wedding, most of my family had to drive 4 hours, so my cousins kids were all invited. In-town friends’ kids did not get an invite because they could easily get a sitter for a few hours.
So... guess we’re not going to the wedding!

I just fought with the ice maker and WON! I left an otter pop in the ice section and it wrapped around the coil, and I got it out in almost one piece!

My pockets are burning. Just bought a sectional, king bed and mattress. I keep telling myself I’ve earned it with how much I have worked this past month.

I got my yard weed eated and mowed. It was so tall it looks like shit. But its done. I'll mow again early next week to make it look good. But I borrowed my brothers mower because my moms is in the shop and A won't make a damn decision on which one we're buying. But anyway, I broke my brothers mower. I put gas in it before returning it and it takes diesel......

I never realized how not fun weddings are when you bring kids, until I didn’t bring mine to one. Or, if you really wanted to go maybe your mom could go with and hang out at the hotel with the kids until the reception.

Sorry to inform you all but building a house yourself does not fix all the problems. There are things I wish we would have done differently when building our house and I want to change them. But it’s livable and I’m not going to sink money into that kind of stuff right now.

Would not want to have to watch actual kids. We had no kids at our wedding but also didn't have nieces or nephews at the time. It does make the distant wedding hard though. Maybe one person can hang back and bring them to the reception?

I’m all for leaving the kids behind for friends weddings. But it seems weird for family, and I’m sure Dh’s parents would be offended if we left the kids with my parents. And this side of the family is very casual.. so it’s not going to be a formal wedding at all, so I was surprised to see no kids.

DH has been fighting it for a week. I had to drink a margarita without ice the other day. Right now it’s full of ice we bought at the store.
